1 Then some Pharisees and scribes came from Jerusalem to Jesus and said,
1 Então escribas e fariseus vindos de Jerusalém chegaram a Jesus e lhe perguntaram:
2 “Why do your disciples disregard the tradition of the elders? For they don't wash their hands when they eat.”
2 Por que os teus discípulos transgridem a tradição dos anciãos? Pois eles não lavam as mãos quando comem pão.
3 But he answered them,“Why do you also disregard the commandment of God because of your tradition?
3 Mas ele, respondendo, disse-lhes: Por que também vós transgredis o mandamento de Deus pela vossa tradição?
4 For God said,‘Honor your father and your mother,’and ‘Whoever curses father or mother must certainly be put to death.’
4 Porque Deus ordenou, dizendo: Honra a teu pai e a tua mãe; e: Quem amaldiçoar o pai ou a mãe, deixe ele morrer de morte.
5 But you say ‘Whoever tells his father or his mother, “Whatever support you might have received from me has been given to God,”
5 Mas vós dizeis: Qualquer que disser a seu pai ou a sua mãe: Isto é uma oferta, tudo quanto puder ser aproveitado de mim;
6 does not have to honor his father.’Because of your tradition, then, you have revoked the authority of God's word.
6 e não honrar a seu pai nem a sua mãe, esse estará livre. Assim invalidastes o mandamento de Deus pela vossa tradição.
7 You hypocrites! How well did Isaiah prophesy of you when he said,
7 Hipócritas, bem profetizou Isaías a vosso respeito, dizendo:
8 ‘These people honor me with their lips,but their hearts are far from me.
8 Este povo se aproxima de mim com a sua boca, e me honra com os seus lábios, mas o seu coração está longe de mim.
9 Their worship of me is empty,because they teach human rules as doctrines.’”
9 Mas, em vão eles me adoram, ensinando como doutrinas os mandamentos dos homens.
10 Then he called to the crowd and said to them,“Listen and understand!
10 E, ele chamando a multidão, disse-lhes: Ouvi, e compreendei:
11 It is not what goes into the mouth that makes a person unclean. It is what comes out of the mouth that makes a person unclean.”
11 Não é o que entra pela boca que contamina o homem, mas o que procede da boca, isso é o que contamina o homem.
12 Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you realize that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this statement?”
12 Então, chegando-se a ele os seus discípulos, disseram-lhe: Tu sabes que os fariseus se ofenderam ouvindo esse provérbio?
13 He replied,“Every plant that my heavenly Father did not plant will be pulled up by the roots.
13 Mas ele, respondendo, disse: Toda a planta que meu Pai celeste não plantou, será arrancada.
14 Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind.If one blind person leads another blind person, both will fall into a ditch.”
14 Deixai-os sozinhos; eles são cegos condutores de cegos. E se um cego conduzir outro cego, ambos cairão na cova.
15 Then Peter said to him, “Explain to us this parable.”
15 Então Pedro respondeu, e disse-lhe: Declara-nos esta parábola.
16 Jesus said,“Are you still so ignorant?
16 E Jesus disse: Estais vós também ainda sem compreender?
17 Don't you know that everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and then is expelled as waste?
17 Ainda não compreendeis que tudo o que entra pela boca vai para o ventre, e é lançado fora?
18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and it is those things that make a person unclean.
18 Mas, estas coisas que saem da boca vêm do coração, e elas contaminam o homem.
19 For it is out of the heart that evil thoughts come, as well as murder, adultery, sexual immorality, stealing, false testimony, and slander.
19 Porque do coração procedem os maus pensamentos, assassinatos, adultérios, fornicação, furtos, falsos testemunhos e blasfêmias.
20 These are the things that make a person unclean. But eating with unwashed hands doesn't make a person unclean.”
20 São essas coisas que contaminam o homem; mas comer sem lavar as mãos não contamina o homem.
21 Then Jesus left that place and went to the region of Tyre and Sidon.
21 E, partindo Jesus dali, foi para as regiões de Tiro e Sidom.
22 Suddenly a Canaanite woman from that territory came near and began to shout, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed!”
