¹ Elihu spake moreouer, and said,

¹ Disse mais Eliú:

² Thinkest thou this right, that thou hast said, I am more righteous then God?

² Tens por direito dizeres: Maior é a minha justiça do que a de Deus?

³ For thou hast said, What profiteth it thee and what auaileth it me, to purge me from my sinne?

³ Porque dizes: Que me aproveita? Que proveito tenho mais do que se eu tivera pecado?

⁴ Therefore will I answere thee, and thy companions with thee.

⁴ Eu te darei respostas, a ti e aos teus amigos contigo.

⁵ Looke vnto the heauen, and see and behold the cloudes which are hyer then thou.

⁵ Atenta para os céus, e vê; e contempla o firmamento que é mais alto do que tu.

⁶ If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him, yea, when thy sinnes be many, what doest thou vnto him?

⁶ Se pecares, que efetuarás contra ele? Se as tuas transgressões se multiplicarem, que lhe farás com isso?

⁷ If thou be righteous, what giuest thou vnto him? or what receiueth he at thine hand?

⁷ Se fores justo, que lhe darás, ou que receberá ele da tua mão?

⁸ Thy wickednesse may hurt a man as thou art: and thy righteousnes may profite ye sonne of man.

⁸ A tua impiedade poderia fazer mal a outro tal como tu; e a tua justiça poderia aproveitar a um filho do homem.

⁹ They cause many that are oppressed, to crye, which crye out for ye violence of the mightie.

⁹ Por causa da multidão das opressões os homens clamam; clamam por socorro por causa do braço dos poderosos.

¹⁰ But none saieth, Where is God that made me, which giueth songs in the nyght?

¹⁰ Mas ninguém diz: Onde está Deus meu Criador, que inspira canções durante a noite;

¹¹ Which teacheth vs more then the beastes of the earth, and giueth vs more wisdome then the foules of the heauen.

¹¹ que nos ensina mais do que aos animais da terra, e nos faz mais sábios do que as aves do céu?

¹² Then they crye because of the violence of the wicked, but he answereth not.

¹² Ali clamam, porém ele não responde, por causa da arrogância os maus.

¹³ Surely God will not heare vanitie, neyther will the Almightie regard it.

¹³ Certo é que Deus não ouve o grito da vaidade, nem para ela atentará o Todo-Poderoso.

¹⁴ Although thou sayest to God, Thou wilt not regard it, yet iudgement is before him: trust thou in him.

¹⁴ Quanto menos quando tu dizes que não o vês. A causa está perante ele; por isso espera nele.

¹⁵ But nowe because his anger hath not visited, nor called to count the euill with great extremitie,

¹⁵ Mas agora, porque a sua ira ainda não se exerce, nem grandemente considera ele a arrogância,

¹⁶ Therfore Iob openeth his mouth in vaine, and multiplieth wordes without knowledge.

¹⁶ por isso abre Jó em vão a sua boca, e sem conhecimento multiplica palavras.
