1 Mi sone, if thou resseyuest my wordis, `and hidist myn heestis anentis thee;
1 Filho meu, se aceitares as minhas palavras, e entesourares contigo os meus mandamentos,
2 that thin eere here wisdom, bowe thin herte to knowe prudence.
2 para fazeres atento à sabedoria o teu ouvido, e para inclinares o teu coração ao entendimento;
3 For if thou inwardli clepist wisdom, and bowist thin herte to prudence;
3 sim, se clamares por discernimento, e por entendimento alçares a tua voz;
4 if thou sekist it as money, and diggist it out as tresours;
4 se o buscares como a prata e o procurares como a tesouros escondidos;
5 thanne thou schalt vndirstonde the drede of the Lord, and schalt fynde the kunnyng of God.
5 então entenderás o temor do Senhor, e acharás o conhecimento de Deus.
6 For the Lord yyueth wisdom; and prudence and kunnyng is of his mouth.
6 Porque o Senhor dá a sabedoria; da sua boca procedem o conhecimento e o entendimento;
7 He schal kepe the heelthe of riytful men, and he schal defende hem that goen sympli.
7 ele reserva a verdadeira sabedoria para os retos; e escudo para os que caminham em integridade,
8 And he schal kepe the pathis of riytfulnesse, and he schal kepe the weies of hooli men.
8 guardando-lhes as veredas da justiça, e preservando o caminho dos seus santos.
9 Thanne thou schalt vndirstonde riytfulnesse, and dom, and equytee, and ech good path.
9 Então entenderás a retidão, a justiça, a eqüidade, e todas as boas veredas.
10 If wysdom entrith in to thin herte, and kunnyng plesith thi soule,
10 Pois a sabedoria entrará no teu coração, e o conhecimento será aprazível à tua alma;
11 good councel schal kepe thee, and prudence schal kepe thee; that thou be delyuered fro an yuel weie,
11 o bom siso te protegerá, e o discernimento e guardará;
12 and fro a man that spekith weiward thingis.
12 para te livrar do mau caminho, e do homem que diz coisas perversas;
13 Whiche forsaken a riytful weie, and goen bi derk weies;
13 dos que deixam as veredas da retidão, para andarem pelos caminhos das trevas;
14 whiche ben glad, whanne thei han do yuel, and maken ful out ioye in worste thingis;
14 que se alegram de fazer o mal, e se deleitam nas perversidades dos maus;
15 whose weies ben weywerd, and her goyingis ben of yuel fame.
15 dos que são tortuosos nas suas veredas; e iníquos nas suas carreiras;
16 That thou be delyuered fro an alien womman, and fro a straunge womman, that makith soft hir wordis;
16 e para te livrar da mulher estranha, da estrangeira que lisonjeia com suas palavras;
17 and forsakith the duyk of hir tyme of mariage,
17 a qual abandona o companheiro da sua mocidade e se esquece do concerto do seu Deus;
18 and hath foryete the couenaunt of hir God. For the hous of hir is bowid to deeth, and hir pathis to helle.
18 pois a sua casa se inclina para a morte, e as suas veredas para as sombras.
19 Alle that entren to hir, schulen not turne ayen, nether schulen catche the pathis of lijf.
19 Nenhum dos que se dirigirem a ela, tornara a sair, nem retomará as veredas da vida.
20 That thou go in a good weie, and kepe the pathis of iust men.
20 Assim andarás pelo caminho dos bons, e guardarás as veredas dos justos.
21 Forsothe thei that ben riytful, schulen dwelle in the lond; and symple men schulen perfitli dwelle ther ynne.
21 Porque os retos habitarão a terra, e os íntegros permanecerão nela.
22 But vnfeithful men schulen be lost fro the loond; and thei that doen wickidli, schulen be takun awey fro it.
22 Mas os ímpios serão exterminados da terra, e dela os aleivosos serão desarraigados.
