1 'Verily, verily, I say to you, He who is not entering through the door to the fold of the sheep, but is going up from another side, that one is a thief and a robber;
1 Jesus disse:
2 and he who is entering through the door is shepherd of the sheep;
2 Mas quem entra pela porta é o pastor do rebanho.
3 to this one the doorkeeper does open, and the sheep hear his voice, and his own sheep he does call by name, and does lead them forth;
3 O porteiro abre a porta para ele. As ovelhas reconhecem a sua voz quando ele as chama pelo nome, e ele as leva para fora do curral.
4 and when his own sheep he may put forth, before them he goes on, and the sheep follow him, because they have known his voice;
4 Quando todas estão do lado de fora, ele vai na frente delas, e elas o seguem porque conhecem a voz dele.
5 and a stranger they will not follow, but will flee from him, because they have not known the voice of strangers.'
5 Mas de jeito nenhum seguirão um estranho! Pelo contrário, elas fugirão, pois não conhecem a voz de estranhos.
6 This similitude spake Jesus to them, and they knew not what the things were that he was speaking to them;
6 Jesus fez esta comparação, mas ninguém entendeu o que ele queria dizer.
7 Jesus said therefore again to them, 'Verily, verily, I say to you -- I am the door of the sheep;
7 Então Jesus continuou:
8 all, as many as came before me, are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them;
8 Todos os que vieram antes de mim são ladrões e bandidos, mas as ovelhas não deram atenção à voz deles.
9 I am the door, through me if any one may come in, he shall be saved, and he shall come in, and go out, and find pasture.
9 Eu sou a porta. Quem entrar por mim será salvo; poderá entrar e sair e achará comida.
10 'The thief does not come, except that he may steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they may have life, and may haveit abundantly.
10 O ladrão só vem para roubar, matar e destruir; mas eu vim para que as ovelhas tenham vida, a vida completa.
11 'I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd his life lays down for the sheep;
11 — Eu sou o bom pastor; o bom pastor dá a vida pelas ovelhas.
12 and the hireling, and not being a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, does behold the wolf coming, and does leave the sheep, and does flee; and the wolf catches them, and scatters the sheep;
12 Um empregado trabalha somente por dinheiro; ele não é pastor, e as ovelhas não são dele. Por isso, quando vê um lobo chegando, ele abandona as ovelhas e foge. Então o lobo ataca e espalha as ovelhas.
13 and the hireling does flee because he is an hireling, and is not caring for the sheep.
13 O empregado foge porque trabalha somente por dinheiro e não se importa com as ovelhas. Eu sou o bom pastor. Assim como o Pai me conhece, e eu conheço o Pai, assim também conheço as minhas ovelhas, e elas me conhecem. E estou pronto para morrer por elas.
14 'I am the good shepherd, and I know mysheep, and am known by mine,

15 according as the Father does know me, and I know the Father, and my life I lay down for the sheep,
15 — ausente —
16 and other sheep I have that are not of this fold, these also it behooves me to bring, and my voice they will hear, and there shall become one flock -- one shepherd.
16 Tenho outras ovelhas que não estão neste curral. Eu preciso trazer essas também, e elas ouvirão a minha voz. Então elas se tornarão um só rebanho com um só pastor.
17 'Because of this does the Father love me, because I lay down my life, that again I may take it;
17 — O Pai me ama porque eu dou a minha vida para recebê-la outra vez.
18 no one does take it from me, but I lay it down of myself; authority I have to lay it down, and authority I have again to take it; this command I received from my Father.'
18 Ninguém tira a minha vida de mim, mas eu a dou por minha própria vontade. Tenho o direito de dá-la e de tornar a recebê-la, pois foi isso o que o meu Pai me mandou fazer.
19 Therefore, again, there came a division among the Jews, because of these words,
19 Quando ouviu isso, o povo se dividiu outra vez. Muitos diziam:
20 and many of them said, 'He has a demon, and is mad, why do you hear him?'
20 — Ele está dominado por um demônio! Está louco! Por que é que vocês escutam o que ele diz?
21 others said, 'These sayings are not those of a demoniac; is a demon able blind men's eyes to open?'
21 Outros afirmavam: — Quem está dominado por um demônio não fala assim! Será que um demônio pode dar vista aos cegos?
22 And the dedication in Jerusalem came, and it was winter,
22 Era inverno, e em Jerusalém estavam comemorando a Festa da Dedicação .
23 and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the porch of Solomon,
23 Jesus estava andando pelo pátio do Templo, perto da entrada chamada “ Alpendre de Salomão ”.
24 the Jews, therefore, came round about him, and said to him, 'Till when our soul do you hold in suspense? if you are the Christ, tell us freely.'
24 Então o povo se ajuntou em volta dele e perguntou: — Até quando você vai nos deixar na dúvida? Diga com franqueza: você é ou não é o
25 Jesus answered them, 'I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in the name of my Father, these testify concerning me;
25 Jesus respondeu:
26 but you do not believe, for you are not of my sheep,
26 mas vocês não creem porque não são minhas ovelhas.
27 according as I said to you: My sheep my voice do hear, and I know them, and they follow me,
27 As minhas ovelhas escutam a minha voz; eu as conheço, e elas me seguem.
28 and life age-during I give to them, and they shall not perish -- to the age, and no one shall pluck them out of my hand;
28 Eu lhes dou a vida eterna, e por isso elas nunca morrerão. Ninguém poderá arrancá-las da minha mão.
29 my Father, who has given to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to pluck out of the hand of my Father;
29 O poder que o Pai me deu é maior do que tudo, e ninguém pode arrancá-las da mão dele.
30 I and the Father are one.'
30 Eu e o Pai somos um.
31 Therefore, again, did the Jews take up stones that they may stone him;
31 Então eles tornaram a pegar pedras para matar Jesus.
32 Jesus answered them, 'Many good works did I show you from my Father; because of which work of them do you stone me?'
32 E ele disse:
33 The Jews answered him, saying, 'For a good work we do not stone you, but for evil speaking, and because you, being a man, do make yourself God.'

34 Jesus answered them, 'Is it not having been written in your law: I said, you are gods?

36 of him whom the Father did sanctify, and send to the world, do you say -- You speak evil, because I said, Son of God I am?
36 Quanto a mim, o Pai me escolheu e me enviou ao mundo. Então por que vocês dizem que blasfemo contra Deus quando afirmo que sou Filho dele?
37 if I do not the works of my Father, do not believe me;
37 Se não faço o que o meu Pai manda, não creiam em mim.
38 and if I do, even if me you may not believe, the works believe, that you may know and may believe that in meis the Father, and I in Him.'
38 Mas, se eu faço, e vocês não creem em mim, então creiam pelo menos nas coisas que faço. E isso para que vocês fiquem sabendo de uma vez por todas que o Pai vive em mim e que eu vivo no Pai.
39 Therefore were they seeking again to seize him, and he went forth out of their hand,
39 A essa altura tentaram novamente prendê-lo, mas Jesus escapou das mãos deles.
40 and went away again to the other side of the Jordan, to the place where John was at first baptizing, and remained there,
40 Ele voltou de novo para o lado leste do rio Jordão, foi para o lugar onde João Batista tinha batizado antes e ficou lá.
41 and many came unto him, and said -- 'John, indeed, did no sign, and all things, as many as John said about this one were true;'
41 E muita gente ia vê-lo, dizendo: — João não fez nenhum milagre, mas tudo o que ele disse sobre Jesus é verdade.
42 and many did believe in him there.
42 E naquele lugar muita gente creu em Jesus.