22 E, eis que uma mulher cananeia, vindo daquelas regiões, gritou para ele, dizendo: Tenha misericórdia de mim, ó Senhor, Filho de Davi; minha filha está severamente atormentada por um demônio.
23 But he didn't answer her at all. Then his disciples came up and kept urging him, “Send her away, for she keeps on screaming after us.”
23 Mas ele não lhe respondeu uma palavra. E, vindo a ele os seus discípulos, pediram-lhe, dizendo: Manda-a embora, porque está gritando atrás de nós.
24 But he replied,“I was sent only to the lost sheep of the nationof Israel.”
24 Mas ele, respondendo, disse: Eu não fui enviado senão às ovelhas perdidas da casa de Israel.
25 Then she came and fell down before him, saying, “Lord, help me!”
25 Então veio ela e, adorando-o, disse: Senhor, socorre-me!
26 He replied,“It is not rightto take the children's bread and throw it to the puppies.”
26 Ele, porém, respondeu: Não é bom tomar o pão dos filhos e lançá-lo aos cães.
27 She said, “Yes, Lord. But even the puppies eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ tables.”
27 E ela disse: Verdade, Senhor; ainda assim, os cães comem das migalhas que caem da mesa dos seus senhores.
28 Then Jesus answered her,“O woman, your faith is great! Let it be done for you as you want.” That very hour her daughter was healed.
28 Então, respondendo Jesus, disse-lhe: Ó mulher, grande é a tua fé! Seja isto assim como tu desejas. E sua filha ficou sã naquela mesma hora.
29 Jesus left there and went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up on a hillside and sat down there.
29 Partindo Jesus dali, aproximou-se do mar da Galileia, e, subindo a um monte, sentou-se ali.
30 Large crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, those unable to talk, and many others. They placed them at his feet, and he healed them.
30 E grandes multidões vieram a ele, trazendo aqueles que eram coxos, cegos, mudos, aleijados, e muitos outros, e os puseram aos pés de Jesus, e ele os curou.
31 As a result, the crowd was amazed to see those who were unable to talk speaking, the crippled healed, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. So they praised the God of Israel.
31 De modo que a multidão se maravilhou ao ver os mudos falando, os aleijados curados, os coxos andando, e os cegos vendo; e glorificaram ao Deus de Israel.
32 Then Jesus called his disciples and said,“I have compassion for the crowd because they have already been with me for three days and have nothing to eat. I don't want to send them away without food, or they may faint on the road.”
32 Então Jesus, chamando os seus discípulos, disse: Eu tenho compaixão da multidão, porque eles continuam comigo há três dias, e não tem o que comer; e eu não quero despedi-los em jejum, para que não desfaleçam no caminho.
33 The disciples asked him, “Where in the wilderness are we to get enough bread to feed such a crowd?”
33 E os seus discípulos disseram-lhe: De onde encontraremos, aqui no deserto, tantos pães para saciar tão grande multidão?
34 Jesus said to them,“How many loaves of bread do you have?”They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.”
34 E Jesus disse-lhes: Quantos pães vocês têm? E eles disseram: Sete, e alguns pequenos peixes.
35 Ordering the crowd to sit down on the ground,
35 Então ele ordenou à multidão para que se assentasse no chão.
36 he took the seven loaves and the fish and gave thanks. Then he broke them in pieces and kept giving them to his disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.
36 E ele, tomando os sete pães e os peixes, e dando graças, partiu-os, e deu-os aos seus discípulos, e os discípulos à multidão.
37 All of them ate and were filled. Then the disciples picked up what was left of the broken pieces, seven baskets full.
37 E todos eles comeram e se satisfizeram; e juntaram as sobras de pedaços, e encheram sete cestos.
38 Now those who had eaten were four thousand men, besides women and children.
38 Ora, os que tinham comido eram quatro mil homens, além das mulheres e crianças.
39 After he sent the crowds away, he got into a boat and went to the region of Magadan.
39 E, despedindo a multidão, tomou o barco, e foi para a região de Magdala.
