1 “Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak, and let the earth hear the words of my mouth.
1 Inclinai os ouvidos, ó céus, e falarei; e ouça a terra as palavras da minha boca.
2 May my teaching trickle like the dew, my words like rain showers on tender grass, and like spring showers on new growth.
2 Caia como a chuva a minha doutrina; destile a minha palavra como o orvalho, como chuvisco sobre a erva e como chuvas sobre a relva.
3 For I will proclaim the name of Yahweh; ascribe greatness to our God!
3 Porque proclamarei o nome do Senhor; engrandecei o nosso Deus.
4 The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are just; he is a faithful God, and ⌞without injustice⌟; righteous and upright is he.
4 Ele é a Rocha; suas obras são perfeitas, porque todos os seus caminhos são justos; Deus é fiel e sem iniqüidade; justo e reto é ele.
5 They have behaved corruptly toward him; they are not his children; this is their flaw, a generation crooked and perverse.
5 Corromperam-se contra ele; não são seus filhos, e isso é a sua mancha; geração perversa e depravada é.
6 Like this do you treat Yahweh, foolish and ⌞unwise⌟ people? Has he not, your father, created you? He made you, and he established you.
6 É assim que recompensas ao Senhor, povo louco e insensato? não é ele teu pai, que te adquiriu, que te fez e te estabeleceu?
7 Remember the old days, ⌞the years long past⌟; ask your father, and he will inform you, your elders and they will tell you.
7 Lembra-te dos dias da antigüidade, atenta para os anos, geração por geração; pergunta a teu pai, e ele te informará, aos teus anciãos, e eles to dirão.
8 ⌞When the Most High apportioned⌟ the nations, at his dividing up of the sons of humankind, he fixed the boundaries of the peoples, according to the number of the children of Israel.
8 Quando o Altíssimo dava às nações a sua herança, quando separava os filhos dos homens, estabeleceu os termos dos povos conforme o número dos filhos de Israel.
9 For Yahweh’s portion was his people, Jacob the share of his inheritance.
9 Porque a porção do Senhor é o seu povo; Jacó é a parte da sua herança.
10 He found him in a desert land, and in a howling, desert wasteland; he ⌞encircled him⌟, he cared for him, he protected him like the ⌞apple⌟ of his eye.
10 Achou-o numa terra deserta, e num erma de solidão e horrendos uivos; cercou-o de proteção; cuidou dele, guardando-o como a menina do seu olho.
11 As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreads out its wings, takes them, carries them on its pinions,
11 Como a águia desperta o seu ninho, adeja sobre os seus filhos e, estendendo as suas asas, toma-os, e os leva sobre as suas asas,
12 so Yahweh alone guided him, and ⌞there was no foreign god accompanying him⌟.
12 assim só o Senhor o guiou, e não havia com ele deus estranho.
13 And he set him on the high places of the land, and he fed him the crops of the field, and he nursed him with honey from crags, and with oil from flinty rock,
13 Ele o fez cavalgar sobre as alturas da terra, e comer os frutos do campo; também o fez chupar mel da rocha e azeite da dura pederneira,
14 With curds from the herd, and with milk from the flock, with the fat of young rams, and rams, the offspring of Bashan, and with goats along with the finest kernels of wheat, and from the blood of grapes you drank fermented wine.
14 coalhada das vacas e leite das ovelhas, com a gordura dos cordeiros, dos carneiros de Basã, e dos bodes, com o mais fino trigo; e por vinho bebeste o sangue das uvas.
15 And Jeshurun grew fat, and he kicked; you grew fat, you bloated, and you became obstinate; and he abandoned God, his maker, and he scoffed at the rock of his salvation.
15 E Jesurum, engordando, recalcitrou {tu engordaste, tu te engrossaste e te cevaste}; então abandonou a Deus, que o fez, e desprezou a Rocha da sua salvação.
16 They made him jealous with strange gods; with detestable things they provoked him.
16 Com deuses estranhos o moveram a zelos; com abominações o provocaram à ira:
17 They sacrificed to the demons, not God, to gods whom they had not known, new gods who came from recent times; ⌞their ancestors had not known them⌟.
17 Ofereceram sacrifícios aos demônios, não a Deus, a deuses que não haviam conhecido, deuses novos que apareceram há pouco, aos quais os vossos pais não temeram.
