Lucas 18

1 Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and never despair.
1 Então Jesus contou aos seus discípulos uma parábola, para mostrar-lhes que eles deviam orar sempre e nunca desanimar.
2 “There was,”he said, “in a certain town a judge, who had no fear of God nor regard for people.
2 Ele disse: "Em certa cidade havia um juiz que não temia a Deus nem se importava com os homens.
3 In the same town there was a widow who went to him again and again, and said ‘Grant me justice against my opponent.’
3 E havia naquela cidade uma viúva que se dirigia continuamente a ele, suplicando-lhe: ‘Faze-me justiça contra o meu adversário’.
4 For a time the judge refused, but afterwards he said to himself ‘Although I am without fear of God or regard for people,
4 "Por algum tempo ele se recusou. Mas finalmente disse a si mesmo: ‘Embora eu não tema a Deus e nem me importe com os homens,
5 yet, as this widow is so troublesome, I will grant her justice, to stop her from plaguing me with her endless visits.’”
5 esta viúva está me aborrecendo; vou fazer-lhe justiça para que ela não venha me importunar’ ".
6 Then the Master added: “Listen to what this iniquitous judge says!
6 E o Senhor continuou: "Ouçam o que diz o juiz injusto.
7 And God — will not he see that his own people, who cry to him night and day, have justice done them — though he holds his hand?
7 Acaso Deus não fará justiça aos seus escolhidos, que clamam a ele dia e noite? Continuará fazendo-os esperar?
8 He will, I tell you, give them justice soon enough! Yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
8 Eu lhes digo: ele lhes fará justiça, e depressa. Contudo, quando o Filho do homem vier, encontrará fé na terra? "
9 Another time, speaking to people who were satisfied that they were religious, and who regarded everyone else with scorn, Jesus told this parable —
9 A alguns que confiavam em sua própria justiça e desprezavam os outros, Jesus contou esta parábola:
10 “Two men went up into the Temple Courts to pray. One was a Pharisee and the other a tax-gatherer.
10 "Dois homens subiram ao templo para orar; um era fariseu e o outro, publicano.
11 The Pharisee stood forward and began praying to himself in this way — ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men — thieves, rogues, adulterers — or even like this tax-gatherer.
11 O fariseu, em pé, orava no íntimo: ‘Deus, eu te agradeço porque não sou como os outros homens: ladrões, corruptos, adúlteros; nem mesmo como este publicano.
12 I fast twice a week, and give a tenth of everything I get to God.’
12 Jejuo duas vezes por semana e dou o dízimo de tudo quanto ganho’.
13 Meanwhile the tax-gatherer stood at a distance, not venturing even ‘to raise his eyes to heaven’; but he kept striking his breast and saying ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
13 "Mas o publicano ficou à distância. Ele nem ousava olhar para o céu, mas batendo no peito, dizia: ‘Deus, tem misericórdia de mim, que sou pecador’.
14 This man, I tell you, went home pardoned, rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, while everyone who humbles himself will be exalted.”
14 "Eu lhes digo que este homem, e não o outro, foi para casa justificado diante de Deus. Pois quem se exalta será humilhado, e quem se humilha será exaltado".
15 Some of the people were bringing even their babies to Jesus, for him to touch them; but, when the disciples saw it, they began to find fault with those who had brought them.
15 O povo também estava trazendo criancinhas para que Jesus tocasse nelas. Ao verem isto, os discípulos repreendiam os que as tinham trazido.
16 Jesus, however, called the little children to him. “Let the little children come to me,”he said, “and do not hinder them; for it is to the childlike that the kingdom of God belongs.
16 Mas Jesus chamou a si as crianças e disse: "Deixem vir a mim as crianças e não as impeçam; pois o Reino de Deus pertence aos que são semelhantes a elas.
17 I tell you, unless a man receives the kingdom of God like a child, he will not enter it at all.”
17 Digo-lhes a verdade: Quem não receber o Reino de Deus como uma criança, nunca entrará nele".
18 And one of the Presidents asked Jesus this question — “Good teacher, what must I do if I am to gain eternal life?”
18 Certo homem importante lhe perguntou: "Bom Mestre, que farei para herdar a vida eterna? "
19 “Why do you call me good?”answered Jesus. “No one is good but God.
19 "Por que você me chama bom? ", respondeu Jesus. "Não há ninguém que seja bom, a não ser somente Deus.
20 You know the commandments — ‘Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not say what is false about others, Honor your father and your mother.’”
