¹ My spirit is broken, my days are cut short, the grave is ready for me.

¹ O meu fôlego é corrupto, meus dias são extintos, os túmulos estão prontos para mim.

² Yet truly those that mock are with me, and on their offendings must my eye rest.

² Não há zombadores comigo, e não continuam meus olhos em sua provocação?

³ And thou, Creator! attend, I pray thee, be my surety with thyself: who else is there that would strike hands with me?

³ Estabelece agora, ponha-me em uma garantia contigo; quem é o que irá apertar a minha mão?

⁴ For thou hast concealed their heart against intelligence: therefore art thou not exalted through them.

⁴ Porque tu escondeste dos seus corações o entendimento. Por isso, não os exaltarás.

⁵ Every one of them speaketh deceptively to his friends: may also the eyes of his children fail.

⁵ Aquele que profere lisonja a seus amigos, até os olhos dos seus filhos falharão.

⁶ And he hath placed me here as a byword unto nations; and I become openly as a place of abomination.

⁶ Ele também fez de mim motivo de riso para as pessoas; e antes eu era como um adufe.

⁷ Therefore is my eye dim from vexation, and my limbs are all of them like a shadow.

⁷ Meus olhos também estão escurecidos por causa da tristeza, e todos os meus membros são como a sombra.

⁸ Upright men must be astonished at this, and the innocent must arouse himself against the hypocrite.

⁸ Os homens retos ficarão espantados com isto, e o inocente se agitará contra o hipócrita.

⁹ Yet will the righteous hold firmly on to his way; and he that is clean of hands will acquire additional strength.

⁹ O justo também permanecerá em seu caminho, e aquele que tem mãos limpas ficará cada vez mais forte.

¹⁰ But all of you, do only return, and come but to me: and yet I shall not find among you one wise man.

¹⁰ Mas, em relação a vós todos, retornai e vinde agora, porque eu não posso achar um homem sábio entre vós.

¹¹ My days are past, my resolves are broken off, even the thoughtsthe possessions of my heart.

¹¹ Os meus dias passaram, e meus propósitos são quebrados, até mesmo os pensamentos do meu coração.

¹² These would change the night into day, the light as near in the presence of darkness.

¹² Eles trocam a noite em dia; a luz é curta por causa das trevas.

¹³ When I hope for the nether world as my house; in the darkness have I spread my couch;

¹³ Se eu espero, a sepultura é a minha casa; eu fiz o meu leito nas trevas.

¹⁴ When I call to corruption, Thou art my father: Thou art my mother, and my sister, to the worms.

¹⁴ Eu disse à corrupção: Tu és meu pai; e aos vermes: Vós sois minha mãe, e minha irmã.

¹⁵ Ay, where is then my hope? as for my hope, who will see it fulfilled?

¹⁵ E onde está agora a minha esperança? E quanto a minha esperança, quem a verá?

¹⁶ Let then my limbs sink down to the nether world: truly in the dust alone there is rest for all.

¹⁶ Eles descerão às barras da cova, quando juntos nosso descanso estiver no pó.
