1 Give ye thanks to Yahweh, Call upon his Name, Make known, among the peoples, his doings;
1 Rendei graças ao Senhor , invocai o seu nome, fazei conhecidos, entre os povos, os seus feitos.
2 Sing ye to him, Make ye music to him, Speak ye of all his wonders.
2 Cantai-lhe, cantai-lhe salmos; narrai todas as suas maravilhas.
3 Make your boast in his holy Name, Joyful be the heart of them who are seeking Yahweh.
3 Gloriai-vos no seu santo nome; alegre-se o coração dos que buscam o
4 Search out Yahweh and his strength, Seek diligently his face at all times.
4 Buscai o Senhor e o seu poder; buscai perpetuamente a sua presença.
5 Remember his wonders which he hath done, His portents, and the just decisions of his mouth.
5 Lembrai-vos das maravilhas que fez, dos seus prodígios e dos juízos de seus lábios,
6 O ye Seed of Abrahamhis servants, Sons of Jacobhis chosen ones:
6 vós, descendentes de Abraão, seu servo, vós, filhos de Jacó, seus escolhidos.
7 Yahweh himself, is our God, Through all the land, are his just decision.
7 Ele é o Senhor , nosso Deus; os seus juízos permeiam toda a terra.
8 He hath remembered, unto times age-abiding, his covenant, The word he commanded, to a thousand generations;
8 Lembra-se perpetuamente da sua aliança, da palavra que empenhou para mil gerações;
9 Which he solemnised with Abraham, and his oath, to Isaac;
9 da aliança que fez com Abraão e do juramento que fez a Isaque;
10 And confirmed if unto Jacob for a statute, To Israel, as a covenant age-abiding;
10 o qual confirmou a Jacó por decreto e a Israel por aliança perpétua,
11 Saying, To thee, will I give the land of Canaan, As your inherited portion;
11 dizendo: Dar-te-ei a terra de Canaã como quinhão da vossa herança.
12 While as yet they were men easily counted,A very few, and sojourners therein;
12 Então, eram eles em pequeno número, pouquíssimos e forasteiros nela;
13 And they wandered from nation to nation, From a kingdom, to another people.
13 andavam de nação em nação, de um reino para outro reino.
14 He suffered no son of earth to oppress them, And reprovedfor their sakes kings!
14 A ninguém permitiu que os oprimisse; antes, por amor deles, repreendeu a reis,
15 Ye may not touch mine Anointed ones, And, to my Prophets, may ye do no wrong.
15 dizendo: Não toqueis nos meus ungidos, nem maltrateis os meus profetas.
16 Then called he a famine over the and, All the staff of bread, he brake;
16 Fez vir fome sobre a terra e cortou os meios de se obter pão.
17 He sent before them a man, For a slave, was he sold Joseph;
17 Adiante deles enviou um homem, José, vendido como escravo;
18 They forced, into a fetter, his foot, Into the iron, entered his soul;
18 cujos pés apertaram com grilhões e a quem puseram em ferros,
19 Until the time when his word came to pass, Speech of Yahweh, proved him;
19 até cumprir-se a profecia a respeito dele, e tê-lo provado a palavra do
20 The king sent, and set him free, One having dominion over peoples, yet loosed he his bonds;
20 O rei mandou soltá-lo; o potentado dos povos o pôs em liberdade.
21 He appointed him lord to his household, And one having dominion over all he possessed;
21 Constituiu-o senhor de sua casa e mordomo de tudo o que possuía,
22 That he might bind his rulers as he pleased, And, his elders, he might embue with wisdom.
22 para, a seu talante, sujeitar os seus príncipes e aos seus anciãos ensinar a sabedoria.
23 So Israel came into Egypt, And, Jacob, sojourned in the land of Ham;
23 Então, Israel entrou no Egito, e Jacó peregrinou na terra de Cam.
24 And he made his people exceeding fruitful,And caused them to become stronger than their adversaries.
24 Deus fez sobremodo fecundo o seu povo e o tornou mais forte do que os seus opressores.
25 He let them turn their heartTo hate his people, To deal treacherously with his servants;
25 Mudou-lhes o coração para que odiassem o seu povo e usassem de astúcia para com os seus servos.
26 He sent Moses his servant, Aaron, whom he had chosen.
26 E lhes enviou Moisés, seu servo, e Arão, a quem escolhera,
27 He set among them his threatening signs, And his wonders, in the land of Ham;
27 por meio dos quais fez, entre eles, os seus sinais e maravilhas na terra de Cam.
28 He sent darkness, and made it dark, But they rebelled against his words;
28 Enviou trevas, e tudo escureceu; e Moisés e Arão não foram rebeldes à sua palavra.
29 He turned their waters into blood, And so caused their fish to die;
29 Transformou-lhes as águas em sangue e assim lhes fez morrer os peixes.
30 Their land swarmed with frogs, In the chambers of their kings!
30 Sua terra produziu rãs em abundância, até nos aposentos dos reis.
31 He spake, and there came in the gad-fly, Gnats, in all their bounds;
31 Ele falou, e vieram nuvens de moscas e piolhos em todo o seu país.
32 He made their showershail, A fire flaming throughout their land;
32 Por chuva deu-lhes saraiva e fogo chamejante, na sua terra.
33 And he smote their vines, and their fig-trees, And brake in pieces the trees of their bounds;
33 Devastou-lhes os vinhedos e os figueirais e lhes quebrou as árvores dos seus limites.
34 He spakethen came the swarming locust,The devouring locust, and that without number;
34 Ele falou, e vieram gafanhotos e saltões sem conta,
35 And devoured all the herbage in their land, And devoured the fruit of their ground.
35 os quais devoraram toda a erva do país e comeram o fruto dos seus campos.
36 Then smote he every firstborn in their land, The beginning of all their strength;
36 Também feriu de morte a todos os primogênitos da sua terra, as primícias do seu vigor.
37 Thus brought he them forth, with silver and gold, Nor was there, throughout his tribes, one that faltered;
37 Então, fez sair o seu povo, com prata e ouro, e entre as suas tribos não havia um só inválido.
38 Egypt rejoiced when they went out, For the dread of them had fallen upon them.
38 Alegrou-se o Egito quando eles saíram, porquanto lhe tinham infundido terror.
39 He spread out a cloud as a covering, And fire, to give light by night,
39 Ele estendeu uma nuvem que lhes servisse de toldo e um fogo para os alumiar de noite.
40 They asked, and he brought in the quail,And, with the bread of the heavens, he satisfied them;
40 Pediram, e ele fez vir codornizes e os saciou com pão do céu.
41 He opened the rock, and there gushed forth waters, They flowed along, through parched places, as a river;
41 Fendeu a rocha, e dela brotaram águas, que correram, qual torrente, pelo deserto.
42 For he remembered his holy word, With Abraham his servant.
42 Porque estava lembrado da sua santa palavra e de Abraão, seu servo.
43 Thus brought he forth his people with gladness,With shouts of triumph, his chosen ones;
43 E conduziu com alegria o seu povo e, com jubiloso canto, os seus escolhidos.
44 And gave them, the lands of the nations, And, of the toil of the peoples, took they possession:
44 Deu-lhes as terras das nações, e eles se apossaram do trabalho dos povos,
45 In order that they might observe his statutes, And, over his laws, might keep watch, Praise ye Yah.
45 para que lhe guardassem os preceitos e lhe observassem as leis. Aleluia!
