1 For there is a mine for silver, and a place for gold which they refine.
1 Certamente há um veio para a prata e um lugar para o ouro, onde o refinam.
2 Iron is taken out of the dust, and brass is molten out of the stone.
2 O ferro é tirado da terra e o bronze é fundido da pedra.
3 Man setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out to the furthest bound the stones of thick darkness and of the shadow of death.
3 Ele põe fim às trevas, e vasculha toda perfeição; as pedras da escuridão e a sombra da morte.
4 He breaketh open a shaft away from where men sojourn; they are forgotten of the foot that passeth by; they hang afar from men, they swing to and fro.
4 A inundação brota do habitante; até as águas esquecidas pelo pé estão secas, elas estão longe dos homens.
5 As for the earth, out of it cometh bread, and underneath it is turned up as it were by fire.
5 Quanto à terra, dela vem o pão, e por baixo ela está revolvida como se fosse fogo.
6 The stones thereof are the place of sapphires, and it hath dust of gold.
6 As suas pedras são o lugar das safiras, e ela tem pó de ouro.
7 That path no bird of prey knoweth, neither hath the falcon's eye seen it;
7 Há um caminho que nenhuma ave conhece, e que o olho do abutre não viu.
8 The proud beasts have not trodden it, nor hath the lion passed thereby.
8 Os filhotes de leão não o pisaram, nem o feroz leão passou por ele.
9 He putteth forth his hand upon the flinty rock; He overturneth the mountains by the roots.
9 Ele estende a sua mão sobre a rocha, e revira os montes pelas raízes.
10 He cutteth out channels among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing.
10 Ele corta os rios entre as rochas, e seu olho vê cada coisa preciosa.
11 He bindeth the streams that they trickle not; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.
11 Ele detém as enchentes para que não transbordem, e aquilo que está escondido ele traz à luz.
12 But wisdom, where shall it be found? And where is the place of understanding?
12 Mas onde se encontrará a sabedoria, e onde está o lugar do entendimento?
13 Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.
13 O homem não conhece o seu preço, nem se acha na terra dos viventes.
14 The deep saith: 'It is not in me'; and the sea saith: 'It is not with me.'
14 A profundidade diz: Não está em mim; e o mar diz: Não está comigo.
15 It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.
15 Ela não pode ser conseguida através do ouro, nem a prata será pesada pelo seu preço.
16 It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.
16 Não pode ser avaliada com ouro de Ofir, nem com o precioso ônix, nem pela safira.
17 Gold and glass cannot equal it; neither shall the exchange thereof be vessels of fine gold.
17 O ouro e o cristal não se igualam a ela, e sua troca não será por joias de fino ouro.
18 No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal; yea, the price of wisdom is above rubies.
18 Nenhuma menção será feita de coral ou de pérolas, porque o preço da sabedoria está acima dos rubis.
19 The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.
19 O topázio da Etiópia não se igualará a ela, nem será avaliada com puro ouro.
20 Whence then cometh wisdom? And where is the place of understanding?
20 De onde então vem a sabedoria, e onde está o lugar do entendimento?
21 Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.
21 Tem sido encoberta aos olhos de todos os viventes, e ela é mantida oculta das aves do céu.
22 Destruction and Death say: 'We have heard a rumor thereof with our ears.'
22 A destruição e a morte dizem: Ouvimos com os nossos ouvidos a sua fama.
23 God understandeth the way thereof, and He knoweth the place thereof.
23 Deus entende o seu caminho, e ele conhece o seu lugar.
24 For He looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;
24 Porque ele olha para os fins da terra; e vê debaixo de todo o céu;
25 When He maketh a weight for the wind, and meteth out the waters by measure.
25 para fazer o peso dos ventos, e ele pesa as águas por medida.
26 When He made a decree for the rain, and a way for the storm of thunders;
26 Quando ele fez um decreto para a chuva, e um caminho para o relâmpago do trovão,
27 Then did He see it, and declare it; He established it, yea, and searched it out.
27 então a viu e a declarou; ele a preparou, sim, e a vasculhou.
28 And unto man He said: 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.'
28 E disse ao homem: Eis o temor do Senhor, que é sabedoria, e o apartar-se do mal é entendimento.
