1 Job also added, taking up his parable, and said:
1 Então Jó continuou sua parábola, e disse:
2 Who will grant me, that I might be according to the months past, according to the days in which God kept me?
2 Ah! Se eu estivesse como em meses passados, como nos dias quando Deus me preservava;
3 When his lamp shined over my head, and I walked by his light in darkness?
3 quando sua candeia brilhava sobre minha cabeça, e quando pela sua luz eu andava através das trevas.
4 As I was in the days of my youth, when God was secretly in my tabernacle?
4 Como eu fui nos dias da minha juventude, quando o segredo de Deus estava sobre o meu tabernáculo;
5 When the Almighty was with me: and my servants round about me?
5 quando o Todo-Poderoso ainda estava comigo; quando os meus filhos estavam ao meu redor;
6 When I washed my feet with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil?
6 quando eu lavava os meus passos com manteiga, e a rocha me derramava rios de óleo;
7 When I went out to the gate of the city, and in the street they prepared me a chair?
7 quando eu saía através da cidade até o portão; quando eu preparava meu assento na rua!
8 The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the old men rose up and stood.
8 Os homens jovens me viam, e se escondiam, e os idosos se levantavam e punham-se em pé;
9 The princes ceased to speak, and laid the finger on their mouth.
9 os príncipes continham o falar, e punham sua mão sobre a boca;
10 The rulers held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to their throat.
10 os nobres ficavam quietos, e sua língua se prendia ao céu de sua boca.
11 The ear that heard me blessed me, and the eye that saw me gave witness to me:
11 Quando o ouvido me ouvia, então me abençoava; e quando o olho me via, dava-me testemunho.
12 Because I had delivered the poor man that cried out; and the fatherless that had no helper.
12 Porque eu livrava o pobre que clamava, e o órfão, e aquele que não tinha ninguém para ajudá-lo.
13 The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me, and I comforted the heart of the widow.
13 A bênção daquele que estava pronto para perecer vinha sobre mim, e eu fazia com que o coração da viúva cantasse de alegria.
14 I was clad with justice: and I clothed myself with my judgment, as with a robe and a diadem.
14 Eu punha a justiça sobre mim e ela me vestia; meu julgamento era como um manto e um diadema.
15 I was an eye to the blind, and a foot to the lame.
15 Eu era os olhos do cego, e pés eu era para o coxo.
16 I was the father of the poor: and the cause which I knew not, I searched out most diligently.
16 Eu era um pai para os pobres; e a causa que eu não conhecia, eu examinava.
17 I broke the jaws of the wicked man, and out of his teeth I took away the prey.
17 E eu quebrava as mandíbulas do perverso, e arrancava a presa de seus dentes.
18 And I said: I shall die in my nest, and as a palm tree shall multiply my days.
18 Então eu dizia: Morrerei no meu ninho, e multiplicarei os meus dias como a areia.
19 My root is opened beside the waters, and dew shall continue in my harvest.
19 A minha raiz estava espalhada pelas águas, e o orvalho permanecia toda a noite sobre meu galho.
20 My glory shall always be renewed, and my bow in my hand shall be repaired.
20 Minha glória estava fresca em mim, e o meu arco se renovava na minha mão.
21 They that heard me, waited for my sentence, and being attentive held their peace at my counsel.
21 A mim os homens davam ouvidos, e esperavam, e faziam silêncio pelo meu conselho.
22 To my words they durst add nothing, and my speech dropped upon them.
22 Depois de minhas palavras eles não falavam novamente, e meu discurso caía sobre eles.
23 They waited for me as for rain, and they opened their mouth as for a latter shower.
23 E esperavam por mim como que pela chuva; e abriam a sua boca amplamente, como para a chuva serôdia.
24 If at any time I laughed on them, they believed not, and the light of my countenance fell not on earth.
24 Se eu risse para eles, não o criam, e a luz do meu semblante eles não diminuíam.
25 If I had a mind to go to them, I sat first, and when I sat as a king, with his army standing about him, yet I was a comforter of them that mourned.
25 Eu escolhia o seu caminho, assentava-me como chefe, e habitava como um rei no exército; como aquele que consola os que pranteiam.
