1 To the chief musician, by David, a psalm. O Lord! thou hast searched me through, and thou knowest me.
1 Ao Músico-chefe, Salmo de Davi. Ó SENHOR, tu me sondaste e me conheces.
2 Thou indeed knowest my sitting down and my rising up, thou understandest my thinking while yet afar off.
2 Tu conheces o meu assentar e o meu levantar; entendes o meu pensamento de longe.
3 My walking and my lying down hast thou limited, and with all my ways art thou acquainted.
3 Cercas a minha vereda, e o meu deitar; e conheces todos os meus caminhos.
4 For, while there is not a word on my tongue, lo, thou, O Lord, knowest it entirely.
4 Pois não há uma palavra em minha língua, mas eis que, ó SENHOR, tu sabes de tudo.
5 Behind and before hast thou hedged me in, and thou placest upon me thy hand.
5 Tu me envolveste por trás e pela frente, e puseste a tua mão sobre mim.
6 Too wonderful is such knowledge for me: it is too exalted, I cannot attain unto it.
6 Tal conhecimento é maravilhoso demais para mim; é tão alto que não posso alcançá-lo.
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee away from thy presence?
7 Para onde me irei do teu Espírito, ou para onde fugirei da tua presença?
8 If I should ascend into heaven, thou art there; and if I should make my bed in the nether world, behold, thou art there.
8 Se eu subir ao céu, tu estás lá; se eu fizer minha cama no inferno, eis que tu estás lá.
9 If I should lift up the wings of the morningdawn, if I should dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea:
9 Se eu tomar as asas da manhã, e habitar nas partes mais extremas do mar;
10 Even there would thy hand lead me, and thy right hand would seize hold of me.
10 até lá a tua mão me guiará e a tua mão direita me susterá.
11 If I said, Surely darkness shall enshroud me, and into night be turned the light about me:
11 Se eu disser: Certamente as trevas me encobrirão; até a noite será luz sobre mim.
12 Yet even darkness can obscure nothing from thee; but the night will shine like the day; both the darkness and the light are alike to thee.
12 Sim, as trevas não se escondem de ti; mas a noite brilha como o dia; as trevas e a luz são ambas o mesmo para ti.
13 For thou possessest my reins: thou hast covered me in my mothers womb.
13 Pois possuíste os meus rins; cobriste-me no útero da minha mãe.
14 I will thank thee therefore, that I am so fearfully and wonderfully made: wonderful are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
14 Eu te louvarei, pois eu assombrosamente e maravilhosamente fui feito; maravilhosas são as tuas obras, e isso a minha alma certamente conhece bem.
15 My being was not concealed from thee, when I was made in secret, when I was so to say embroidered in the lowest parts of the earth.
15 Minha matéria não foi escondida de ti, quando eu fui feito em secreto, e curiosamente forjado nas partes mais baixas da terra.
16 My undeveloped substance did thy eyes see; and in thy book were all of them written downthe days which have been formed, while yet not one of them was here.
16 Os teus olhos viram a minha matéria ainda imperfeita; e no teu livro todos os meus membros foram escritos, os quais eram continuamente formados, quando nem ainda havia nenhum deles.
17 And how precious are unto me thy thoughts, O God! how mightily great is their sum!
17 Quão preciosos também são os teus pensamentos para comigo, ó Deus! Quão grande é a soma deles!
18 Should I count them, they would be more numerous than the sand: I awake, and I am still with thee.
18 Se eu fosse contá-los, eles seriam maiores em número do que a areia; quando acordo ainda estou contigo.
19 If thou wouldst but slay the wicked, O God! and ye men of blood, depart from me.
19 Certamente, tu matarás o perverso, ó Deus; apartai-vos portanto de mim, vós homens sanguinários.
20 Who speak of thee for a wicked end, thy enemies, that bear thy name for a vain purpose.
20 Pois eles falam contra ti perversamente, e os teus inimigos tomam o teu nome em vão.
21 Behold, those that hate thee I ever hate, O Lord; and for those that rise up against thee do I feel loathing.
21 Não odeio eu, ó SENHOR, aqueles que te odeiam, e não me aflijo com aqueles que se levantam contra ti?
22 With the utmost hatred do I hate them: enemies are they become unto me.
22 Odeio-os com ódio perfeito; conto-os como meus inimigos.
23 Search me through, O God, and know my heart; probe me, and know my thoughts:
23 Sonda-me, ó Deus, e conhece o meu coração; prova-me, e conhece os meus pensamentos.
24 And see if there be a way of perverseness in me, and lead me on the way of eternity.
24 E vê se há algum caminho perverso em mim, e guia-me pelo caminho eterno.
