1 [Aleph] I [am] a man [that] sees affliction in the rod of his wrath.
1 Eu sou o homem que viu a aflição pela vara do furor de Deus.
2 [Aleph] He has led me and brought [me into] darkness, but not [into] light.
2 Ele me levou e me fez andar em trevas e não na luz.
3 [Aleph] Surely he is turned against me; he turns his hand [against me] all the day.
3 Deveras ele volveu contra mim a mão, de contínuo, todo o dia.
4 [Beth] My flesh and my skin he has made old; he has broken my bones.
4 Fez envelhecer a minha carne e a minha pele, despedaçou os meus ossos.
5 [Beth] He has built against me and compassed [me] with gall and travail.
5 Edificou contra mim e me cercou de veneno e de dor.
6 [Beth] He has set me in dark places as [those that are] dead for ever.
6 Fez-me habitar em lugares tenebrosos, como os que estão mortos para sempre.
7 [Gimel] He has hedged me about that I cannot get out; he has made my chain heavy.
7 Cercou-me de um muro, e já não posso sair; agravou-me com grilhões de bronze.
8 [Gimel] Even when I cried and shouted, he shut out my prayer.
8 Ainda quando clamo e grito, ele não admite a minha oração.
9 [Gimel] He has enclosed my ways with hewn stone; he has made my paths crooked.
9 Fechou os meus caminhos com pedras lavradas, fez tortuosas as minhas veredas.
10 [Daleth] He [was] unto me [as] a bear lying in wait [and as] a lion in secret places.
10 Fez-se-me como urso à espreita, um leão de emboscada.
11 [Daleth] He has made my ways crooked and pulled me in pieces; he has made me desolate.
11 Desviou os meus caminhos e me fez em pedaços; deixou-me assolado.
12 [Daleth] He has bent his bow and set me as a mark for the arrow.
12 Entesou o seu arco e me pôs como alvo à flecha.
13 [He] He has caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my kidneys.
13 Fez que me entrassem no coração as flechas da sua aljava.
14 [He] I was a derision to all my people [and] their song every day.
14 Fui feito objeto de escárnio para todo o meu povo e a sua canção, todo o dia.
15 [He] He has filled me with bitterness, he has made me drunk with wormwood.
15 Fartou-me de amarguras, saciou-me de absinto.
16 [Vau] He has broken my teeth with gravel stones; he has covered me with ashes.
16 Fez-me quebrar com pedrinhas de areia os meus dentes, cobriu-me de cinza.
17 [Vau] My soul removed itself far from peace; I forgot about good.
17 Afastou a paz de minha alma; esqueci-me do bem.
18 [Vau] And I said, My strength and my hope of the LORD is perished.
18 Então, disse eu: já pereceu a minha glória, como também a minha esperança no
19 [Zain] Remember my affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
19 Lembra-te da minha aflição e do meu pranto, do absinto e do veneno.
20 [Zain] My soul shall have [them] still in remembrance because it is humbled in me.
20 Minha alma, continuamente, os recorda e se abate dentro de mim.
21 [Zain] This shall go down into my heart; therefore I shall wait.
21 Quero trazer à memória o que me pode dar esperança.
22 [Chet] It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed because his mercies never diminish.
22 As misericórdias do Senhor são a causa de não sermos consumidos, porque as suas misericórdias não têm fim;
23 [Chet They are] new every morning; great [is] thy faith.
23 renovam-se cada manhã. Grande é a tua fidelidade.
24 [Chet] The LORD [is] my portion, saith my soul; therefore I will wait for him.
24 A minha porção é o Senhor , diz a minha alma; portanto, esperarei nele.
25 [Teth] The LORD [is] good unto those that wait in him, to the soul [that] seeks him.
25 Bom é o Senhor para os que esperam por ele, para a alma que o busca.
26 [Teth] [It is] good to wait quietly in the salvation of the LORD.
26 Bom é aguardar a salvação do Senhor , e isso, em silêncio.
27 [Teth] [It is] good for the man if he bears the yoke from his youth.
27 Bom é para o homem suportar o jugo na sua mocidade.
28 [Jod] He shall sit alone and keep silence because he has borne [it] upon him.
28 Assente-se solitário e fique em silêncio; porquanto esse jugo Deus pôs sobre ele;
29 [Jod] He shall put his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.
29 ponha a boca no pó; talvez ainda haja esperança.
30 [Jod] He shall turn [his] cheek unto him that smites him; he shall be filled with reproach.
30 Dê a face ao que o fere; farte-se de afronta.
31 [Caph] For the Lord will not cast off for ever:
31 O Senhor não rejeitará para sempre;
32 [Caph] But though he causes grief, yet he will also have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
32 pois, ainda que entristeça a alguém, usará de compaixão segundo a grandeza das suas misericórdias;
33 [Caph] For he does not afflict nor grieve the sons of men from his heart.
