1 Verdadeiramente, bom é Deus para com Israel, para com os limpos de coração.
2 But as for me, my feet almost departed [from the way]; my steps had almost slipped.
2 Quanto a mim, os meus pés quase que se desviaram; pouco faltou para que escorregassem os meus passos.
3 For I became angry against the foolish [when] I saw the peace of the wicked.
3 Pois eu tinha inveja dos soberbos, ao ver a prosperidade dos ímpios.
4 Because [there is] no restraint that would bring about their death, but their strength [is] firm.
4 Porque não há apertos na sua morte, mas firme está a sua força.
5 They [are] not in trouble [as other] men; neither are they plagued like [other] men.
5 Não se acham em trabalhos como outra gente, nem são afligidos como outros homens.
6 Therefore they are crowned with pride; they cover themselves with violence [as] a garment.
6 Pelo que a soberba os cerca como um colar; vestem-se de violência como de um adorno.
7 Their eyes stand out with fatness; they easily obtain the desires of their heart.
7 Os olhos deles estão inchados de gordura; superabundam as imaginações do seu coração.
8 They are lawless and speak wickedly [of doing] violence; they speak loftily.
8 São corrompidos e tratam maliciosamente de opressão; falam arrogantemente.
9 They set their mouth against heaven, and their tongue walks through the earth.
9 Erguem a sua boca contra os céus, e a sua língua percorre a terra.
10 Therefore his people shall return here; and waters of a full [cup] are wrung out to them.
10 Pelo que o seu povo volta aqui, e águas de copo cheio se lhes espremem.
11 And they say, How does God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
11 E dizem: Como o sabe Deus? Ou: Há conhecimento no Altíssimo?
12 Behold, these ungodly [men], without being troubled by the world obtain riches.
12 Eis que estes são ímpios; e, todavia, estão sempre em segurança, e se lhes aumentam as riquezas.
13 Verily, in vain have I cleansed my heart and washed my hands in innocency
13 Na verdade que em vão tenho purificado o meu coração e lavado as minhas mãos na inocência.
14 and been plagued all day long and chastened every morning:
14 Pois todo o dia tenho sido afligido e castigado cada manhã.
15 If I should say, I will speak as they [do]; behold, I should deny the generation of thy sons.
15 Se eu dissesse: Também falarei assim; eis que ofenderia a geração de teus filhos.
16 I shall meditate that I might understand this; it [is very] hard for me to see.
16 Quando pensava em compreender isto, fiquei sobremodo perturbado;
17 When I come into the sanctuary of God, [then] I shall understand their end.
17 até que entrei no santuário de Deus; então, entendi eu o fim deles.
18 Surely thou didst set them in slippery places; in desolation thou shalt cause them to fall.
18 Certamente, tu os puseste em lugares escorregadios; tu os lanças em destruição.
19 How they are [brought] into desolation, as in a moment! They have come to an end; they are utterly consumed with terrors.
19 Como caem na desolação, quase num momento! Ficam totalmente consumidos de terrores.
20 As the dream of [one] who awakes; [so], O Lord, when thou shalt rise up, thou shalt despise their appearances.
20 Como faz com um sonho o que acorda, assim, ó Senhor, quando acordares, desprezarás a aparência deles.
21 Truly my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my kidneys.
21 Assim, o meu coração se azedou, e sinto picadas nos meus rins.
22 But I [was] ignorant and did not understand; I was [as] a beast before thee.
22 Assim, me embruteci e nada sabia; era como animal perante ti.
23 Nevertheless I [was] continually with thee; thou hast apprehended [me] by my right hand.
23 Todavia, estou de contínuo contigo; tu me seguraste pela mão direita.
24 Thou hast guided me with thy counsel, and afterward thou shalt receive me [unto] glory.
24 Guiar-me-ás com o teu conselho e, depois, me receberás em glória.
25 Whom have I in heaven [but thee]? And apart from thee [there is] nothing upon the earth [that] I desire.
25 A quem tenho eu no céu senão a ti? E na terra não há quem eu deseje além de ti.
26 My flesh and my heart fail; the strength of my heart [is] that God is my portion for ever.
26 A minha carne e o meu coração desfalecem; mas Deus é a fortaleza do meu coração e a minha porção para sempre.
27 For, behold, those that stray from thee shall perish; thou dost cut off all those that go a whoring from thee.
27 Pois eis que os que se alongam de ti perecerão; tu tens destruído todos aqueles que, apostatando, se desviam de ti.
28 But [as for me], to draw near to God is good; I have put my hope in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.:
28 Mas, para mim, bom é aproximar-me de Deus; pus a minha confiança no Senhor Deus, para anunciar todas as tuas obras.