20 Você conhece os mandamentos: ‘Não adulterarás, não matarás, não furtarás, não darás falso testemunho, honra teu pai e tua mãe’".
21 “I have observed all these,” he replied, “from childhood.”
21 "A tudo isso tenho obedecido desde a adolescência", disse ele.
22 Hearing this, Jesus said to him: “There is one thing still lacking in you; sell everything that you have, and distribute to the poor, and you will have wealth in heaven; then come and follow me.”
22 Ao ouvir isso, disse-lhe Jesus: "Falta-lhe ainda uma coisa. Venda tudo o que você possui e dê o dinheiro aos pobres, e você terá um tesouro nos céus. Depois venha e siga-me".
23 But the man became greatly distressed on hearing this, for he was extremely rich.
23 Ouvindo isso, ele ficou triste, porque era muito rico.
24 Seeing this, Jesus said to his disciples: “How hard it is for the wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!
24 Vendo-o entristecido, Jesus disse: "Como é difícil aos ricos entrar no Reino de Deus!
25 It is easier, indeed, for a camel to get through a needle’s eye than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God!”
25 De fato, é mais fácil passar um camelo pelo fundo de uma agulha do que um rico entrar no Reino de Deus".
26 “Then who can be saved?” asked those who heard this.
26 Os que ouviram isso perguntaram: "Então, quem pode ser salvo? "
27 But Jesus said: “What is impossible with people is possible with God.”
27 Jesus respondeu: "O que é impossível para os homens é possível para Deus".
28 “But we,” said Peter, “we left what belonged to us and followed you.”
28 Pedro lhe disse: "Nós deixamos tudo o que tínhamos para seguir-te! "
29 “I tell you,”he answered, “that there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,
29 Respondeu Jesus: "Digo-lhes a verdade: Ninguém que tenha deixado casa, mulher, irmãos, pai ou filhos por causa do Reino de Deus
30 who will not receive many times as much in the present, and in the age that is coming eternal life.”
30 deixará de receber, na presente era, muitas vezes mais, e, na era futura, a vida eterna".
31 Gathering the Twelve around him, Jesus said to them: “Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem; and there everything that is written in the prophets will be done to the Son of Man.
31 Jesus chamou à parte os Doze e lhes disse: "Estamos subindo para Jerusalém, e tudo o que está escrito pelos profetas acerca do Filho do homem se cumprirá.
32 For he will be given up to the Gentiles, mocked, insulted and spat on;
32 Ele será entregue aos gentios que zombarão dele, o insultarão, cuspirão nele, o açoitarão e o matarão.
33 they will scourge him, and then put him to death; and on the third day he will rise again.”
33 No terceiro dia ele ressuscitará".
34 The apostles did not comprehend any of this; his meaning was unintelligible to them, and they did not understand what he was saying.
34 Os discípulos não entenderam nada dessas coisas. O significado dessas palavras lhes estava oculto, e eles não sabiam do que ele estava falando.
35 As Jesus was getting near Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside, begging.
35 Ao aproximar-se Jesus de Jericó, um homem cego estava sentado à beira do caminho, pedindo esmola.
36 Hearing a crowd going by, the man asked what was the matter;
36 Quando ouviu a multidão passando, ele perguntou o que estava acontecendo.
37 and, when people told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing,
37 Disseram-lhe: "Jesus de Nazaré está passando".
38 he shouted out: “Jesus, Son of David, take pity on me!”
38 Então ele se pôs a gritar: "Jesus, filho de Davi, tem misericórdia de mim! "
39 Those who were in front kept telling him to be quiet, but he continued to call out the louder: “Son of David, take pity on me!”
39 Os que iam adiante o repreendiam para que ficasse quieto, mas ele gritava ainda mais: "Filho de Davi, tem misericórdia de mim! "
40 Then Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. And, when he had come close up to him, Jesus asked him:
40 Jesus parou e ordenou que o homem lhe fosse trazido. Quando ele chegou perto, Jesus perguntou-lhe:
41 “What do you want me to do for you?” “Master,” he said, “I want to recover my sight.”
41 "O que você quer que eu lhe faça? " "Senhor, eu quero ver", respondeu ele.
42 And Jesus said: “Recover your sight, your faith has delivered you.”
42 Jesus lhe disse: "Recupere a visão! A sua fé o curou".
43 Instantly he recovered his sight, and began to follow Jesus, praising God. And all the people, on seeing it, gave glory to God.
43 Imediatamente ele recuperou a visão; e seguia a Jesus glorificando a Deus. Quando todo o povo viu isso, deu louvores a Deus.
