1 Praise Jehovah! Oh give thanks to Jehovah, for he is good and His loving-kindness endures forever.
1 Louvai ao Senhor ! Louvai ao Senhor , porque ele é bom, porque a sua benignidade é para sempre.
2 Who can speak of the mighty acts deeds of Jehovah? Who can proclaim and perceive all his praise?
2 Quem pode referir as obras poderosas do Senhor ? Quem anunciará os seus louvores?
3 How blessed are those who pay attention to justice, who practice righteousness at all times!
3 Bem-aventurados os que observam o direito, o que pratica a justiça em todos os tempos.
4 Remember me, O Jehovah, with favor toward your people. Visit me with your salvation.
4 Lembra-te de mim, Senhor , segundo a tua boa vontade para com o teu povo; visita-me com a tua salvação,
5 Help me see the prosperity of your chosen ones that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that I may glory with your inheritance.
5 para que eu veja o bem de teus escolhidos, para que eu me alegre com a alegria do teu povo, para que me regozije com a tua herança.
6 We have sinned like our fathers! We have committed iniquity and have behaved wickedly.
6 Nós pecamos como os nossos pais; cometemos iniquidade, andamos perversamente.
7 Our fathers in Egypt did not understand your wonders. They did not remember your abundant kindnesses. But they rebelled by the Red Sea.
7 Nossos pais não atentaram para as tuas maravilhas no Egito; não se lembraram da multidão das tuas misericórdias; antes, foram rebeldes junto ao mar, sim, o mar Vermelho.
8 Nevertheless he saved them for the sake of his name that he might make his power known.
8 Não obstante, ele os salvou por amor do seu nome, para fazer conhecido o seu poder.
9 So he rebuked the Red Sea and it dried up, and he led them through the deeps, as through the wilderness.
9 Repreendeu o mar Vermelho, e este se secou, e os fez caminhar pelos abismos como pelo deserto.
10 He saved them from the hand of the one who hated them and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
10 E livrou-os da mão daquele que os aborrecia e remiu-os da mão do inimigo.
11 The waters covered their adversaries and not one of them was left.
11 As águas cobriram os seus adversários; nem um só deles ficou.
12 Then they believed his words. They sang His praise.
12 Então, creram nas suas palavras e cantaram os seus louvores.
13 They quickly forgot his works and they did not wait for his counsel.
13 Cedo, porém, se esqueceram das suas obras; não esperaram o seu conselho;
14 They had an unreasonable desire for food in the wilderness. In the desert they tested God.
14 mas deixaram-se levar da cobiça, no deserto, e tentaram a Deus na solidão.
15 He gave them what they asked for. He also gave them a degenerative disease.
15 E ele satisfez-lhes o desejo, mas fez definhar a sua alma.
16 In the camp certain men became envious of Moses. They also became envious of Aaron, Jehovahs holy one.
16 E tiveram inveja de Moisés, no acampamento, e de Arão, o santo do Senhor .
17 The ground split open and swallowed Dathan. It buried Abiram's followers.
17 Abriu-se a terra, e engoliu a Datã, e cobriu a gente de Abirão.
18 A fire broke out among their followers. Flames burned up wicked people.
18 E lavrou um fogo na sua gente; a chama abrasou os ímpios.
19 At Mount Horeb they made a statue of a calf. They worshiped an idol made of metal.
19 Fizeram um bezerro em Horebe e adoraram a imagem fundida.
20 They traded their glorious God for the statue of a bull that eats grass.
20 E converteram a sua glória na figura de um boi que come erva.
21 They forgot the God of their salvation, the one who did spectacular things in Egypt,
21 Esqueceram-se de Deus, seu Salvador, que fizera grandes coisas no Egito,
22 miracles in the land of Ham, and terrifying things at the Red Sea.
22 maravilhas na terra de Cam, coisas tremendas no mar Vermelho.
23 God said he was going to destroy them, but Moses, his chosen one, stood in his way to prevent him from exterminating them.
23 Pelo que disse que os teria destruído se Moisés, seu escolhido, se não pusera perante ele, naquele transe, para desviar a sua indignação, a fim de os não destruir.