18 The rock who bore you, you neglected, and you forgot God, the one giving you birth.
18 Olvidaste a Rocha que te gerou, e te esqueceste do Deus que te formou.
19 Then Yahweh saw, and he spurned them, because of the provocation of his sons and his daughters.
19 Vendo isto, o Senhor os desprezou, por causa da provocação que lhe fizeram seus filhos e suas filhas;
20 So he said, ‘I will hide my face from them; I will see what will be their end, for they are a generation of perversity, ⌞children in whom there is no faithfulness⌟.
20 e disse: Esconderei deles o meu rosto, verei qual será o seu fim, porque geração perversa são eles, filhos em quem não há fidelidade.
21 They annoyed me with what is not a god; they provoked me with their idols. So I will make them jealous with those not a people, with a foolish nation I will provoke them.
21 A zelos me provocaram cem aquilo que não é Deus, com as suas vaidades me provocaram à ira; portanto eu os provocarei a zelos com aquele que não é povo, com uma nação insensata os despertarei à ira.
22 For a fire was kindled by my anger, and it burned ⌞up to the depths of Sheol⌟, and it devoured the earth and its produce, and it set afire the foundation of the mountains.
22 Porque um fogo se acendeu na minha ira, e arde até o mais profundo do Seol, e devora a terra com o seu fruto, e abrasa os fundamentos dos montes.
23 I will heap disasters upon them; my arrows I will spend on them.
23 Males amontoarei sobre eles, esgotarei contra eles as minhas setas.
24 They will become weakened by famine, and consumed by plague and bitter pestilence; and the teeth of wild animals I will send against them, with the poison of the creeping things in the dust;
24 Consumidos serão de fome, devorados de raios e de amarga destruição; e contra eles enviarei dentes de feras, juntamente com o veneno dos que se arrastam no pó.
25 From outside her boundaries the sword will make her childless, and from inside, terror; both for the young man and also the young woman, the infant along with the gray-headed man.
25 Por fora devastará a espada, e por dentro o pavor, tanto ao mancebo como à virgem, assim à criança de peito como ao homem encanecido.
26 I thought, “I will wipe them out; ⌞I will make people forget they ever existed⌟.”
26 Eu teria dito: Por todos os cantos os espalharei, farei cessar a sua memória dentre os homens,
27 If I had not feared a provocation of the enemy, lest their foes might misunderstand, lest they should say, “Our hand is ⌞triumphant⌟, and Yahweh did not do all this.” ’
27 se eu não receasse a vexação da parte do inimigo, para que os seus adversários, iludindo-se, não dissessem: A nossa mão está exaltada; não foi o Senhor quem fez tudo isso.
28 For ⌞they are a nation void of sense⌟, and there is not any understanding in them.
28 Porque são gente falta de conselhos, e neles não há entendimento.
29 If only they were wise, they would understand this; they would discern ⌞for themselves their end⌟.
29 Se eles fossem sábios, entenderiam isso, e atentariam para o seu fim!
30 How could one chase a thousand and two could cause a myriad to flee, if their Rock had not sold them, and Yahweh had not given them up?
30 Como poderia um só perseguir mil, e dois fazer rugir dez mil, se a sua Rocha não os vendera, e o Senhor não os entregara?
31 For the fact of the matter is, their rock is not like our Rock, and our enemies recognize this.
31 Porque a sua rocha não é como a nossa Rocha, sendo até os nossos inimigos juízes disso.
32 For their vine is from the vine of Sodom, and from the terraces of Gomorrah; their grapes are grapes of poison; ⌞their clusters are bitter⌟.
32 Porque a sua vinha é da vinha de Sodoma e dos campos de Gomorra; as suas uvas são uvas venenosas, seus cachos são amargos.
33 Their wine is the poison of snakes, and the deadly poison of horned vipers.
33 O seu vinho é veneno de serpentes, e peçonha cruel de víboras.
34 ‘Is not this stored up with me, sealed in my treasuries?’
34 Não está isto encerrado comigo? selado nos meus tesouros?
35 ⌞Vengeance belongs to me⌟ and also recompense, ⌞for at the time their foot slips⌟, because the day of their disaster is near, ⌞and fate comes quickly for them⌟.’
35 Minha é a vingança e a recompensa, ao tempo em que resvalar o seu pé; porque o dia da sua ruína está próximo, e as coisas que lhes hão de suceder se apressam a chegar.
36 For Yahweh will judge on behalf of his people, and concerning his servants; he will change his mind when he sees that their power has disappeared, and there is no one left, confined or free.
36 Porque o Senhor vindicará ao seu povo, e se arrependerá no tocante aos seus servos, quando vir que o poder deles já se foi, e que não resta nem escravo nem livre.
