1 Call nowe, if any will answere thee, and to which of the Saintes wilt thou turne?
1 Chama agora! Haverá alguém que te atenda? E para qual dos santos anjos te virarás?
2 Doubtlesse anger killeth the foolish, and enuie slayeth the idiote.
2 Porque a ira do louco o destrói, e o zelo do tolo o mata.
3 I haue seene the foolish well rooted, and suddenly I cursed his habitation, saying,
3 Bem vi eu o louco lançar raízes; mas logo declarei maldita a sua habitação.
4 His children shalbe farre from saluation, and they shall be destroyed in the gate, and none shall deliuer them.
4 Seus filhos estão longe do socorro, são espezinhados às portas, e não há quem os livre.
5 The hungrie shall eate vp his haruest: yea, they shall take it from among the thornes, and the thirstie shall drinke vp their substance.
5 A sua messe, o faminto a devora e até do meio dos espinhos a arrebata; e o intrigante abocanha os seus bens.
6 For miserie commeth not foorth of the dust, neither doeth affliction spring out of the earth.
6 Porque a aflição não vem do pó, e não é da terra que brota o enfado.
7 But man is borne vnto trauaile, as the sparkes flie vpwarde.
7 Mas o homem nasce para o enfado, como as faíscas das brasas voam para cima.
8 But I would inquire at God, and turne my talke vnto God:
8 Quanto a mim, eu buscaria a Deus e a ele entregaria a minha causa;
9 Which doeth great things and vnsearchable, and marueilous things without nomber.
9 ele faz coisas grandes e inescrutáveis e maravilhas que não se podem contar;
10 He giueth raine vpon the earth, and powreth water vpon the streetes,
10 faz chover sobre a terra e envia águas sobre os campos,
11 And setteth vp on hie them that be lowe, that the sorowfull may be exalted to saluation.
11 para pôr os abatidos num lugar alto e para que os enlutados se alegrem da maior ventura.
12 He scattereth the deuices of the craftie: so that their handes can not accomplish that which they doe enterprise.
12 Ele frustra as maquinações dos astutos, para que as suas mãos não possam realizar seus projetos.
13 He taketh the wise in their craftinesse, and the counsel of the wicked is made foolish.
13 Ele apanha os sábios na sua própria astúcia; e o conselho dos que tramam se precipita.
14 They meete with darkenesse in the day time, and grope at noone day, as in the night.
14 Eles de dia encontram as trevas; ao meio-dia andam como de noite, às apalpadelas.
15 But he saueth the poore from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hande of the violent man,
15 Porém Deus salva da espada que lhes sai da boca, salva o necessitado da mão do poderoso.
16 So that the poore hath his hope, but iniquitie shall stop her mouth.
16 Assim, há esperança para o pobre, e a iniquidade tapa a sua própria boca.
17 Beholde, blessed is the man whome God correcteth: therefore refuse not thou the chastising of the Almightie.
17 Bem-aventurado é o homem a quem Deus disciplina; não desprezes, pois, a disciplina do Todo-Poderoso.
18 For he maketh the wound, and bindeth it vp: he smiteth, and his handes make whole.
18 Porque ele faz a ferida e ele mesmo a ata; ele fere, e as suas mãos curam.
19 He shall deliuer thee in sixe troubles, and in the seuenth the euill shall not touch thee.
19 De seis angústias te livrará, e na sétima o mal te não tocará.
20 In famine he shall deliuer thee from death: and in battel from the power of the sworde.
20 Na fome te livrará da morte; na guerra, do poder da espada.
21 Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue, and thou shalt not be afraid of destruction when it commeth.
21 Do açoite da língua estarás abrigado e, quando vier a assolação, não a temerás.
22 But thou shalt laugh at destruction and dearth, and shalt not be afraide of the beast of the earth.
22 Da assolação e da fome te rirás e das feras da terra não terás medo.
23 For the stones of the fielde shall be in league with thee, and the beastes of the field shall be at peace with thee.
23 Porque até com as pedras do campo terás a tua aliança, e os animais da terra viverão em paz contigo.
24 And thou shalt knowe, that peace shall be in thy tabernacle, and thou shalt visite thine habitation, and shalt not sinne.
24 Saberás que a paz é a tua tenda, percorrerás as tuas possessões, e nada te faltará.
25 Thou shalt perceiue also, that thy seede shalbe great, and thy posteritie as the grasse of the earth.
25 Saberás também que se multiplicará a tua descendência, e a tua posteridade, como a erva da terra.
26 Thou shalt goe to thy graue in a ful age, as a ricke of corne commeth in due season into the barne.
26 Em robusta velhice entrarás para a sepultura, como se recolhe o feixe de trigo a seu tempo.
27 Lo, thus haue we inquired of it, and so it is: heare this and knowe it for thy selfe.
27 Eis que isto já o havemos inquirido, e assim é; ouve-o e medita nisso para teu bem.