24 They refused to enter the pleasant land. They did not believe what he said.
24 Também desprezaram a terra aprazível; não creram na sua palavra.
25 They complained in their tents. They did not obey Jehovah.
25 Antes, murmuraram em suas tendas e não deram ouvidos à voz do Senhor .
26 Raising his hand, he swore that he would kill them in the wilderness,
26 Pelo que levantou a mão contra eles, afirmando que os faria cair no deserto;
27 kill their descendants among the nations, and scatter them throughout various lands.
27 que humilharia também a sua descendência entre as nações e os espalharia pelas terras.
28 They joined in worshiping the god Baal while they were at Peor. They ate what was sacrificed to the dead.
28 Também se juntaram com Baal-Peor e comeram os sacrifícios dos mortos.
29 They infuriated God by what they did, and a plague broke out among them.
29 Assim, o provocaram à ira com as suas ações; e a peste rebentou entre eles.
30 Phinehas stood between God and the people, and the plague was stopped.
30 Então, se levantou Fineias, que executou o juízo, e cessou aquela peste,
31 Because of this, Phinehas was considered righteous forever, throughout every generation.
31 e isto lhe foi imputado por justiça, de geração em geração, para sempre.
32 They made God angry by the water at Meribah. Things turned out badly for Moses because of what they did.
32 Indignaram-n o também junto às águas da contenda, de sorte que sucedeu mal a Moisés, por causa deles;
33 They made him bitter so that he spoke recklessly.
33 porque irritaram o seu espírito, de modo que falou imprudentemente com seus lábios.
34 They did not destroy the people as Jehovah had told them.
34 Não destruíram os povos, como o Senhor lhes dissera.
35 Instead, they intermarried with other nations. They learned to do what other nations did.
35 Antes, se misturaram com as nações e aprenderam as suas obras.
36 They worshiped their idols, which became a trap for them.
36 E serviram os seus ídolos, que vieram a ser-lhes um laço.
37 They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons.
37 Demais disto, sacrificaram seus filhos e suas filhas aos demônios;
38 They shed innocent blood, the blood of their own sons and daughters whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan. The land became polluted with blood.
38 e derramaram sangue inocente, o sangue de seus filhos e de suas filhas, que sacrificaram aos ídolos de Canaã, e a terra foi manchada com sangue.
39 They became filthy because of what they did. They behaved like prostitutes.
39 Assim, se contaminaram com as suas obras e se corromperam com os seus feitos.
40 Jehovah burned with anger against his own people. He was disgusted with those who belonged to him.
40 Pelo que se acendeu a ira do Senhor contra o seu povo, de modo que abominou a sua herança
41 He handed them over to other nations, and those who hated them ruled them.
41 e os entregou nas mãos das nações; e aqueles que os aborreciam se assenhorearam deles.
42 Their enemies oppressed them and made them subject to their power.
42 E os seus inimigos os oprimiram, humilhando-os debaixo das suas mãos.
43 He rescued them many times, but they continued to plot rebellion against him and to sink deeper because of their sin.
43 Muitas vezes os livrou; mas eles provocaram-no com o seu conselho e foram abatidos pela sua iniquidade.
44 He saw that they were suffering when he heard their cry for help.
44 Contudo, atentou para a sua aflição, ouvindo o seu clamor.
45 He remembered his promise to them. In keeping with his rich mercy, he changed his plans.
45 E lembrou-se do seu concerto, e compadeceu-se, segundo a multidão das suas misericórdias.
46 He let them find compassion from all those who held them captive.
46 Por isso, fez com que deles tivessem misericórdia os que os levaram cativos.
47 Rescue us, O Jehovah our God, and gather us from the nations so that we may give thanks to your holy name and make your praise our glory.
47 Salva-nos, Senhor , nosso Deus, e congrega-nos dentre as nações, para que louvemos o teu nome santo e nos gloriemos no teu louvor.
48 Thanks be to Jehovah the God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say amen. Praise Jehovah!
48 Bendito seja o Senhor , Deus de Israel, de eternidade em eternidade, e todo o povo diga: Amém! Louvai ao Senhor !
