1 Ao mestre de canto. Hino dos filhos de Coré. Ó Deus, ouvimos com os nossos próprios ouvidos, nossos pais nos contaram a obra que fizestes em seus dias, nos tempos de antanho.
2 [How] thou didst drive out the Gentiles with thy hand and plant them [in their place]; [how] thou didst afflict the peoples and cast them out.
2 Para implantá-los, expulsastes com as vossas mãos nações pagãs; para lhes dardes lugar, abatestes povos.
3 For they did not get the land in inheritance by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them, but thy right hand and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance because thy delight was in them.
3 Com efeito, não foi com sua espada que conquistaram essa terra, nem foi seu braço que os salvou, mas foi vossa mão, foi vosso braço, foi o resplendor de vossa face, porque os amastes.
4 Thou art my King, O God; command saving health unto Jacob.
4 Meu Deus, vós sois o meu rei, vós que destes as vitórias a Jacó.
5 Through thee will we push down our enemies; through thy name will we tread under those that rise up against us.
5 Por vossa graça repelimos os nossos inimigos, em vosso nome esmagamos nossos adversários.
6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.
6 Não foi em meu arco que pus minha confiança, nem foi minha espada que me salvou,
7 But thou hast saved us from our enemies and hast put to shame those that hated us.
7 mas fostes vós que nos livrastes de nossos inimigos e confundistes os que nos odiavam.
8 In God we boast all the day long and praise thy name for ever. Selah.
8 Era em Deus que em todo o tempo nos gloriávamos, e seu nome sempre celebrávamos.
9 But thou hast cast [us] off and put us to shame and doth not go forth with our armies.
9 Agora, porém, nos rejeitais e confundis; e já não ides à frente de nossos exércitos.
10 Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy, and we are spoiled by those who hate us.
10 Vós nos fizestes recuar diante do inimigo, e os que nos odiavam pilharam nossos bens.
11 Thou hast given us [over] like sheep [appointed] for food and hast scattered us among the Gentiles.
11 Entregastes-nos como ovelhas para o corte, e nos dispersastes entre os pagãos.
12 Thou hast sold thy people for nothing and dost not increase [thy wealth] by their price.
12 Vendestes vosso povo por um preço vil, e pouco lucrastes com esta venda.
13 Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to those that are round about us.
13 Fizeste-nos o opróbrio de nossos vizinhos, irrisão e ludíbrio daqueles que nos cercam.
14 Thou makest us a byword among the Gentiles, a shaking of the head among the people.
14 Fizestes de nós a sátira das nações pagãs, e os povos nos escarnecem à nossa vista.
15 My confusion [is] continually before me, and the shame of my face has covered me,
15 Continuamente estou envergonhado, a confusão cobre-me a face,
16 for the voice of him that reproaches and blasphemes by reason of the enemy and of the avenger.
16 por causa dos insultos e ultrajes de um inimigo cheio de rancor.
17 All this is come upon us; yet we have not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.
17 E, apesar de todos esses males que nos sobrevieram, não vos esquecemos, não violamos a vossa aliança.
18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way
18 Nosso coração não se desviou de vós, nem nossos passos se apartaram de vossos caminhos,
19 though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons and covered us with the shadow of death.
19 para que nos esmagueis no lugar da aflição e nos envolvais de trevas...
20 If we have forgotten the name of our God or stretched out our hands to a strange god,
20 Se houvéramos olvidado o nome de nosso Deus e estendido as mãos a um deus estranho,
21 shall not God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.
21 porventura Deus não o teria percebido, ele que conhece os segredos do coração?
22 Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.
22 Mas por vossa causa somos entregues à morte todos os dias e tratados como ovelhas de matadouro.
23 Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? Arise, do not cast [us] off for ever.
23 Acordai, Senhor! Por que dormis? Despertai! Não nos rejeiteis continuamente!
24 Why dost thou hide thy face [and] forget our affliction and our oppression?
24 Por que ocultais a vossa face e esqueceis nossas misérias e opressões?
25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our belly cleaves unto the earth.
25 Nossa alma está prostrada até o pó, e colado no solo o nosso corpo.
26 Arise for our help and ransom us for thy mercies' sake.:
26 Levantai-vos em nosso socorro e livrai-nos, pela vossa misericórdia.
