1 Praise ye Yah, Give ye thanks to YahwehFor he is good, For age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
1 Louvado seja o S enhor ! Deem graças ao S seu amor dura para sempre!
2 Who can relate the mighty deeds of Yahweh? can cause to be heard, all his praise?
2 Quem poderá contar os feitos poderosos do S enhor ? Quem poderá louvá-lo como ele merece?
3 How happy! They who observe justice, He that executeth righteousness at all times.
3 Como são felizes os que fazem o que é certo e praticam a justiça todo o tempo!
4 Remember me, O Yahweh, when thou acceptest thy people, Visit me, with thy salvation;
4 Lembra-te de mim, S enhor , quando mostrares favor ao teu povo; aproxima-te e resgata-me.
5 That I may look upon the welfare of thy chosen ones, That I may rejoice in the joy of thy nation, That I may glory, with thine inheritance.
5 Que eu compartilhe da prosperidade dos teus escolhidos; que eu me alegre na alegria do teu povo e exulte com aqueles que pertencem a ti.
6 We have sinnedwith our fathers, We have acted perversely, we have committed lawlessness;
6 Pecamos, como nossos antepassados; fomos desobedientes e rebeldes.
7 Our fathers, in Egypt, understood not thy wonders, They remembered not the abounding of thy lovingkindnesses, but rebelled by the seaat the Red Sea.
7 No Egito, nossos antepassados não deram valor às maravilhas do S Não se lembraram de seus muitos atos de bondade; rebelaram-se contra ele junto ao mar Vermelho.
8 Yet he saved them, for the sake of his Name, to make known his mighty power;
8 Assim mesmo ele os resgatou, para proteger a honra de seu nome, para mostrar seu grande poder.
9 So he rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up, And he led them through deeps, as pasture-land;
9 Ordenou que o mar Vermelho secasse e os conduziu pelas águas como por um deserto.
10 And saved them from the hand of one full of hatred, And redeemed them out of the hand of the foe;
10 Ele os resgatou das mãos de seus inimigos e os libertou das garras de seus adversários.
11 So the waters covered their adversaries, Not one from among them, was left.
11 As águas se fecharam e cobriram seus opressores; nenhum deles sobreviveu.
12 They believed therefore in his words, They sang his praise.
12 Então creram em suas promessas e cantaram louvores a ele.
13 Soon forgat they his works,They waited not for his counsel;
13 Depressa, porém, esqueceram-se do que ele havia feito; não quiseram esperar por seus conselhos.
14 But lusted a lust in the desert, and tested GOD in the waste.
14 No deserto, os desejos do povo se tornaram insaciáveis; puseram Deus à prova naquela terra desolada.
15 So he gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul.
15 Ele atendeu a seus pedidos, mas também lhes enviou uma praga.
16 And they became jealous of Moses in the camp,of Aaron the holy one of Yahweh;
16 No acampamento, tiveram inveja de Moisés e de Arão, o sacerdote consagrado ao S
17 The earth opened and engulfed Dathan, and covered up the assembly of Abiram;
17 Por isso, a terra se abriu; engoliu Datã e sepultou Abirão e os outros rebeldes.
18 Then was kindled a fire in their assembly,a flame, consumed the lawless ones.
18 Fogo desceu sobre aqueles que os seguiam; uma chama consumiu os perversos.
19 They made a calf in Horeb,and bowed down to a molten image;
19 No monte Sinai, fizeram um bezerro; prostraram-se diante de uma imagem de metal.
20 Thus changed they my glory, for the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.
20 Trocaram seu Deus glorioso pela estátua de um boi que come capim.
21 They forgat GOD their saviour, who had done great things in Egypt:
21 Esqueceram-se de Deus, seu salvador, que havia feito coisas grandiosas no Egito,
22 Wonders in the land of Ham, Terrible things by the Red Sea.
22 atos maravilhosos na terra de Cam, feitos notáveis no mar Vermelho.
23 Then would he have bidden to destroy them,had not Moses his chosen, stood in the breach before him, To turn back his wrath from destroying.
23 Por isso, declarou que os destruiria, mas Moisés, seu escolhido, pôs-se entre ele e o povo e suplicou-lhe que afastasse sua ira e não os destruísse.