33 porque não aflige, nem entristece de bom grado os filhos dos homens.
34 [Lamed] To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
34 Pisar debaixo dos pés a todos os presos da terra,
35 [Lamed] To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,
35 perverter o direito do homem perante o Altíssimo,
36 [Lamed] To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord does not approve.
36 subverter ao homem no seu pleito, não o veria o Senhor?
37 [Mem] Who shall he be that saith that something comes which the Lord has not sent?
37 Quem é aquele que diz, e assim acontece, quando o Senhor o não mande?
38 [Mem] Out of the mouth of the most High proceeds not evil and good?
38 Acaso, não procede do Altíssimo tanto o mal como o bem?
39 [Mem] Why does the living man have pain, the man in his sins?
39 Por que, pois, se queixa o homem vivente? Queixe-se cada um dos seus próprios pecados.
40 [Nun] Let us search out our ways, and seek, and turn again to the LORD.
40 Esquadrinhemos os nossos caminhos, provemo-los e voltemos para o
41 [Nun] Let us lift up our heart with [our] hands unto God in the heavens.
41 Levantemos o coração, juntamente com as mãos, para Deus nos céus, dizendo:
42 [Nun] We have rebelled and been disloyal; therefore thou hast not forgiven.
42 Nós prevaricamos e fomos rebeldes, e tu não nos perdoaste.
43 [Samech] Thou hast unfurled anger and persecuted us; thou hast slain, thou hast not forgiven.
43 Cobriste-nos de ira e nos perseguiste; e sem piedade nos mataste.
44 [Samech] Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud that [our] prayer should not pass through.
44 De nuvens te encobriste para que não passe a nossa oração.
45 [Samech] Thou hast made us [as] the offscouring and abomination in the midst of the peoples.
45 Como cisco e refugo nos puseste no meio dos povos.
46 [Pe] All our enemies have opened their mouths upon us.
46 Todos os nossos inimigos abriram contra nós a boca.
47 [Pe] Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.
47 Sobre nós vieram o temor e a cova, a assolação e a ruína.
48 [Pe] My eyes stream with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
48 Dos meus olhos se derramam torrentes de águas, por causa da destruição da filha do meu povo.
49 [Ain] My eyes run down, and cease not, for there is no relief,
49 Os meus olhos choram, não cessam, e não há descanso,
50 [Ain] Until the LORD looks down, and beholds from the heavens.
50 até que o Senhor atenda e veja lá do céu.
51 [Ain] My eyes make my soul sad because of all the daughters of my city.
51 Os meus olhos entristecem a minha alma, por causa de todas as filhas da minha cidade.
52 [Tzaddi] My enemies hunted me like a bird, without cause.
52 Caçaram-me, como se eu fosse ave, os que sem motivo são meus inimigos.
53 [Tzaddi] They bound up my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.
53 Para me destruírem, lançaram-me na cova e atiraram pedras sobre mim.
54 [Tzaddi] Waters flowed over my head; [then] I said, I am dead.
54 Águas correram sobre a minha cabeça; então, disse: estou perdido!
55 [Koph] I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon.
55 Da mais profunda cova, Senhor , invoquei o teu nome.
56 [Koph] Thou hast heard my voice; do not hide thine ear at my cry that I might breath.
56 Ouviste a minha voz; não escondas o ouvido aos meus lamentos, ao meu clamor.
57 [Koph] Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee; thou didst say, Fear not.
57 De mim te aproximaste no dia em que te invoquei; disseste: Não temas.
58 [Resh] O Lord, thou hast pleaded the cause of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.
58 Pleiteaste, Senhor, a causa da minha alma, remiste a minha vida.
59 [Resh] O LORD, thou hast seen where I was wrong; plead thou my cause.
59 Viste, Senhor , a injustiça que me fizeram; julga a minha causa.
60 [Resh] Thou hast seen all their vengeance [and] all their imaginations against me.
60 Viste a sua vingança toda, todos os seus pensamentos contra mim.
61 [Schin] Thou hast heard their reproach, O LORD, [and] all their imaginations against me;
61 Ouviste as suas afrontas, Senhor , todos os seus pensamentos contra mim;
62 [Schin] The words of those that rose up against me, and their design against me all the day.
62 as acusações dos meus adversários e o seu murmurar contra mim, o dia todo.
63 [Schin] Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I [am] their music.
63 Observa-os quando se assentam e quando se levantam; eu sou objeto da sua canção.
64 [Tau] Render unto them a recompense, O LORD, according to the work of their hands.
64 Tu lhes darás a paga, Senhor , segundo a obra das suas mãos.
65 [Tau] Give them sorrow of heart; thy curse unto them.
65 Tu lhes darás cegueira de coração, a tua maldição imporás sobre eles.
66 [Tau] Persecute them in thy anger and cut them off from under the heavens, oh LORD.:
66 Na tua ira, os perseguirás, e eles serão eliminados de debaixo dos céus do
