1 And he spake also a simile to them, that it is necessary for us always to pray, and not to faint,
1 Jesus contou a seguinte parábola , mostrando aos discípulos que deviam orar sempre e nunca desanimar:
2 saying, 'A certain judge was in a certain city -- God he is not fearing, and man he is not regarding --
2 — Em certa cidade havia um juiz que não
3 and a widow was in that city, and she was coming unto him, saying, Do me justice on my opponent,
3 Nessa cidade morava uma viúva que sempre o procurava para pedir justiça, dizendo: “Ajude-me e julgue o meu caso contra o meu adversário!”
4 and he would not for a time, but after these things he said in himself, Even if God I do not fear, and man do not regard,
4 — Durante muito tempo o juiz não quis julgar o caso da viúva, mas afinal pensou assim: “É verdade que eu não temo a Deus e também não respeito ninguém.
5 yet because this widow does give me trouble, I will do her justice, lest, perpetually coming, she may plague me.'
5 Porém, como esta viúva continua me aborrecendo, vou dar a sentença a favor dela. Se eu não fizer isso, ela não vai parar de vir me amolar até acabar comigo.”
6 And the Lord said, 'Hear you what the unrighteous judge said:
6 E o Senhor continuou:
7 and shall not God execute the justice to His choice ones, who are crying unto Him day and night -- bearing long in regard to them?
7 Será, então, que Deus não vai fazer justiça a favor do seu próprio povo, que grita por socorro dia e noite? Será que ele vai demorar para ajudá-lo?
8 I say to you, that He will execute the justice to them quickly; but the Son of Man having come, shall he find the faith upon the earth?'
8 Eu afirmo a vocês que ele julgará a favor do seu povo e fará isso bem depressa. Mas, quando o
9 And he spake also unto certain who have been trusting in themselves that they were righteous, and have been despising the rest, this simile:
9 Jesus também contou esta parábola para os que achavam que eram muito bons e desprezavam os outros:
10 'Two men went up to the temple to pray, the one a Pharisee, and the other a tax-gatherer;
10 — Dois homens foram ao Templo para orar. Um era
11 the Pharisee having stood by himself, thus prayed: God, I thank You that I am not as the rest of men, rapacious, unrighteous, adulterers, or even as this tax-gatherer;
11 O fariseu ficou de pé e orou sozinho, assim: “Ó Deus, eu te agradeço porque não sou avarento, nem desonesto, nem imoral como as outras pessoas. Agradeço-te também porque não sou como este cobrador de impostos.
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all things -- as many as I possess.
12 Jejuo duas vezes por semana e te dou a décima parte de tudo o que ganho.”
13 'And the tax-gatherer, having stood afar off, would not even the eyes lift up to the heaven, but was smiting on his breast, saying, God be propitious to me -- the sinner!
13 — Mas o cobrador de impostos ficou de longe e nem levantava o rosto para o céu. Batia no peito e dizia: “Ó Deus, tem pena de mim, pois sou pecador!”
14 I say to you, this one went down declared righteous, to his house, rather than that one: for every one who is exalting himself shall be humbled, and he who is humbling himself shall be exalted.'
14 E Jesus terminou, dizendo:
15 And they were bringing near also the babes, that he may touch them, and the disciples having seen did rebuke them,
15 Depois disso, algumas pessoas levaram as suas crianças a Jesus para que ele as abençoasse, mas os discípulos viram isso e repreenderam aquelas pessoas.
16 and Jesus having called them near, said, 'Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the reign of God;
16 Então Jesus chamou as crianças para perto de si e disse:
17 verily I say to you, Whoever may not receive the reign of God as a little child, may not enter into it.'
17 Eu afirmo a vocês que isto é verdade: quem não receber o Reino de Deus como uma criança nunca entrará nele.
18 And a certain ruler questioned him, saying, 'Good teacher, what having done -- shall I inherit life age-during?'
18 Certo líder judeu perguntou a Jesus: — Bom Mestre, o que devo fazer para conseguir a vida eterna?
19 And Jesus said to him, 'Why me do you call good? no oneis good, except One -- God;
19 Jesus respondeu:
20 the commands you have known: You may not commit adultery, You may do no murder, You may not steal, You may not bear false witness, Honour your father and your mother.'
