Amós 6

1 Alas for the careless in Zion, and for them who put confidence in the mountain of Samaria,the distinguished among the first group of nations, to whom came in the house of Israel.
1 Ai dos que têm uma vida boa em Jerusalém! Ai de vocês que vivem sossegados em Samaria, vocês que são as autoridades desse grande país de Israel, vocês a quem o povo vai pedir ajuda!
2 Pass ye over to Calneh, and see, and go on from thence to Hamath the great,and go down to Gath of the Philistines, are they better than these kingdoms? or their boundary larger than your boundary?
2 Vocês dizem ao povo: “Vão olhar a cidade de Calné, e depois vão até a grande cidade de Hamate, e dali cheguem até a cidade de Gate, na terra dos filisteus. Por acaso, aqueles povos são mais ricos do que nós ou os seus países maiores do que o nosso?”
3 Ye who are putting far away the day of calamity,but bringing near the abode of violence:
3 Vocês não querem acreditar que o dia do castigo esteja perto, mas o que vocês estão fazendo vai apressar a chegada de um tempo de violência.
4 Who are lying on beds of ivory, and sprawling on their couch of pleasure,and eating the well-fed of the flock, and the fatted calves out of the midst of the stalls:
4 Ai de vocês que gostam de banquetes, em que se deitam em sofás luxuosos e comem carne de ovelhas e de bezerros gordos!
5 Who are bawling at the bidding of the harp,like David, have they invented for themselves instruments of song:
5 Vocês fazem músicas como fez o rei Davi e gostam de cantá-las com acompanhamento de harpas .
6 Who are quaffing bowls of wine, and, with the best of oils, anointing themselves,and are not afflicted for the injury of Joseph:
6 Bebem vinho em taças enormes, usam os perfumes mais caros, mas não se importam com a desgraça do país.
7 Therefore, at once, shall they go into exile among the first of the exiles,so shall be disturbed the revelry of sprawlers.
7 Portanto, vocês serão os primeiros a serem levados como prisioneiros para fora do país, e não haverá mais banquetes alegres.
8 Sworn hath the Lord, Yahweh, by his own life, Declareth Yahweh, God of hosts, abhorring am I, the grandeur of Jacob, and, his palaces, I hate,therefore will I cast off the city and the fulness thereof.
8 O Senhor , o Todo-Poderoso, jurou assim: — Eu vou entregar a cidade de Samaria nas mãos do inimigo, que levará embora tudo o que encontrar. Pois eu odeio o orgulho do povo de Israel, detesto os seus palácios.
9 And it shall come to pass, though there be left remaining ten men in one house, yet shall they die;
9 E vai acontecer que, se houver dez pessoas numa casa, todas morrerão.
10 And a mans near of kin, even he who is about to burn the bones, shall carry him out of the house, when he shall say to him that is in the hinder parts of the houseAre there yet any with thee? and he shall sayNo one. Then shall he sayHush! for we must not invoke the name of Yahweh.
10 E, quando alguém chegar para tirar da casa o corpo do seu parente e queimá-lo, perguntará a quem ainda estiver vivo lá dentro: “Tem mais gente aí?” O outro responderá: “Não tem, não.” Então o primeiro dirá: “Cale a boca! Não devemos nem dizer o nome do Senhor !”
11 For lo! Yahweh, is giving command, and will smite the great house into ruins,and the little house with clefts.
11 Pois o Senhor vai dar uma ordem, e todas as casas, as grandes e as pequenas, serão destruídas.
12 Shall horses run upon crag? or will a man plough with oxen? For ye have turned to poison the sentence of justice, and the fruit of righteousness, to wormwood:
12 Por acaso, podem os cavalos galopar sobre as rochas? Ou será que os bois podem puxar o arado no mar? Claro que não! Mas vocês fazem a honestidade virar veneno e a justiça virar injustiça.
13 Who rejoice in a thing of nought,who say, Have we not by our own strength, taken to ourselves horns?
13 Vocês se orgulham de terem derrotado a cidade de Lo-Debar e se gabam, dizendo: “Pela nossa própria força conquistamos Carnaim .”
14 For behold me! raising up against you, O house of Israel, Declareth Yahweh, the God of hostsa nation! And they shall crush you, from the entering in of Hamath, unto the torrent-bed of the waste plain.
14 O Senhor , o Deus Todo-Poderoso, diz: — Povo de Israel, vou mandar uma nação invadir o seu país, e todos vocês serão perseguidos desde a subida de Hamate, no Norte, até o riacho Arabá, no Sul.
