1 Moreover, Job continued his parable and said,
1 Jó continuou em sua fala, dizendo:
2 As God lives, [who] has taken away my rights; and the Almighty, [who] has made my soul bitter,
2 “Tão certo como vive Deus, que me tirou o direito, o Todo-Poderoso, que amargurou a minha alma,
3 that all the while my breath [is] in me, and the spirit of God [is] in my nostrils,
3 enquanto eu puder respirar e o sopro de Deus estiver nas minhas narinas,
4 my lips shall not speak iniquity, nor my tongue utter deceit.
4 nunca os meus lábios falarão injustiça, nem a minha língua pronunciará engano.
5 In no wise should I justify you; until I die I will not remove my integrity from me.
5 Longe de mim que eu dê razão a vocês! Até morrer, nunca abrirei mão da minha integridade.
6 I hold fast to my righteousness and will not let it go; my heart shall not reproach [me] so long as I live.
6 À minha justiça me apegarei e não a largarei; a minha consciência não me acusará em toda a minha vida.”
7 Let my enemy be as the wicked and my adversary as the unrighteous.
7 “Que o meu inimigo seja como o perverso, e o que se levantar contra mim, como o injusto.
8 For what [is] the hope of the hypocrite, though he has stolen much, when God takes away his soul?
8 Porque qual será a esperança do ímpio, quando lhe for tirada a vida, quando Deus lhe arrancar a alma?
9 Will God hear his cry when the tribulation comes upon him?
9 Será que Deus ouvirá o seu clamor, quando lhe sobrevier a angústia?
10 Will he delight himself in the Almighty? Will he always call upon God?
10 Será que o ímpio encontrará prazer no Todo-Poderoso e invocará a Deus a todo o momento?”
11 I will teach you [what there is] in the hand of God; I will not conceal that which [is] regarding the Almighty.
11 “Vou ensinar a vocês a respeito do poder de Deus e não lhes ocultarei o que está na mente do Todo-Poderoso.
12 Behold, all ye yourselves have seen [it]; why then are ye so completely vain?
12 Eis que todos vocês já viram isso. Por que, então, ficam repetindo palavras que não fazem sentido?”
13 This [is] the portion of a wicked man with God and the heritage of the violent, [which] they shall receive of the Almighty.
13 “Esta é a porção que Deus dará ao perverso, a herança que os opressores receberão do Todo-Poderoso:
14 If their sons are multiplied, [it is] for the sword; and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.
14 Se os filhos deles se multiplicarem, será para que sejam mortos à espada; e os seus descendentes passarão fome.
15 Those that remain of him shall be buried in death; and their widows shall not weep.
15 Os que sobreviverem, a peste os sepultará, e as suas viúvas não chorarão por eles.”
16 Though he heaps up silver as the dust and prepares raiment as the clay,
16 “Se o perverso amontoar prata como pó e acumular roupas como barro,
17 he may prepare [it], but the just shall put [it] on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.
17 poderá até acumular tudo isso, mas o justo é que vestirá as roupas, e o inocente ficará com a prata.
18 He built his house as a moth and as a booth [that] the keeper makes.
18 A casa que ele edifica é como a da traça, como a cabana que o vigia constrói.
19 The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered; he shall open his eyes and not see anyone.
19 Rico, ele se deita com a sua riqueza, mas, quando abre os olhos, ela já se foi.
20 Terrors shall take hold on him as waters; a whirlwind shall carry him away in the night.
20 Pavores se apoderam dele como inundação, de noite a tempestade o arrebata.
21 The east wind shall take him away, and he shall depart; the storm shall catch him up out of his place.
21 O vento leste o leva, e ele se vai; varre-o com ímpeto do seu lugar.
22 For [God] shall cast down on him and not spare; he would attempt to flee out of his hand.
22 Deus lança isto sobre ele e não o poupa, a ele que procura fugir às pressas da sua mão.
23 [Men] shall clap their hands at him, and from his place they shall hiss at him.:
23 Diante de sua queda, as pessoas batem palmas; ao vê-lo ir embora o vaiam com assobios.”
