1 THE WORDS OF KING LEMUEL: The prophecie which his mother taught him.
1 Ditados do rei Lemuel; uma exortação que sua mãe lhe fez:
2 What my sonne! and what ye sonne of my wombe! and what, O sonne of my desires!
2 "Ó meu filho, filho do meu ventre, filho de meus votos,
3 Giue not thy strength vnto women, nor thy wayes, which is to destroy Kings.
3 não gaste sua força com mulheres, seu vigor com aquelas que destroem reis.
4 It is not for Kings, O Lemuel, it is not for Kings to drink wine nor for princes strog drinke,
4 "Não convém aos reis, ó Lemuel; não convém aos reis beber vinho, não convém aos governantes desejar bebida fermentada,
5 Lest he drinke and forget the decree, and change the iudgement of all the children of affliction.
5 para não suceder que bebam e se esqueçam do que a lei determina, e deixem de fazer justiça aos oprimidos.
6 Giue ye strong drinke vnto him that is readie to perish, and wine vnto them that haue griefe of heart.
6 Dê bebida fermentada aos que estão prestes a morrer, vinho aos que estão angustiados;
7 Let him drinke, that he may forget his pouertie, and remember his miserie no more.
7 para que bebam e se esqueçam da sua pobreza, e não mais se lembrem da sua infelicidade.
8 Open thy mouth for the domme in the cause of all the children of destruction.
8 "Erga a voz em favor dos que não podem defender-se, seja o defensor de todos os desamparados.
9 Open thy mouth: iudge righteously, and iudge the afflicted, and the poore.
9 Erga a voz e julgue com justiça; defenda os direitos dos pobres e dos necessitados".
10 Who shall finde a vertuous woman? for her price is farre aboue the pearles.
10 Uma esposa exemplar; feliz quem a encontrar! É muito mais valiosa que os rubis.
11 The heart of her husband trusteth in her, and he shall haue no neede of spoyle.
11 Seu marido tem plena confiança nela e nunca lhe falta coisa alguma.
12 She will doe him good, and not euill all the dayes of her life.
12 Ela só lhe faz o bem, e nunca o mal, todos os dias da sua vida.
13 She seeketh wooll and flaxe, and laboureth cheerefully with her handes.
13 Escolhe a lã e o linho e com prazer trabalha com as mãos.
14 She is like the shippes of marchants: shee bringeth her foode from afarre.
14 Como os navios mercantes, ela traz de longe as suas provisões.
15 And she riseth, whiles it is yet night: and giueth the portion to her houshold, and the ordinarie to her maides.
15 Antes de clarear o dia ela se levanta, prepara comida para todos os de casa, e dá tarefas as suas servas.
16 She considereth a field, and getteth it: and with the fruite of her handes she planteth a vineyarde.
16 Ela avalia um campo e o compra; com o que ganha planta uma vinha.
17 She girdeth her loynes with strength, and strengtheneth her armes.
17 Entrega-se com vontade ao seu trabalho; seus braços são fortes e vigorosos.
18 She feeleth that her marchandise is good: her candle is not put out by night.
18 Administra bem o seu comércio lucrativo, e a sua lâmpada fica acesa durante a noite.
19 She putteth her handes to the wherue, and her handes handle the spindle.
19 Nas mãos segura o fuso e com os dedos pega a roca.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poore, and putteth foorth her hands to the needie.
20 Acolhe os necessitados e estende as mãos aos pobres.
21 She feareth not the snowe for her familie: for all her familie is clothed with skarlet.
21 Não receia a neve por seus familiares, pois todos eles vestem agasalhos.
22 She maketh her selfe carpets: fine linen and purple is her garment.
22 Faz cobertas para a sua cama; veste-se de linho fino e de púrpura.
23 Her husband is knowen in the gates, when he sitteth with the Elders of the land.
23 Seu marido é respeitado na porta da cidade, onde toma assento entre as autoridades da sua terra.
24 She maketh sheetes, and selleth them, and giueth girdels vnto the marchant.
24 Ela faz vestes de linho e as vende, e fornece cintos aos comerciantes.
25 Strength and honour is her clothing, and in the latter day she shall reioyce.
25 Reveste-se de força e dignidade; sorri diante do futuro.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdome, and the lawe of grace is in her tongue.
26 Fala com sabedoria e ensina com amor.
27 She ouerseeth the wayes of her housholde, and eateth not the bread of ydlenes.
27 Cuida dos negócios de sua casa e não dá lugar à preguiça.
28 Her children rise vp, and call her blessed: her husband also shall prayse her, saying,
28 Seus filhos se levantam e a elogiam; seu marido também a elogia, dizendo:
29 Many daughters haue done vertuously: but thou surmountest them all.
29 "Muitas mulheres são exemplares, mas você a todas supera".
30 Fauour is deceitfull, and beautie is vanitie: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praysed.
30 A beleza é enganosa, e a formosura é passageira; mas a mulher que teme ao Senhor será elogiada.
31 Giue her of the fruite of her hands, and let her owne workes prayse her in the gates.
31 Que ela receba a recompensa merecida, e as suas obras sejam elogiadas à porta da cidade.
