1 Elihu also proceeded and sayde,
1 Depois Eliú prosseguiu nestes termos:
2 Suffer me a litle, and I will instruct thee: for I haue yet to speake on Gods behalfe.
2 Espera um pouco e te instruirei, tenho ainda palavras em defesa de Deus;
3 I will fetche my knowledge afarre off, and will attribute righteousnes vnto my Maker.
3 irei buscar longe a minha ciência, e justificarei meu Criador.
4 For truely my wordes shall not be false, and he that is perfect in knowledge, speaketh with thee.
4 Minhas palavras não são certamente mentirosas, estás tratando com um homem de ciência sólida.
5 Behold, the mighty God casteth away none that is mighty and valiant of courage.
5 Deus é poderoso, mas não é arrogante, é poderoso por sua ciência:
6 He mainteineth not the wicked, but he giueth iudgement to the afflicted.
6 não deixa viver o mau, faz justiça aos aflitos,
7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous, but they are with Kings in ye throne, where he placeth them for euer: thus they are exalted.
7 não afasta os olhos dos justos; e os faz assentar com os reis no trono, numa glória eterna.
8 And if they bee bound in fetters and tyed with the cordes of affliction,
8 Se vierem a cair presos, ou se forem atados com os laços da infelicidade,
9 Then will he shewe them their worke and their sinnes, because they haue bene proude.
9 ele lhes faz reconhecer as suas obras, e as faltas que cometeram por orgulho;
10 He openeth also their eare to discipline, and commandeth them that they returne from iniquity.
10 e abre-lhes os ouvidos para corrigi-los, e diz-lhes que renunciem à iniqüidade.
11 If they obey and serue him, they shall end their dayes in prosperity, and their yeres in pleasures.
11 Se escutam e obedecem, terminam seus dias na felicidade, e seus anos na delícia;
12 But if they wil not obey, they shall passe by the sworde, and perish without knowledge.
12 se não, morrem de um golpe, expiram por falta de sabedoria.
13 But the hypocrites of heart increase the wrath: for they call not when he bindeth them.
13 Os corações ímpios são entregues à cólera; não clamam a Deus quando ele os aprisiona,
14 Their soule dyeth in youth, and their life among the whoremongers.
14 morrem em plena mocidade, a vida deles passa como a dos efeminados.
15 He deliuereth the poore in his affliction, and openeth their eare in trouble.
15 Mas Deus salvará o pobre pela sua miséria, e o instrui pelo sofrimento.
16 Euen so woulde he haue taken thee out of the streight place into a broade place and not shut vp beneath: and that which resteth vpon thy table, had bene full of fat.
16 A ti também retirará das fauces da angústia, numa larga liberdade, e no repouso de uma mesa bem guarnecida.
17 But thou art ful of the iudgement of the wicked, though iudgement and equitie maintaine all things.
17 E tu te comportas como um malvado, com o risco de incorrer em sentença e penalidade.
18 For Gods wrath is, least hee should take that away in thine abundance: for no multitude of giftes can deliuer thee.
18 Toma cuidado para que a cólera não te inflija um castigo, e que o tamanho do resgate não te perca.
19 Wil he regard thy riches? he regardeth not golde, nor all them that excel in strength.
19 Levará ele em conta teu grito na aflição, e todos os esforços do vigor?
20 Be not carefull in the night, howe he destroyeth the people out of their place.
20 Não suspires pela noite, para que os povos voltem para seus lugares.
21 Take thou heede: looke not to iniquitie: for thou hast chosen it rather then affliction.
21 Guarda-te de declinar para a iniqüidade, e de preferir a injustiça ao sofrimento.
22 Beholde, God exalteth by his power: what teacher is like him?
22 Vê, Deus é sublime em seu poder. Que senhor lhe é comparável?
23 Who hath appointed to him his way? or who can say, Thou hast done wickedly?
23 Quem lhe fixou seu caminho? Quem pode dizer-lhe: Fizeste mal?
24 Remember that thou magnifie his worke, which men behold.
24 Antes pensa em glorificar sua obra, que os humanos celebram em seus cantos.
25 All men see it, and men beholde it afarre off.
25 Todos os homens a contemplam; o mortal a considera de longe.
26 Beholde, God is excellent, and we knowe him not, neither can the nomber of his yeres bee searched out.
26 Deus é grande demais para que o possamos conhecer; o número de seus anos é incalculável.
27 When he restraineth the droppes of water, the rayne powreth down by the vapour thereof,
27 Atrai as gotinhas de água para transformá-las em chuva no nevoeiro,
28 Which raine the cloudes do droppe and let fall abundantly vpon man.
28 as nuvens as espalham, e as destilam sobre a multidão dos homens.
29 Who can know the diuisions of ye clouds and the thunders of his tabernacle?
29 Quem pode compreender como se estendem as nuvens, e o estrépito de sua tenda?
30 Beholde, he spreadeth his light vpon it, and couereth the bottome of the sea.
30 Espalha em volta dele a sua luz, e cobre os cimos das montanhas.
31 For thereby hee iudgeth the people, and giueth meate abundantly.
31 É por esse meio que nutre os povos, e fornece-lhes abundância de alimentos.
32 He couereth the light with the clouds, and commandeth them to go against it.
32 Nas suas mãos estende o raio, fixa-lhe o alvo a atingir;
33 His companion sheweth him thereof, and there is anger in rising vp.
33 seu estrondo o anuncia, o rebanho também anuncia aquele que se aproxima.
