1 THE WORDS OF KING LEMUEL: The prophecie which his mother taught him.
1 Palavras de Lamuel, rei de Massa, que lhe foram ensinadas por sua mãe:
2 What my sonne! and what ye sonne of my wombe! and what, O sonne of my desires!
2 Meu filho, filho de minhas entranhas, que te direi eu? Não, ó filho de meus votos!
3 Giue not thy strength vnto women, nor thy wayes, which is to destroy Kings.
3 Não dês teu vigor às mulheres e teu caminho àquelas que perdem os reis.
4 It is not for Kings, O Lemuel, it is not for Kings to drink wine nor for princes strog drinke,
4 Não é próprio dos reis, Lamuel, não convém aos reis beber vinho, nem aos príncipes dar-se aos licores,
5 Lest he drinke and forget the decree, and change the iudgement of all the children of affliction.
5 para que, bebendo, eles não esqueçam a lei e não desconheçam o direito de todos os infelizes.
6 Giue ye strong drinke vnto him that is readie to perish, and wine vnto them that haue griefe of heart.
6 Dai a bebida forte àquele que desfalece e o vinho àquele que tem amargura no coração:
7 Let him drinke, that he may forget his pouertie, and remember his miserie no more.
7 que ele beba e esquecerá sua miséria e já não se lembrará de suas mágoas.
8 Open thy mouth for the domme in the cause of all the children of destruction.
8 Abre tua boca a favor do mundo, pela causa de todos os abandonados;
9 Open thy mouth: iudge righteously, and iudge the afflicted, and the poore.
9 abre tua boca para pronunciar sentenças justas, faze justiça ao aflito e ao indigente.
10 Who shall finde a vertuous woman? for her price is farre aboue the pearles.
10 Uma mulher virtuosa, quem pode encontrá-la? Superior ao das pérolas é o seu valor.
11 The heart of her husband trusteth in her, and he shall haue no neede of spoyle.
11 Confia nela o coração de seu marido, e jamais lhe faltará coisa alguma.
12 She will doe him good, and not euill all the dayes of her life.
12 Ela lhe proporciona o bem, nunca o mal, em todos os dias de sua vida.
13 She seeketh wooll and flaxe, and laboureth cheerefully with her handes.
13 Ela procura lã e linho e trabalha com mão alegre.
14 She is like the shippes of marchants: shee bringeth her foode from afarre.
14 Semelhante ao navio do mercador, manda vir seus víveres de longe.
15 And she riseth, whiles it is yet night: and giueth the portion to her houshold, and the ordinarie to her maides.
15 Levanta-se, ainda de noite, distribui a comida à sua casa e a tarefa às suas servas.
16 She considereth a field, and getteth it: and with the fruite of her handes she planteth a vineyarde.
16 Ela encontra uma terra, adquire-a. Planta uma vinha com o ganho de suas mãos.
17 She girdeth her loynes with strength, and strengtheneth her armes.
17 Cinge os rins de fortaleza, revigora seus braços.
18 She feeleth that her marchandise is good: her candle is not put out by night.
18 Alegra-se com o seu lucro, e sua lâmpada não se apaga durante a noite.
19 She putteth her handes to the wherue, and her handes handle the spindle.
19 Põe a mão na roca, seus dedos manejam o fuso.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poore, and putteth foorth her hands to the needie.
20 Estende os braços ao infeliz e abre a mão ao indigente.
21 She feareth not the snowe for her familie: for all her familie is clothed with skarlet.
21 Ela não teme a neve em sua casa, porque toda a sua família tem vestes duplas.
22 She maketh her selfe carpets: fine linen and purple is her garment.
22 Faz para si cobertas: suas vestes são de linho fino e de púrpura.
23 Her husband is knowen in the gates, when he sitteth with the Elders of the land.
23 Seu marido é considerado nas portas da cidade, quando se senta com os anciãos da terra.
24 She maketh sheetes, and selleth them, and giueth girdels vnto the marchant.
24 Tece linha e o vende, fornece cintos ao mercador.
25 Strength and honour is her clothing, and in the latter day she shall reioyce.
25 Fortaleza e graça lhe servem de ornamentos; ri-se do dia de amanhã.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdome, and the lawe of grace is in her tongue.
26 Abre a boca com sabedoria, amáveis instruções surgem de sua língua.
27 She ouerseeth the wayes of her housholde, and eateth not the bread of ydlenes.
27 Vigia o andamento de sua casa e não come o pão da ociosidade.
28 Her children rise vp, and call her blessed: her husband also shall prayse her, saying,
28 Seus filhos se levantam para proclamá-la bem-aventurada e seu marido para elogiá-la.
29 Many daughters haue done vertuously: but thou surmountest them all.
29 Muitas mulheres demonstram vigor, mas tu excedes a todas.
30 Fauour is deceitfull, and beautie is vanitie: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praysed.
30 A graça é falaz e a beleza é vã; a mulher inteligente é a que se deve louvar.
31 Giue her of the fruite of her hands, and let her owne workes prayse her in the gates.
31 Dai-lhe o fruto de suas mãos e que suas obras a louvem nas portas da cidade.
