Leeser Old Testament (LEESER) vs NVI
1 Be thou not envious of bad men, and do not long to be with them.
1 Não tenha inveja dos ímpios, nem deseje a companhia deles;
2 For their heart meditateth destruction, and of mischief do their lips speak.
2 pois destruição é o que planejam no coração, e só falam de violência.
3 Through wisdom is a house built; and through understanding is it firmly established;
3 Com sabedoria se constrói a casa, e com discernimento se consolida.
4 And through knowledge are chambers filled with all manner of precious and pleasant wealth.
4 Pelo conhecimento os seus cômodos se enchem do que é precioso e agradável.
5 A wise man is always in power; and a man of knowledge fortifieth his strength.
5 O homem sábio é poderoso, e quem tem conhecimento aumenta a sua força;
6 For by wise counsel canst thou conduct thy war; and there is help in a multitude of counsellors.
6 quem sai à guerra precisa de orientação, e com muitos conselheiros se obtém a vitória.
7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: in the gate can he not open his mouth.
7 A sabedoria é elevada demais para o insensato; ele não sabe o que dizer nas assembléias.
8 Him that deviseth to do evil, men call a master of wicked devices.
8 Quem maquina o mal será conhecido como criador de intrigas.
9 The counsel of folly is sin; and an abomination to men is the scorner.
9 A intriga do insensato é pecado, e o zombador é detestado pelos homens.
10 If thou despond on the day of distress, thy strength is small.
10 Se você vacila no dia da dificuldade, como será limitada a sua força!
11 Deliver those that are taken unto death, and those that are moved away to the slaughter hold back.
11 Liberte os que estão sendo levados para a morte; socorra os que caminham trêmulos para a matança!
12 If thou shouldst say, Behold, we know not this man: lo, he that weigheth hearts will truly regard it, and he that keepeth thy soul will surely know it; and he will give a recompense to man according to his doing.
12 Mesmo que você diga: "Não sabíamos o que estava acontecendo! " Não o perceberia aquele que pesa os corações? Não o saberia aquele que preserva a sua vida? Não retribuirá ele a cada um segundo o seu procedimento?
13 Eat honey, my son, because it is good; and the fine honey, which is sweet to thy palate:
13 Coma mel, meu filho. É bom. O favo é doce ao paladar.
14 So obtain the knowledge of wisdom for thy soul: when thou hast found her, then shall there be a happy future, and thy hope shall not be cut off.
14 Saiba que a sabedoria também será boa para a sua alma; se você a encontrar, certamente haverá futuro para você, e a sua esperança não vai decepcioná-lo.
15 Lie not in wait, O wicked man! against the dwelling of the righteous; waste not his restingplace;
15 Não fique de tocaia, como faz o ímpio, contra a casa do justo, e não destrua o seu local de repouso;
16 For though the righteous were to fall seven times, he will rise up again; but the wicked shall stumble into misfortune.
16 pois ainda que o justo caia sete vezes, tornará a erguer-se, mas os ímpios são arrastados pela calamidade.
17 At the fall of thy enemy do not rejoice; and at his stumbling let not thy heart be glad:
17 Não se alegre quando o seu inimigo cair, nem exulte o seu coração quando ele tropeçar,
18 Lest the Lord see it and it be displeasing in his eyes, and he turn away from him his wrath.
18 para que o Senhor não veja isso, e se desagrade, e desvie dele a sua ira.
19 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious of the wicked;
19 Não se aborreça por causa dos maus, nem tenha inveja dos ímpios,
20 For there will be no happy future for the bad man: the lamp of the wicked will be quenched.
20 pois não há futuro para o mau, e a lâmpada dos ímpios se apagará.
21 My son, fear the Lord and the king: with those that are desirous to change do not mingle thyself;
21 Tema ao Senhor e ao rei, meu filho, e não se associe aos dissidentes,
22 For suddenly will their calamity arise; and who knoweth the ruin of both of them!
22 pois terão repentina destruição, e quem pode imaginar a ruína que o Senhor e o rei podem causar?
23 These things also are for the wise. To have respect of persons in judgment is not good.
23 Aqui vão outros ditados dos sábios: Agir com parcialidade nos julgamentos não é nada bom.
24 Him that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous, will the people denounce, him will nations hold accursed;
24 Quem disser ao ímpio: "Você é justo", será amaldiçoado pelos povos e sofrerá a indignação das nações.
25 But to those that punish delight shall be given, and upon them shall come the blessing of the good.
25 Mas os que condenam o culpado terão vida agradável; receberão grandes bênçãos.
26 Men will kiss the lips of him that giveth a proper answer.
26 A resposta sincera é como beijo nos lábios.
27 Prepare without thy work, and make it fit in the field for thyself: and afterward build thy house.
27 Termine primeiro o seu trabalho a céu aberto; deixe pronta a sua lavoura. Depois constitua família.
28 Be not without cause a witness against thy neighbor; for wouldst thou beguile with thy lips?
28 Não testemunhe sem motivo contra o seu próximo nem use os seus lábios para enganá-lo.
29 Say not, As he hath done to me so will I do to him: I will recompense every man according to his doing.
29 Não diga: "Farei com ele o que fez comigo; ele pagará pelo que fez".
30 By the field of a slothful man I once passed along, and by the vineyard of a man void of sense:
30 Passei pelo campo do preguiçoso, pela vinha do homem sem juízo;
31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, nettles had covered its surface, and its stonewall was broken down.
31 havia espinheiros por toda parte, o chão estava coberto de ervas daninhas e o muro de pedra estava em ruínas.
32 And when I had indeed beheld this I took it to my heart: I saw it, and received a warning.
32 Observei aquilo, e fiquei pensando, olhei e aprendi esta lição:
33 "A little more sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands in lying down;"
33 "Vou dormir um pouco", você diz. "Vou cochilar um momento; vou cruzar os braços e descansar mais um pouco",
34 But then will thy poverty come like a rover; and thy wants as a man armed with a shield.
34 mas a pobreza lhe virá como um assaltante, e a sua miséria como um homem armado.
