Leeser Old Testament (LEESER) vs ARC
1 Be thou not envious of bad men, and do not long to be with them.
1 Não tenhas inveja dos homens malignos, nem desejes estar com eles,
2 For their heart meditateth destruction, and of mischief do their lips speak.
2 porque o seu coração medita a rapina, e os seus lábios falam maliciosamente.
3 Through wisdom is a house built; and through understanding is it firmly established;
3 Com a sabedoria se edifica a casa, e com a inteligência ela se firma;
4 And through knowledge are chambers filled with all manner of precious and pleasant wealth.
4 e pelo conhecimento se encherão as câmaras de todas as substâncias preciosas e deleitáveis.
5 A wise man is always in power; and a man of knowledge fortifieth his strength.
5 Um varão sábio é forte, e o varão de conhecimento consolida a força.
6 For by wise counsel canst thou conduct thy war; and there is help in a multitude of counsellors.
6 Porque com conselhos prudentes tu farás a guerra; e há vitória na multidão dos conselheiros.
7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: in the gate can he not open his mouth.
7 É demasiadamente alta para o tolo toda a sabedoria; na porta não abrirá a boca.
8 Him that deviseth to do evil, men call a master of wicked devices.
8 Aquele que cuida em fazer mal, mestre de maus intentos o chamarão.
9 The counsel of folly is sin; and an abomination to men is the scorner.
9 O pensamento do tolo é pecado, e é abominável aos homens o escarnecedor.
10 If thou despond on the day of distress, thy strength is small.
10 Se te mostrares frouxo no dia da angústia, a tua força será pequena.
11 Deliver those that are taken unto death, and those that are moved away to the slaughter hold back.
11 Livra os que estão destinados à morte e salva os que são levados para a matança, se os puderes retirar.
12 If thou shouldst say, Behold, we know not this man: lo, he that weigheth hearts will truly regard it, and he that keepeth thy soul will surely know it; and he will give a recompense to man according to his doing.
12 Se disseres: Eis que o não sabemos; porventura, aquele que pondera os corações não o considerará? E aquele que atenta para a tua alma não o saberá? Não pagará ele ao homem conforme a sua obra?
13 Eat honey, my son, because it is good; and the fine honey, which is sweet to thy palate:
13 Come mel, meu filho, porque é bom, e o favo de mel, que é doce ao teu paladar.
14 So obtain the knowledge of wisdom for thy soul: when thou hast found her, then shall there be a happy future, and thy hope shall not be cut off.
14 Tal será o conhecimento da sabedoria para a tua alma; se a achares, haverá para ti galardão, e não será cortada a tua expectação.
15 Lie not in wait, O wicked man! against the dwelling of the righteous; waste not his restingplace;
15 Não espies a habitação do justo, ó ímpio, nem assoles a sua câmara.
16 For though the righteous were to fall seven times, he will rise up again; but the wicked shall stumble into misfortune.
16 Porque sete vezes cairá o justo e se levantará; mas os ímpios tropeçarão no mal.
17 At the fall of thy enemy do not rejoice; and at his stumbling let not thy heart be glad:
17 Quando cair o teu inimigo, não te alegres, nem quando tropeçar se regozije o teu coração;
18 Lest the Lord see it and it be displeasing in his eyes, and he turn away from him his wrath.
18 para que o Senhor isso não veja, e seja mau aos seus olhos, e desvie dele a sua ira.
19 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious of the wicked;
19 Não te aflijas por causa dos malfeitores, nem tenhas inveja dos ímpios.
20 For there will be no happy future for the bad man: the lamp of the wicked will be quenched.
20 Porque o maligno não terá galardão algum, e a lâmpada dos ímpios se apagará.
21 My son, fear the Lord and the king: with those that are desirous to change do not mingle thyself;
21 Teme ao Senhor , filho meu, e ao rei, e não te entremetas com os que buscam mudanças.
22 For suddenly will their calamity arise; and who knoweth the ruin of both of them!
22 Porque, de repente, se levantará a sua perdição, e a ruína deles, quem a conhecerá?
23 These things also are for the wise. To have respect of persons in judgment is not good.
23 Também estes são provérbios dos sábios. Ter respeito a pessoas no juízo não é bom.
24 Him that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous, will the people denounce, him will nations hold accursed;
24 O que disser ao ímpio: Justo és, os povos o amaldiçoarão, as nações o detestarão.
25 But to those that punish delight shall be given, and upon them shall come the blessing of the good.
25 Mas, para os que o repreenderem, haverá delícias, e sobre eles virá a bênção do bem.
26 Men will kiss the lips of him that giveth a proper answer.
26 Beija com os lábios o que responde com palavras retas.
27 Prepare without thy work, and make it fit in the field for thyself: and afterward build thy house.
27 Prepara fora a tua obra, e apronta-a no campo, e então edifica a tua casa.
28 Be not without cause a witness against thy neighbor; for wouldst thou beguile with thy lips?
28 Não sejas testemunha sem causa contra o teu próximo; por que enganarias com os teus lábios?
29 Say not, As he hath done to me so will I do to him: I will recompense every man according to his doing.
29 Não digas: Como ele me fez a mim, assim lhe farei a ele; pagarei a cada um segundo a sua obra.
30 By the field of a slothful man I once passed along, and by the vineyard of a man void of sense:
30 Passei pelo campo do preguiçoso e junto à vinha do homem falto de entendimento;
31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, nettles had covered its surface, and its stonewall was broken down.
31 e eis que toda estava cheia de cardos, e a sua superfície, coberta de urtigas, e a sua parede de pedra estava derribada.
32 And when I had indeed beheld this I took it to my heart: I saw it, and received a warning.
32 O que tendo eu visto, o considerei; e, vendo- o, recebi instrução.
33 "A little more sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands in lying down;"
33 Um pouco de sono, adormecendo um pouco, encruzando as mãos outro pouco, para estar deitado,
34 But then will thy poverty come like a rover; and thy wants as a man armed with a shield.
34 assim sobrevirá a tua pobreza como um ladrão, e a tua necessidade, como um homem armado.
