1 For, since the Law exhibits only an outline of the blessings to come and not a perfect representation of the things themselves, the priests can never, by repeating the same sacrifices which they continually offer year after year, give complete freedom from sin to those who draw near.
1 A lei dada por Moisés não é um modelo completo e fiel das coisas verdadeiras; é apenas uma sombra das coisas boas que estão para vir. Os mesmos sacrifícios são oferecidos sempre, ano após ano. Portanto, como pode a lei, por meio desses sacrifícios, aperfeiçoar as pessoas que chegam perto de Deus?
2 For then would not the sacrifices have ceased to be offered, because the consciences of the worshippers –who in that case would now have been cleansed once for all– would no longer be burdened with sins?
2 Se as pessoas que adoram a Deus tivessem sido purificadas dos seus pecados, não se sentiriam mais culpadas de nenhum pecado, e todos os sacrifícios terminariam.
3 But in those sacrifices sins are recalled to memory year after year.
3 Em vez disso esses sacrifícios, realizados ano após ano, servem para fazer com que as pessoas lembrem dos seus pecados.
4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
4 Pois o sangue de touros e de bodes não pode, de modo nenhum, tirar os pecados de ninguém.
5 That is why, when He comes into the world, He says, »Sacrifice and offering Thou has not desired, but a body Thou hast prepared for Me.
5 Por isso Cristo, ao entrar no mundo, disse: “Tu, ó Deus, não queres animais oferecidos em sacrifícios nem ofertas de cereais, mas preparaste um corpo para mim.
6 In whole burnt-offerings and in sin-offerings Thou hast taken no pleasure.
6 Não te agradam as ofertas de animais queimados inteiros no altar nem os sacrifícios oferecidos para tirar pecados.
7 Then I said, `I have come –in the roll of the book it is written concerning Me– to do Thy will, O God.'«
7 Então eu disse: — Estou aqui, ó Deus; venho fazer a tua vontade, assim como está escrito a meu respeito no
8 After saying the words I have just quoted, »Sacrifices and offerings or whole burnt-offerings and sin-offerings Thou hast not desired or taken pleasure in« –all such being offered in obedience to the Law–
8 Primeiro ele disse: “Tu não queres sacrifícios ou ofertas de animais, e não te agradam as ofertas dos animais queimados inteiros no altar nem os sacrifícios oferecidos para tirar pecados.” Ele disse isso embora todos os sacrifícios sejam oferecidos de acordo com a lei.
9 He then adds, »I have come to do Thy will.« He does away with the first in order to establish the second.
9 Depois ele disse: “Estou aqui, ó Deus, para fazer a tua vontade.” Assim Deus acabou com todos os antigos sacrifícios e pôs no lugar deles o sacrifício de Cristo.
10 It is through that divine will that we have been set free from sin, through the offering of Jesus Christ as our sacrifice once for all.
10 E, porque Jesus Cristo fez o que Deus quis, nós somos purificados do pecado pela oferta que ele fez, uma vez por todas, do seu próprio corpo.
11 And while every priest stands ministering, day after day, and constantly offering the same sacrifices –though such can never rid us of our sins–
11 Todo sacerdote judeu cumpre todos os dias os seus deveres religiosos e oferece muitas vezes os mesmos sacrifícios, mas estes nunca poderão tirar pecados.
12 this Priest, on the contrary, after offering for sins a single sacrifice of perpetual efficacy, took His seat at God's right hand,
12 Porém Jesus Cristo ofereceu só um sacrifício para tirar pecados, uma oferta que vale para sempre, e depois sentou-se do lado direito de Deus.
13 waiting from that time onward until His enemies be put as a footstool under His feet.
13 Ali Jesus está esperando até que Deus ponha os seus inimigos como estrado debaixo dos pés dele.
14 For by a single offering He has for ever completed the blessing for those whom He is setting free from sin.
14 Assim, com um sacrifício só, ele aperfeiçoou para sempre os que são purificados do pecado.
15 And the Holy Spirit also gives us His testimony; for when He had said,
15 E o Espírito Santo também nos dá o seu testemunho sobre isso. Primeiro ele diz:
16 »`This is the Covenant that I will make with them after those days,' says the Lord: `I will put My laws upon their hearts and will write them on their minds;'«
16 “Quando esse tempo chegar, diz o Senhor, eu farei com o povo de Israel esta Porei as minhas leis no coração deles e na mente deles as escreverei.”
17 He adds, »And their sins and offences I will remember no longer.«
17 Depois ele diz: “Não lembrarei mais dos seus pecados nem das suas maldades.”
18 But where these have been forgiven no further offering for sin is required.
18 Assim, quando os pecados são perdoados, já não há mais necessidade de oferta para tirá-los.
19 Since then, brethren, we have free access to the Holy place through the blood of Jesus,
19 Por isso, irmãos, por causa da morte de Jesus na cruz nós temos completa liberdade de entrar no Lugar Santíssimo .
20 by the new and ever-living way which He opened up for us through the rending of the veil –that is to say, of His earthly nature–
20 Por meio da cortina, isto é, por meio do seu próprio corpo, ele nos abriu um caminho novo e vivo.
21 and since we have a great Priest who has authority over the house of God,
21 Nós temos um Grande Sacerdote para dirigir a casa de Deus.
22 let us draw near with sincerity and unfaltering faith, having had our hearts sprinkled, once for all, from consciences oppressed with sin, and our bodies bathed in pure water.
