1 Bvt Iob answered, and said,
1 Então em resposta Jó disse:
2 I haue oft times heard such things: miserable comforters are ye all.
2 “Já ouvi tudo isso antes; em vez de me consolarem, vocês me atormentam.
3 Shall there be none ende of wordes of winde? or what maketh thee bold so to answere?
3 Será que essas palavras ocas não têm fim? Por que vocês não param de me provocar?
4 I could also speake as yee doe: (but woulde God your soule were in my soules stead) I could keepe you company in speaking, and could shake mine head at you,
4 Se vocês estivessem no meu lugar, eu também poderia dizer o que estão dizendo. Eu balançaria a cabeça, com um jeito de sábio, e os esmagaria com um montão de palavras.
5 But I woulde strengthen you with my mouth, and the comfort of my lips should asswage your sorowe.
5 Ou poderia dizer palavras de ânimo e consolo para diminuir os seus sofrimentos.
6 Though I speake, my sorow can not be asswaged: though I cease, what release haue I?
6 Mas, se falo, a minha dor não se acalma, e, se me calo, o meu sofrimento não diminui.
7 But now hee maketh mee wearie: O God, thou hast made all my congregation desolate,
7 “Tu, ó Deus, me deixaste sem forças e destruíste toda a minha família.
8 And hast made me full of wrinkles which is a witnesse thereof, and my leannes ryseth vp in me, testifying the same in my face.
8 Tu me puseste numa prisão, e por isso me acusam. Virei pele e osso, e por isso os outros pensam que sou culpado.
9 His wrath hath torne me, and hee hateth me, and gnasheth vpon mee with his teeth: mine enemie hath sharpened his eyes against me.
9 “Na sua ira Deus me arrasou completamente; ele olha para mim com ódio e, como uma fera, me persegue e ameaça.
10 They haue opened their mouthes vpon me, and smitten me on the cheeke in reproch; they gather themselues together against me.
10 Todos me ameaçam, abrem a boca para zombar de mim e me dão bofetadas para me humilhar.
11 God hath deliuered me to the vniust, and hath made mee to turne out of the way by the hands of the wicked.
11 Deus me entregou a homens perversos; ele me fez cair nas mãos de gente má.
12 I was in welth, but he hath brought me to nought: he hath taken me by the necke, and beaten me, and set me as a marke for himselfe.
12 Eu vivia em paz, mas ele me esmagou; Deus me pegou pela garganta e me quebrou. Ele fez de mim o seu alvo
13 His archers compasse mee rounde about: he cutteth my reines, and doth not spare, and powreth my gall vpon the ground.
13 e de todos os lados disparou as suas flechas; elas atravessaram os meus rins, sem dó nem piedade, e também a minha bílis correu pelo chão.
14 He hath broken me with one breaking vpon another, and runneth vpon me like a gyant.
14 Como um soldado, ele avançou contra mim e me arrebentou todo, com golpes e mais golpes.
15 I haue sowed a sackcloth vpon my skinne, and haue abased mine horne vnto the dust.
15 “Em sinal de tristeza, vesti uma roupa feita de pano grosseiro e, humilhado, sentei-me no pó.
16 My face is withered with weeping, and the shadow of death is vpon mine eyes,
16 Tenho chorado tanto, que o meu rosto está queimando, e estou com olheiras fundas e escuras.
17 Though there be no wickednesse in mine hands, and my prayer be pure.
17 No entanto, nunca fui violento, e as minhas orações sempre foram sinceras.
18 O earth, couer not thou my blood, and let my crying finde no place.
18 “Ó terra, não esconda as injustiças que fizeram contra mim! Não deixe que seja abafado o meu grito pedindo justiça!
19 For lo, now my witnesse is in the heauen, and my record is on hie.
19 Eu sei que no céu tenho quem me defenda; o meu advogado lá está.
20 My friends speake eloquently against me: but mine eye powreth out teares vnto God.
20 Os meus amigos zombam de mim; e eu me volto para Deus com lágrimas nos olhos.
21 Oh that a man might pleade with God, as man with his neighbour!
21 Assim como alguém defende o seu amigo, eu preciso de quem defenda o meu direito diante de Deus.
22 For the yeeres accounted come, and I shall go the way, whence I shall not returne.
22 Os meus anos de vida estão contados, e eu vou pelo caminho que não tem retorno.