20 Você conhece os mandamentos: “Não cometa adultério, não mate, não roube, não dê falso testemunho contra ninguém, respeite o seu pai e a sua mãe.”
21 And he said, 'All these I did keep from my youth;'
21 O homem respondeu: — Desde criança eu tenho obedecido a todos esses mandamentos.
22 and having heard these things, Jesus said to him, 'Yet one thing to you is lacking; all things -- as many as you have -- sell, and distribute to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven, and come, be following me;'
22 Quando Jesus ouviu isso, disse:
23 and he, having heard these things, became very sorrowful, for he was exceeding rich.
23 Quando o homem ouviu isso, ficou muito triste, pois era riquíssimo.
24 And Jesus having seen him become very sorrowful, said, 'How hardly shall those having riches enter into the reign of God!
24 Vendo a tristeza dele, Jesus disse:
25 for it is easier for a camel through the eye of a needle to enter, than for a rich man into the reign of God to enter.'
25 É mais difícil um rico entrar no Reino de Deus do que um camelo passar pelo fundo de uma agulha.
26 And those who heard, said, 'And who is able to be saved?'
26 Os que ouviram isso perguntaram: — Então, quem é que pode se salvar?
27 and he said, 'The things impossible with men are possible with God.'
27 Jesus respondeu:
28 And Peter said, 'Lo, we left all, and did follow you;'
28 Aí Pedro disse: — Veja! Nós deixamos a nossa família e seguimos o senhor.
29 and he said to them, 'Verily I say to you, that there is not one who left house, or parents, or brothers, or wife, or children, for the sake of the reign of God,
29 Jesus respondeu:
30 who may not receive back manifold more in this time, and in the coming age, life age-during.'
30 receberá ainda nesta vida muito mais e, no futuro, receberá a vida eterna.
31 And having taken the twelve aside, he said unto them, 'Lo, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things shall be completed -- that have been written through the prophets -- to the Son of Man,
31 Jesus levou os doze discípulos para um lado e disse:
32 for he shall be delivered up to the nations, and shall be mocked, and insulted, and spit upon,
32 Ele será entregue aos não judeus, e estes vão zombar dele, insultá-lo, cuspir nele
33 and having scourged they shall put him to death, and on the third day he shall rise again.'
33 e bater nele; e depois o matarão. Mas no terceiro dia ele ressuscitará.
34 And they none of these things understood, and this saying was hid from them, and they were not knowing the things said.
34 Os discípulos não entenderam nada do que Jesus disse. O que essas palavras queriam dizer estava escondido deles, e eles não sabiam do que Jesus estava falando.
35 And it came to pass, in his coming near to Jericho, a certain blind man was sitting beside the way begging,
35 Jesus já estava chegando perto da cidade de Jericó. Acontece que um cego estava sentado na beira do caminho, pedindo esmola.
36 and having heard a multitude going by, he was inquiring what this may be,
36 Quando ouviu a multidão passando, ele perguntou o que era aquilo.
37 and they brought him word that Jesus the Nazarene does pass by,
37 — É Jesus de Nazaré que está passando! — responderam.
38 and he cried out, saying, 'Jesus, Son of David, deal kindly with me;'
38 Aí o cego começou a gritar: — Jesus,
39 and those going before were rebuking him, that he might be silent, but he was much more crying out, 'Son of David, deal kindly with me.'
39 As pessoas que iam na frente o repreenderam e mandaram que ele calasse a boca. Mas ele gritava ainda mais: — Filho de Davi, tenha pena de mim!
40 And Jesus having stood, commanded him to be brought unto him, and he having come near, he questioned him,
40 Jesus parou e mandou que trouxessem o cego. Quando ele chegou perto, Jesus perguntou:
41 saying, 'What will you I shall do to you?' and he said, 'Sir, that I may receive sight.'
41 — O que é que você quer que eu faça? — Senhor, eu quero ver de novo! — respondeu ele.
42 And Jesus said to him, 'Receive your sight; your faith has saved you;'
42 Então Jesus disse:
43 and presently he did receive sight, and was following him, glorifying God; and all the people, having seen, did give praise to God.
43 No mesmo instante o homem começou a ver e, dando glória a Deus, foi seguindo Jesus. E todos os que viram isso começaram a louvar a Deus.
