1 Alas for the careless in Zion, and for them who put confidence in the mountain of Samaria,the distinguished among the first group of nations, to whom came in the house of Israel.
1 Ai dos que vivem sossegados em Sião, e dos que estão confiados no monte de Samaria, que têm nome entre as primeiras das nações, e aos quais vem a casa de Israel!
2 Pass ye over to Calneh, and see, and go on from thence to Hamath the great,and go down to Gath of the Philistines, are they better than these kingdoms? or their boundary larger than your boundary?
2 Passai a Calne, e vede; e dali ide à grande Hamate; e depois descei a Gate dos filisteus; serão melhores que estes reinos? Ou maior o seu termo do que o vosso termo?
3 Ye who are putting far away the day of calamity,but bringing near the abode of violence:
3 Ó vós que afastais o dia mau, e fazeis chegar o assento da violência.
4 Who are lying on beds of ivory, and sprawling on their couch of pleasure,and eating the well-fed of the flock, and the fatted calves out of the midst of the stalls:
4 Ai dos que dormem em camas de marfim, e se estendem sobre os seus leitos, e comem os cordeiros do rebanho, e os bezerros do meio do curral;
5 Who are bawling at the bidding of the harp,like David, have they invented for themselves instruments of song:
5 Que cantam ao som da viola, e inventam para si instrumentos musicais, assim como Davi;
6 Who are quaffing bowls of wine, and, with the best of oils, anointing themselves,and are not afflicted for the injury of Joseph:
6 Que bebem vinho em taças, e se ungem com o mais excelente óleo: mas não se afligem pela ruína de José;
7 Therefore, at once, shall they go into exile among the first of the exiles,so shall be disturbed the revelry of sprawlers.
7 Portanto agora irão em cativeiro entre os primeiros dos que forem levados cativos, e cessarão os festins dos banqueteadores.
8 Sworn hath the Lord, Yahweh, by his own life, Declareth Yahweh, God of hosts, abhorring am I, the grandeur of Jacob, and, his palaces, I hate,therefore will I cast off the city and the fulness thereof.
8 Jurou o Senhor DEUS por si mesmo, diz o SENHOR, o Deus dos Exércitos: Abomino a soberba de Jacó, e odeio os seus palácios; por isso entregarei a cidade e tudo o que nela há.
9 And it shall come to pass, though there be left remaining ten men in one house, yet shall they die;
9 E acontecerá que, se numa casa ficarem dez homens, morrerão.
10 And a mans near of kin, even he who is about to burn the bones, shall carry him out of the house, when he shall say to him that is in the hinder parts of the houseAre there yet any with thee? and he shall sayNo one. Then shall he sayHush! for we must not invoke the name of Yahweh.
10 Quando o tio de alguém, aquele que o queima, o tomar para levar-lhe os ossos para fora da casa, e disser ao que estiver no mais interior da casa: Está ainda alguém contigo? E este responder: Ninguém; então lhe dirá ele: Cala-te, porque não devemos fazer menção do nome do Senhor.
11 For lo! Yahweh, is giving command, and will smite the great house into ruins,and the little house with clefts.
11 Porque, eis que o Senhor ordena, e ferirá a casa grande de brechas, e a casa pequena de fendas.
12 Shall horses run upon crag? or will a man plough with oxen? For ye have turned to poison the sentence of justice, and the fruit of righteousness, to wormwood:
12 Porventura correrão cavalos sobre rocha? Lavrar-se-á nela com bois? Mas vós haveis tornado o juízo em fel, e o fruto da justiça em alosna;
13 Who rejoice in a thing of nought,who say, Have we not by our own strength, taken to ourselves horns?
13 Vós que vos alegrais do nada, vós que dizeis: Não é assim que por nossa própria força nos temos tornado poderosos?
14 For behold me! raising up against you, O house of Israel, Declareth Yahweh, the God of hostsa nation! And they shall crush you, from the entering in of Hamath, unto the torrent-bed of the waste plain.
14 Porque, eis que eu levantarei sobre vós, ó casa de Israel, uma nação, diz o Senhor, o Deus dos Exércitos, e oprimir-vos-á, desde a entrada de Hamate até ao ribeiro do deserto.
