1 Knowest thou the time when the chamois of the rock bring forth? or markest thou when the hinds do calve?
1 "Você sabe quando as cabras monteses dão à luz? Você está atento quando a corça tem o seu filhote?
2 Numberest thou the months of gestation which they complete and knowest thou the time when they bring forth?
2 Acaso você conta os meses até elas darem à luz? Sabe em que época elas têm as suas crias?
3 They bend themselves: they drop their young ones; throw off their pains.
3 Elas se agacham, dão à luz os seus filhotes, e suas dores se vão.
4 Their little ones become strong; they grow up in the open field; they go forth, and return not unto them.
4 Seus filhotes crescem nos campos e ficam fortes; partem, e não voltam mais.
5 Who sent out the wild ass free? or who loosened the bonds of the forestass?
5 "Quem pôs em liberdade o jumento selvagem? Quem soltou suas cordas?
6 To whom I assigned the wilderness as his house, and the salty land as his dwellings.
6 Eu lhe dei o deserto como lar, os leito seco de lagos salgados como sua morada.
7 He laugheth at the noise of a town, and the shoutings of the driver he heareth not.
7 Ele se ri da agitação da cidade; não ouve os gritos do tropeiro.
8 What he espieth on the mountains is his pasture, and after every green thing doth he search.
8 Vagueia pelas colinas em busca de pasto e vai em busca daquilo que é verde.
9 Will the forestox be willing to serve thee, or will he stay over night at thy crib?
9 "Será que o boi selvagem consentirá em servir você? e em passar a noite ao lado dos cochos do seu curral?
10 Canst thou bind the forestox with a rope to labor in the furrow? or will he harrow valleys, following after thee?
10 Poderá você prendê-lo com arreio na vala? Irá atrás de você arando os vales?
11 Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? and wilt thou leave to him thy labor?
11 Você vai confiar nele, por causa da sua grande força? Vai deixar a cargo dele o trabalho pesado que você tem que fazer?
12 Wilt thou confide in him, that he should bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy threshingfloor?
12 Poderá você estar certo de que ele recolherá o seu trigo e o ajuntará na sua eira?
13 The wing of the ostrich moveth joyfully: hath she the pinions and plumage of the careful stork?
13 "A avestruz bate as asas alegremente. Que se dirá então das asas e da plumagem da cegonha?
14 No, for she intrusteth her eggs to the earth, and letteth them be hatched out on the dust:
14 Ela abandona os ovos no chão e deixa que a areia os aqueça,
15 And she forgetteth that a foot may crush them, or that the beast of the field may stamp them down.
15 esquecida de que um pé poderá esmagá-los, que algum animal selvagem poderá pisoteá-los.
16 He hath made her callous against her young, as though they were not hers: her labor is in vain, but she feeleth no dread;
16 Ela trata mal os seus filhotes, como se não fossem dela, e não se importa se o seu trabalho é inútil.
17 Because God hath denied her wisdom, and he hath not imparted to her understanding.
17 Isso porque Deus não lhe deu sabedoria nem parcela alguma de bom senso.
18 At the time she raiseth herself up on high, she laugheth at the horse and his rider.
18 Contudo, quando estende as penas para correr, ela ri do cavalo e daquele que o cavalga.
19 Dost thou give the horse strength? dost thou clothe his neck with the rolling mane?
19 "É você que dá força ao cavalo ou veste o seu pescoço com sua crina tremulante?
20 Canst thou make him jump like a locust? his majestic snort is terrible.
20 Você o faz saltar como gafanhoto, espalhando terror com o seu orgulhoso resfolegar?
21 Men spy about in the valley, and he rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth forth to meet the armed array.
21 Ele escarva com fúria, mostra com prazer a sua força, e sai para enfrentar as armas.
22 He laugheth at fear, and is not dismayed; and turneth not back from before the sword.
22 Ele ri do medo, e nada teme; não recua diante da espada.
23 Over him rattle the quiver, the glittering spear and the lance.
23 A aljava balança ao seu lado, com a lança e o dardo flamejantes.
24 With impatient noise and rage he holloweth with his hoof the ground, and keepeth not quiet when the cornets voice is heard.
24 Num furor frenético ele devora o chão; não consegue esperar pelo toque da trombeta.
25 Midst the sound of the cornet he uttereth his joyful neigh; and from afar he perceiveth the battle, the loud call of the captains, and the battlecry.
25 Ao toque da trombeta, ele relincha: ‘Eia! ’ De longe sente cheiro de combate, o brado de comando e o grito de guerra.
26 Is it through thy understanding that the hawk flieth along, and spreadeth out his wings toward the south?
26 "É graças a inteligência que você tem que o falcão alça vôo e estende as asas rumo sul?
27 Or is it by your order that the eagle doth mount upward, and buildeth high up his nest?
27 É porque você manda, que a águia se eleva, e no alto constrói o seu ninho?
28 On a rock he dwelleth, and spendeth his nights, on a rocky crag and mountain fastness.
28 Um penhasco é sua morada, e ali passa a noite; uma escarpa rochosa é a sua fortaleza.
29 From there he espieth his food, from afar can his eyes behold.
29 De lá sai ela em busca de alimento; de longe os seus olhos o vêem.
30 His young ones, also, sip up blood: and where the slain be, there is he.
30 Seus filhotes bebem sangue, e, onde há mortos, ali ela está".