22 Portanto, cheguemos perto de Deus com um coração sincero e uma fé firme, com a consciência limpa das nossas culpas e com o corpo lavado com água pura.
23 Let us hold firmly to an unflinching avowal of our hope, for He is faithful who gave us the promises.
23 Guardemos firmemente a esperança da fé que professamos, pois podemos confiar que Deus cumprirá as suas promessas.
24 And let us bestow thought on one another with a view to arousing one another to brotherly love and right conduct;
24 Pensemos uns nos outros a fim de ajudarmos todos a terem mais amor e a fazerem o bem.
25 not neglecting –as some habitually do– to meet together, but encouraging one another, and doing this all the more since you can see the day of Christ approaching.
25 Não abandonemos, como alguns estão fazendo, o costume de assistir às nossas reuniões. Pelo contrário, animemos uns aos outros e ainda mais agora que vocês veem que o dia está chegando.
26 For if we wilfully persist in sin after having received the full knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains in reserve any other sacrifice for sins.
26 Pois, se continuarmos a pecar de propósito, depois de conhecer a verdade, já não há mais sacrifício que possa tirar os nossos pecados.
27 There remains nothing but a certain awful expectation of judgement, and the fury of a fire which before long will devour the enemies of the truth.
27 Pelo contrário, resta apenas o medo do que acontecerá: medo do Julgamento e do fogo violento que destruirá os que são contra Deus.
28 Any one who bids defiance to the Law of Moses is put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
28 Quem desobedece à lei de Moisés é condenado sem dó à morte, se for julgado culpado depois de ouvido o testemunho de duas pessoas, pelo menos.
29 How much severer punishment, think you, will he be held to deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, has not regarded as holy that Covenant-blood with which he was set free from sin, and has insulted the Spirit from whom comes grace?
29 Então, o que será que vai acontecer com os que desprezam o Filho de Deus e consideram como coisa sem valor o sangue da aliança de Deus, que os purificou ? E o que acontecerá com quem insulta o Espírito do Deus, que o ama? Imaginem como será pior ainda o castigo que essa pessoa vai merecer!
30 For we know who it is that has said, »Vengeance belongs to Me: I will pay back;« and again, »The Lord will be His people's judge.«
30 Pois sabemos quem foi que disse: “Eu me vingarei, eu acertarei contas com eles.” E quem também disse: “O Senhor julgará o seu povo.”
31 It is an awful thing to fall into the hands of the ever-living God.
31 Que coisa terrível é cair nas mãos do Deus vivo!
32 But continually recall to mind the days now past, when on being first enlightened you went through a great conflict and many sufferings.
32 Lembrem do que aconteceu no passado. Naqueles dias, depois que a luz de Deus os iluminou, vocês sofreram muitas coisas, mas não foram vencidos na luta.
33 This was partly through allowing yourselves to be made a public spectacle amid reproaches and persecutions, and partly through coming forward to share the sufferings of those who were thus treated.
33 Alguns foram insultados e maltratados publicamente, e em outras ocasiões vocês estavam prontos para tomar parte no sofrimento dos que foram tratados assim.
34 For you not only showed sympathy with those who were imprisoned, but you even submitted with joy when your property was taken from you, being well aware that you have in your own selves a more valuable possession and one which will remain.
34 Vocês participaram do sofrimento dos prisioneiros. E, quando tudo o que vocês tinham foi tirado, vocês suportaram isso com alegria porque sabiam que possuíam uma coisa muito melhor, que dura para sempre.
35 Therefore do not cast from you your confident hope, for it will receive a vast reward.
35 Portanto, não percam a coragem, pois ela traz uma grande recompensa.
36 For you stand in need of patient endurance, so that, as the result of having done the will of God, you may receive the promised blessing.
36 Vocês precisam ter paciência para poder fazer a vontade de Deus e receber o que ele promete.
37 For there is still but a short time and then »The coming One will come and will not delay.
37 Pois, como ele diz nas Escrituras Sagradas : “Um pouco mais de tempo, um pouco mesmo, e virá aquele que tem de vir; ele não vai demorar.
38 But it is by faith that My righteous servant shall live; and if he shrinks back, My soul takes no pleasure in him.«
38 E todos aqueles que eu aceito terão fé em mim e viverão. Mas, se uma pessoa voltar atrás, eu não ficarei contente com ela.”
39 But we are not people who shrink back and perish, but are among those who believe and gain possession of their souls.
39 Nós não somos gente que volta atrás e se perde. Pelo contrário, temos fé e somos salvos.
