1 Then answered Bildad the Shuchite, and said,
1 Então Bildade, da região de Sua, em resposta disse:
2 How long wilt thou speak these things? and let like a mighty wind be the words of thy mouth?
2 “Até quando você, Jó, vai falar assim? Até quando as suas palavras serão como um vento forte?
3 Should God pervert justice? or should the Almighty pervert righteousness?
3 Será que Deus torceria a justiça? Será que o Todo-Poderoso faria o que não é direito?
4 If thy children have sinned against him, then did he send them off through the means of their transgression.
4 Decerto os seus filhos pecaram contra Deus, e ele os castigou como mereciam.
5 If thou wilt earnestly seek for God, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;
5 Agora volte para Deus e ore ao Todo-Poderoso.
6 If thou become pure and upright: surely then will he watch over thee, and restore thy righteous habitation.
6 Se você é mesmo puro e honesto, Deus virá logo ajudá-lo e lhe dará de novo o lar que você merece.
7 And thy beginning will have been small; because thy latter end will grow up greatly.
7 A riqueza que você perdeu não será nada comparada com o que Deus lhe dará depois.
8 For ask, I pray thee, of an earlier generation, and prepare thyself to stand by the research of their fathers;
8 “Faça perguntas aos nossos antepassados; aprenda com a experiência deles.
9 For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because a mere shadow are our days upon earth;
9 Pois nós nascemos ontem e não sabemos nada; os nossos dias na terra passam como a sombra.
10 Behold, these will truly teach thee, they will speak unto thee, and out of their very heart will they bring forth words:
10 Deixe que os nossos antepassados falem a você e o ensinem. Da sua experiência eles dirão isto:
11 Can the bulrush shoot upward without mire? can the meadowgrass grow up without water?
11 ‘Será que a taboa pode crescer fora do brejo ou o
12 It is yet in its greenness, not yet cut down, when it withereth before any other grass.
12 Verdes ainda e mesmo sem serem cortados, eles secam antes das outras ervas.
13 So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hope of the hypocrite will perish:
13 Assim acontece com os que esquecem de Deus; assim dá em nada a esperança dos maus.
14 It is he whose trust will be cut off, and but a spiders web is that in which he confideth.
14 A segurança deles é um fio de linha; a sua confiança é como uma teia de aranha.
15 He leaneth against his house, but it shall not stand: he layeth fast hold on it, but it shall not remain erect.
15 Eles se apoiam na teia, mas ela não aguenta; agarram o fio, mas não conseguem ficar de pé.’
16 He is in full vigor before the sun, and over his garden his shoots go forth.
16 “Os maus crescem como ervas ao sol que se espalham pelo jardim.
17 His roots are twisted about a stoneheap, he selecteth for himself a place of stones.
17 As suas raízes se enroscam nas pedras, se agarram nas rochas,
18 But when men destroy him from his place, then will it deny him, saying, I have never seen thee.
18 mas, se alguém as arranca, ninguém vai nem saber que estiveram naquele lugar.
19 Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the same dust others will grow up.
19 É nisso que dá a vida alegre dos maus; chegam outras pessoas e tomam o lugar deles.
20 Behold, God will not reject a perfect man, and will not hold fast by their hand the evildoers:
20 “Esteja certo de que Deus não abandona as pessoas honestas, nem dá a mão para ajudar os maus.
21 Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with joyful shouting.
21 Ele fará você rir de novo e dar gritos de alegria;
22 They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the tent of the wicked shall be no more.
22 mas os seus inimigos vão viver na confusão, e as casas dos maus serão destruídas.”
