1 The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.
1 Fogem os ímpios, sem que ninguém os persiga; mas qualquer justo está confiado como o filho do leão.
2 Because of the transgression of a land, many are its rulers; but a reign is prolonged by a man of discernment and knowledge.
2 Por causa da transgressão da terra, muitos são os seus príncipes, mas, por virtude de homens prudentes e sábios, ela continuará.
3 A poor man who oppresses the lowly is like a sweeping rain which leaves no food.
3 O homem pobre que oprime os pobres é como chuva impetuosa, que não deixa nenhum trigo.
4 Those who forsake the Law praise the wicked, but those who keep the Law strive against them.
4 Os que deixam a lei louvam o ímpio; mas os que guardam a lei pelejam contra eles.
5 Evil men do not understand justice; but those who seek Jehovah understand all things.
5 Os homens maus não entendem o juízo, mas os que buscam o Senhor entendem tudo.
6 Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than he who is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
6 Melhor é o pobre que anda na sua sinceridade do que o de caminhos perversos, ainda que seja rico.
7 Whoever keeps the Law is an understanding son, but a companion of gluttons shames his father.
7 O que guarda a lei é filho sábio, mas o companheiro dos comilões envergonha a seu pai.
8 He who increases his wealth by interest and usury, gathers it for him who will pity the poor.
8 O que aumenta a sua fazenda com usura e onzena ajunta-a para o que se compadece do pobre.
9 He who turns away his ear from hearing the Law, even his prayer is an abomination.
9 O que desvia os seus ouvidos de ouvir a lei, até a sua oração será abominável.
10 Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, he himself shall fall into his own pit; but the one who is perfect shall possess the good.
10 O que faz com que os retos se desviem para um mau caminho, ele mesmo cairá na sua cova; mas os sinceros herdarão o bem.
11 The rich man is wise in his own eyes; but the poor who has understanding searches him out.
11 O homem rico é sábio aos seus próprios olhos; mas o pobre que é sábio o examina.
12 When the righteous rejoice, there is great glory; but when the wicked arise, men hide themselves.
12 Quando os justos triunfam, há grande alegria; mas, quando os ímpios sobem, os homens escondem-se.
13 He who covers his sins shall not prosper; but he who confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.
13 O que encobre as suas transgressões nunca prosperará; mas o que as confessa e deixa alcançará misericórdia.
14 Blessed is the man who is continually in awe, but he who hardens his heart shall fall into evil.
14 Bem-aventurado o homem que continuamente teme; mas o que endurece o seu coração virá a cair no mal.
15 Like a roaring lion and a ranging bear, so is a wicked ruler over the lowly people.
15 Como leão bramidor e urso faminto, assim é o ímpio que domina sobre um povo pobre.
16 A ruler lacking understanding is abundant in extortions; he who hates unjust gain shall prolong his days.
16 O príncipe falto de inteligência também multiplica as opressões, mas o que aborrece a avareza prolongará os seus dias.
17 A man who is oppressed with the blood of a soul shall flee to the pit; let no one support him.
17 O homem carregado do sangue de qualquer pessoa fugirá até à cova; ninguém o detenha.
18 Whoever walks in integrity shall be delivered; but he who is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.
18 O que anda sinceramente salvar-se-á, mas o perverso em seus caminhos cairá logo.
19 He who tills his land shall have plenty of bread, but he who pursues vanities shall have poverty enough.
19 O que lavrar a sua terra virá a fartar-se de pão, mas o que segue a ociosos se fartará de pobreza.
20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings, but he who makes haste to be rich shall not be found innocent.
20 O homem fiel abundará em bênçãos, mas o que se apressa a enriquecer não ficará sem castigo.
21 To show partiality is not good; because, for a piece of bread a man will transgress.
21 Ter respeito à aparência de pessoas não é bom, porque até por um bocado de pão o homem prevaricará.
22 He who hastens to be rich has an evil eye, and does not recognize that poverty will come upon him.
22 Aquele que tem um olho mau corre atrás das riquezas, mas não sabe que há de vir sobre ele a pobreza.
23 He who rebukes a man shall afterwards find more favor than he who flatters with the tongue.
23 O que repreende ao homem achará depois mais favor do que aquele que lisonjeia com a língua.
24 He who robs his father or his mother and says, It is no transgression, is a companion to a man who destroys.
24 O que rouba a seu pai ou a sua mãe e diz: Não há transgressão, companheiro é do destruidor.
25 He who is of a proud soul stirs up strife; but he who puts his trust in Jehovah shall be made fat.
25 O altivo de ânimo levanta contendas, mas o que confia no Senhor engordará.
26 He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whoever walks wisely shall be delivered.
26 O que confia no seu próprio coração é insensato, mas o que anda sabiamente escapará.
27 He who gives to the poor shall not lack, but he who hides his eyes shall have many a curse.
27 O que dá ao pobre não terá necessidade, mas o que esconde os olhos terá muitas maldições.
28 When the wicked arise, men hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous increase.
28 Quando os ímpios sobem, os homens se escondem, mas, quando eles perecem, os justos se multiplicam.