24 And they refused the delightful land, They believed not his word;
24 Eles, porém, se recusaram a entrar na terra agradável, pois não creram na promessa.
25 But murmured in their tents,They hearkened note unto the voice of Yahweh.
25 Em vez disso, resmungaram em suas tendas e não deram ouvidos ao S
26 So he lifted up his hand unto them, that he would let them fall in the desert;
26 Assim, ele jurou solenemente que os mataria no deserto,
27 And would disperse their seed among the nations, and would scatter them throughout the lands.
27 que dispersaria seus descendentes entre as nações e os enviaria para o exílio em terras distantes.
28 Yet they let themselves be bound to Baal-peor,and did eat sacrifices to the dead:
28 Depois, juntaram-se aos adoradores de Baal em Peor; chegaram a comer sacrifícios oferecidos a mortos.
29 So they provoked to anger by their doings, and a plague, made a breach among them.
29 Com todos esses atos, provocaram a ira do S enhor , por isso uma praga se espalhou entre eles.
30 Then stood up Phinehas, and interposed, and stayed was the plague:
30 Fineias, porém, teve coragem de intervir, e a praga foi detida.
31 So it was counted unto him, for righteousness, To generation after generation, unto times age abiding.
31 Assim, desde então, ele foi considerado justo.
32 And they provoked by the waters of Meribah,And it fared ill with Moses, for their sakes;
32 Também em Meribá, provocaram a ira do S enhor , e causaram sérios problemas a Moisés.
33 For they embittered his spirit, and he spake rashly with his lips.
33 Fizeram Moisés se irar, e ele falou sem refletir.
34 They destroyed not the peoples of which Yahweh had spoken to them;
34 Não destruíram as nações que habitavam na terra, como o S
35 But had fellowship with the nations, and learned their doings;
35 Em vez disso, misturaram-se com elas e adotaram seus costumes.
36 Yea they served their idols, and they became to them a snare:
36 Adoraram ídolos estrangeiros, o que causou sua ruína.
37 Yea they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to mischievous demons;
37 Chegaram a sacrificar aos demônios seus filhos e filhas.
38 And poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, And the land was polluted with blood-shed;
38 Derramaram sangue inocente, o sangue de seus filhos e filhas. Ao oferecer sacrifícios aos ídolos de Canaã, contaminaram a terra com sangue.
39 And they became unclean by their works, and became unchaste in their doings.
39 A si mesmos contaminaram com seus atos perversos; seu amor aos ídolos foi adultério.
40 Then was kindled the anger of Yahweh with his people, and he abhorred his own inheritance.
40 Por isso, a ira do S enhor se acendeu, e ele sentiu aversão por seu povo, sua propriedade.
41 So he delivered them up into the hand of the nations, And they who hated them, had dominion over them;
41 Entregou-os às nações, e foram dominados por aqueles que os odiavam.
42 And their enemies oppressed them, And they were bowed down under their hand.
42 Seus inimigos os oprimiram e os sujeitaram ao seu poder cruel.
43 Many times, did he rescue them,But, they, rebelled by their counsel, and sank low in their iniquity.
43 Muitas vezes os livrou, mas escolheram se rebelar contra ele; por fim, seu pecado os destruiu.
44 Then looked he on the distress which befell them,when he heard their loud cry;
44 Ainda assim, ele viu a aflição do povo e ouviu seus clamores.
45 Then remembered he, for them, his covenant, and was moved to pity, according to the abounding of his lovingkindnesses;
45 Lembrou-se de sua aliança com eles e teve compaixão por causa do seu grande amor.
46 And granted them compassion before all their captors.
46 Fez que seus captores os tratassem com misericórdia.
47 Save us, O Yahweh our God, and gather us from among the nations, That we may give thanks unto thy holy Name, That we may triumph aloud in thy praise.
47 Salva-nos, S enhor , nosso Deus! Reúne-nos dentre as nações, para darmos graças ao teu santo nome, para nos alegrarmos no teu louvor!
48 Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, from one age even unto another, And all the people, shall say, Amen! Praise ye Yah!
48 Louvem o S enhor , o Deus de Israel, que vive de eternidade a eternidade. Todos digam “Amém”! Louvado seja o S
