1 “For the leader of the music. On the Gittith. A psalm of Asaph.” Sing joyfully to God, our strength! Shout with gladness to the God of Jacob!
1 Cantai de júbilo a Deus, força nossa; celebrai o Deus de Jacó.
2 Raise a song, and strike the timbrel, The sweet-sounding harp, and the psaltery!
2 Salmodiai e fazei soar o tamboril, a suave harpa com o saltério.
3 Blow the trumpet at the new moon; At the full moon, also, on our festal day!
3 Tocai a trombeta na Festa da Lua Nova, na lua cheia, dia da nossa festa.
4 For this is a statute for Israel, A law of the God of Jacob;
4 É preceito para Israel, é prescrição do Deus de Jacó.
5 He appointed it as a memorial in Joseph, When he went out of the land of Egypt, Where he heard a language which he knew not.
5 Ele o ordenou, como lei, a José, ao sair contra a terra do Egito. Ouço uma linguagem que eu não conhecera.
6 “I relieved [[said he]] thy shoulders from their burden; Thy hands were removed from the hod.
6 Livrei os seus ombros do peso, e suas mãos foram livres dos cestos.
7 Thou didst call in trouble, and I delivered thee; In the secret place of thunder I answered thee; I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. [[Pause.]]
7 Clamaste na angústia, e te livrei; do recôndito do trovão eu te respondi e te experimentei junto às águas de Meribá.
8 Hear, O my people! and I will admonish thee! O Israel! that thou wouldst hearken to me!
8 Ouve, povo meu, quero exortar-te. Ó Israel, se me escutasses!
9 Let there be no strange god within thee, Nor worship thou any foreign god!
9 Não haja no meio de ti deus alheio, nem te prostres ante deus estranho.
10 I Jehovah am thy God, Who brought thee out of the land of Egypt: Open wide thy mouth, and I will fill it!
10 Eu sou o Senhor , teu Deus, que te tirei da terra do Egito. Abre bem a boca, e ta encherei.
11 But my people would not listen to my voice, And Israel would not hearken to me.
11 Mas o meu povo não me quis escutar a voz, e Israel não me atendeu.
12 So I gave them up to the obstinacy of their hearts, And they walked according to their own devices.
12 Assim, deixei-o andar na teimosia do seu coração; siga os seus próprios conselhos.
13 “O that my people had hearkened to me! That Israel had walked in my ways!
13 Ah! Se o meu povo me escutasse, se Israel andasse nos meus caminhos!
14 Soon would I have brought low their enemies, And turned my hand against their adversaries.
14 Eu, de pronto, lhe abateria o inimigo e deitaria mão contra os seus adversários.
15 The haters of Jehovah should have become suppliants to them, And their prosperity should have endured for ever.
15 Os que aborrecem ao Senhor se lhe submeteriam, e isto duraria para sempre.
16 With the finest of the wheat I would have fed them, And with honey out of the rock would I have satisfied them.”
16 Eu o sustentaria com o trigo mais fino e o saciaria com o mel que escorre da rocha.
