1 Alas for the careless in Zion, and for them who put confidence in the mountain of Samaria,the distinguished among the first group of nations, to whom came in the house of Israel.
1 Ai dos que andam à vontade em Sião e dos que vivem sem receio no monte de Samaria, homens notáveis da principal das nações, aos quais vem a casa de Israel!
2 Pass ye over to Calneh, and see, and go on from thence to Hamath the great,and go down to Gath of the Philistines, are they better than these kingdoms? or their boundary larger than your boundary?
2 Passai a Calné e vede; e, dali, ide à grande Hamate; depois, descei a Gate dos filisteus; sois melhores que estes reinos? Ou será maior o seu território do que o vosso território?
3 Ye who are putting far away the day of calamity,but bringing near the abode of violence:
3 Vós que imaginais estar longe o dia mau e fazeis chegar o trono da violência;
4 Who are lying on beds of ivory, and sprawling on their couch of pleasure,and eating the well-fed of the flock, and the fatted calves out of the midst of the stalls:
4 que dormis em camas de marfim, e vos espreguiçais sobre o vosso leito, e comeis os cordeiros do rebanho e os bezerros do cevadouro;
5 Who are bawling at the bidding of the harp,like David, have they invented for themselves instruments of song:
5 que cantais à toa ao som da lira e inventais, como Davi, instrumentos músicos para vós mesmos;
6 Who are quaffing bowls of wine, and, with the best of oils, anointing themselves,and are not afflicted for the injury of Joseph:
6 que bebeis vinho em taças e vos ungis com o mais excelente óleo, mas não vos afligis com a ruína de José.
7 Therefore, at once, shall they go into exile among the first of the exiles,so shall be disturbed the revelry of sprawlers.
7 Portanto, agora, ireis em cativeiro entre os primeiros que forem levados cativos, e cessarão as pândegas dos espreguiçadores.
8 Sworn hath the Lord, Yahweh, by his own life, Declareth Yahweh, God of hosts, abhorring am I, the grandeur of Jacob, and, his palaces, I hate,therefore will I cast off the city and the fulness thereof.
8 Jurou o Senhor Deus por si mesmo, o Senhor , Deus dos Exércitos, e disse: Abomino a soberba de Jacó e odeio os seus castelos; e abandonarei a cidade e tudo o que nela há.
9 And it shall come to pass, though there be left remaining ten men in one house, yet shall they die;
9 Se numa casa ficarem dez homens, também esses morrerão.
10 And a mans near of kin, even he who is about to burn the bones, shall carry him out of the house, when he shall say to him that is in the hinder parts of the houseAre there yet any with thee? and he shall sayNo one. Then shall he sayHush! for we must not invoke the name of Yahweh.
10 Se, porém, um parente chegado, o qual os há de queimar, toma os cadáveres para os levar fora da casa e diz ao que estiver no seu mais interior: Haverá outro contigo? E este responder: Não há; então, lhe dirá: Cala-te, não menciones o nome do Senhor .
11 For lo! Yahweh, is giving command, and will smite the great house into ruins,and the little house with clefts.
11 Pois eis que o Senhor ordena, e será destroçada em ruínas a casa grande, e a pequena, feita em pedaços.
12 Shall horses run upon crag? or will a man plough with oxen? For ye have turned to poison the sentence of justice, and the fruit of righteousness, to wormwood:
12 Poderão correr cavalos na rocha? E lavrá-la com bois? No entanto, haveis tornado o juízo em veneno e o fruto da justiça, em alosna.
13 Who rejoice in a thing of nought,who say, Have we not by our own strength, taken to ourselves horns?
13 Vós vos alegrais com Lo-Debar e dizeis: Não é assim que, por nossas próprias forças, nos apoderamos de Carnaim?
14 For behold me! raising up against you, O house of Israel, Declareth Yahweh, the God of hostsa nation! And they shall crush you, from the entering in of Hamath, unto the torrent-bed of the waste plain.
14 Pois eis que levantarei sobre vós, ó casa de Israel, uma nação, diz o Senhor , Deus dos Exércitos, a qual vos oprimirá, desde a entrada de Hamate até ao ribeiro da Arabá.