37 And he will say, ‘Where are their gods, their rock in whom they took refuge?
37 Então dirá: Onde estão os seus deuses, a rocha em que se refugiavam,
38 Who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their libations? Let them rise up, and let them help you; ⌞Let them be to you a refuge⌟.
38 os que comiam a gordura dos sacrifícios deles e bebiam o vinho das suas ofertas de libação? Levantem-se eles, e vos ajudem, a fim de que haja agora refúgio para vós.
39 See, now, that I, even I am he, and there is not a god besides me; I put to death and I give life; I wound and I heal; there is not one who delivers from my hand!
39 Vede agora que eu, eu o sou, e não há outro deus além de mim; eu faço morrer e eu faço viver; eu firo e eu saro; e não há quem possa livrar da minha mão.
40 For indeed I lift up my hand to heaven, And I promise ⌞as I live forever⌟,
40 Pois levanto a minha mão ao céu, e digo: Como eu vivo para sempre,
41 When I sharpen ⌞my flashing sword⌟, and my hand takes hold of it in judgment, ⌞I will take reprisals against my foes⌟, and my haters I will repay.
41 se eu afiar a minha espada reluzente, e a minha mão travar do juízo, então retribuirei vingança aos meus adversários, e recompensarei aos que me odeiam.
42 I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh with the blood of the slain, and captives from the heads of the leaders of the enemy.’
42 De sangue embriagarei as minhas setas, e a minha espada devorará carne; do sangue dos mortes e dos cativos, das cabeças cabeludas dos inimigos
43 Call for songs of joy, O nations, concerning his people, for the blood of his servants he will avenge, ⌞and he will take reprisals against his foes⌟, and he will make atonement for his land, his people.”
43 Aclamai, ó nações, com alegria, o povo dele, porque ele vingará o sangue dos seus servos; aos seus adversários retribuirá vingança, e fará expiação pela sua terra e pelo seu povo.
44 And Moses came, and he spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people; that is, he and Joshua the son of Nun.
44 Veio, pois, Moisés, e proferiu todas as palavras deste cântico na presença do povo, ele e Oséias, filho de Num.
45 ⌞And when Moses finished speaking⌟ all these words to all Israel,
45 E, acabando Moisés de falar todas essas palavras a todo o Israel,
46 then he said to them, “⌞Take to heart all the words⌟ that I am admonishing against you ⌞today⌟ concerning which you should instruct them with respect to your children ⌞so that they will observe diligently⌟ all the words of this law,
46 disse-lhes: Aplicai o vosso coração a todas as palavras que eu hoje vos testifico, as quais haveis de recomendar a vossos filhos, para que tenham cuidado de cumprir todas as palavras desta lei.
47 for it is not a trifling matter among you, but it is your life, and through this word ⌞you will live long in the land⌟ that you are about to cross the Jordan to get there to take possession of it.”
47 Porque esta palavra não vos é vã, mas é a vossa vida, e por esta mesma palavra prolongareis os dias na terra à qual ides, passando o Jordão, para a possuir.
48 And Yahweh said to Moses on exactly this day, ⌞saying⌟,
48 Naquele mesmo dia falou o Senhor a Moisés, dizendo:
49 “Go up to this mountain of the Abarim range, Mount Nebo, which is ⌞opposite Jericho⌟, and see the land of Canaan that I am giving to the ⌞Israelites⌟ as a possession.
49 Sobe a este monte de Abarim, ao monte Nebo, que está na terra de Moabe, defronte de Jericó, e vê a terra de Canaã, que eu dou aos filhos de Israel por possessão;
50 You shall die on that mountain that you are about to go up there, and you will be gathered to your people, just as your brother Aaron died on ⌞Mount Hor⌟ and he was gathered to his people,
50 e morre no monte a que vais subir, e recolhe-te ao teu povo; assim como Arão, teu irmão, morreu no monte Hor, e se recolheu ao seu povo;
51 because of the fact that you broke faith with me in the midst of Israel at the waters of Meribah Kadesh, in the desert of Zin, because ⌞you did not treat me as holy⌟ in the midst of the ⌞Israelites⌟.
51 porquanto pecastes contra mim no meio dos filhos de Israel, junto às águas de Meribá de Cades, no deserto de Zim, pois não me santificastes no meio dos filhos de Israel.
52 Yes, from afar you may view the land, but there you shall not enter there, that is, into the land that I am giving to the ⌞Israelites⌟.”
52 Pelo que verás a terra diante de ti, porém lá não entrarás, na terra que eu dou aos filhos de Israel.
