1 Then answered Bildad the Shuchite, and said,
1 Bildad de Chua falou então nestes termos:
2 When will ye at length put an end to words? Come to an understanding, and afterward let us speak.
2 Quando acabarás de falar, e terás a sabedoria de nos deixar dizer?
3 For what cause are we counted as beasts, reputed stupid your eyes?
3 Por que nos consideras como animais, e por que passamos por estúpidos a teus olhos?
4 Thou, the one that teareth himself to pieces in his anger shall for thy sake the earth be forsaken, and the rock be moved away out of its place?
4 Tu que te rasgas em teu furor, é preciso que por tua causa a terra seja abandonada, e que os rochedos mudem de lugar?
5 Ah, truly the light of the wicked will be quenched, and the spark of his fire shall not give light.
5 Sim, a luz do mau se apagará, e a flama de seu fogo cessará de alumiar.
6 The light becometh dark in his tent, and his lamp will be quenched above him.
6 A luz obscurece em sua tenda, e sua lâmpada sobre ele se apagará;
7 His powerful steps will be narrowed, and his own counsel will cast him down.
7 seus passos firmes serão cortados, seus próprios desígnios os farão tropeçar.
8 For he is driven into the net by his own feet, and he taketh his walk upon a snare.
8 Seus pés se prendem numa rede, e ele anda sobre malhas.
9 The trap will seize him by the heel, and the robber will prevail over him.
9 A armadilha o segura pelo calcanhar, um laço o aperta.
10 The cord is hidden for him in the ground, and a trap is set for him on the pathway.
10 Uma corda se esconde sob a terra para pegá-lo, uma armadilha, ao longo da vereda.
11 All around do terrors scare him, and chase him as he walketh along.
11 De todas as partes temores o amedrontam, e perseguem-no passo a passo.
12 His firstborn will suffer hunger, and calamity will be ready for his wife.
12 A calamidade vem faminta sobre ele, a infelicidade está postada a seu lado.
13 It will devour the limbs of his body: yea, the firstborn of death will devour his limbs.
13 A pele de seu corpo é devorada, o filho mais velho da morte devora-lhe os membros;
14 Then will be plucked up out of his tent his confidence, and the evil will urge him forward to the king of terrors.
14 é arrancado da tenda, onde se sentia seguro, levam-no ao rei dos terrores.
15 It will dwell in his tent, because it is no more his: there will be strewed sulphur on his habitation.
15 Podes estabelecer-te em sua tenda: ele não existe mais; o enxofre é espalhado em seu domínio.
16 Beneath, his roots will be dried up, and above will his boughs he cut away.
16 Por baixo suas raízes secam, e por cima seus ramos definham.
17 His resemblance vanisheth from the earth, and no name remaineth for him in the streets.
17 Sua memória apaga-se da terra, nada mais lembra o seu nome na região.
18 Men will thrust him out from light into darkness, and out of the world will they drive him.
18 É arrojado da luz para as trevas, é desterrado do mundo.
19 He will have neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any that escapeth in the places of his sojourning.
19 Não tem descendente nem posteridade em sua tribo, nem sobrevivente algum em sua morada.
20 Because of his calamitous day are they that come after him astonished, and they that went before are seized with shuddering.
20 O Ocidente está estupefacto com sua sorte, o Oriente treme diante dela.
21 Yea, such are the dwellings of the unjust, and this is the place of one that knew not God.
21 Eis o que acontece com as tendas dos ímpios, os lugares habitados pelo homem que não conhece Deus.
