1 My sonne, if thou wilt receiue my wordes, and hide my commandements within thee,
1 Filho, aprenda o que eu lhe ensino e nunca esqueça o que mando você fazer.
2 And cause thine eares to hearken vnto wisdome, and encline thine heart to vnderstanding,
2 Escute os sábios e procure entender o que eles ensinam.
3 (For if thou callest after knowledge, and cryest for vnderstanding:
3 Sim, peça sabedoria e grite pedindo entendimento.
4 If thou seekest her as siluer, and searchest for her as for treasures,
4 Procure essas coisas, como se procurasse prata ou um tesouro escondido.
5 Then shalt thou vnderstand the feare of the Lord, and finde the knowledge of God.
5 Se você fizer isso, saberá o que quer dizer temer o Senhor , e aprenderá a conhecê-lo.
6 For the Lord giueth wisdome, out of his mouth commeth knowledge and vnderstanding.
6 É o Senhor quem dá sabedoria; a sabedoria e o entendimento vêm dele.
7 He preserueth the state of the righteous: he is a shielde to them that walke vprightly,
7 Ele dá ajuda e proteção a quem é direito e honesto.
8 That they may keepe the wayes of iudgement: and he preserueth the way of his Saintes)
8 Deus protege os que tratam os outros com justiça e guarda os que lhe obedecem.
9 Then shalt thou vnderstand righteousnes, and iudgement, and equitie, and euery good path.
9 Se você me ouvir, entenderá o que é direito, justo e honesto e saberá o que deve fazer.
10 When wisdome entreth into thine heart, and knowledge deliteth thy soule,
10 Você se tornará sábio, e a sua sabedoria lhe dará prazer.
11 Then shall counsell preserue thee, and vnderstanding shall keepe thee,
11 O seu entendimento e a sua sabedoria o protegerão
12 And deliuer thee from the euill way, and from the man that speaketh froward things,
12 e o livrarão de fazer o mal. Assim, você ficará longe das pessoas que vivem dizendo mentiras —
13 And from them that leaue the wayes of righteousnes to walke in the wayes of darkenes:
13 pessoas que abandonaram uma vida direita para viver na escuridão do pecado;
14 Which reioyce in doing euill, and delite in the frowardnesse of the wicked,
14 pessoas que têm prazer em fazer o mal e se alegram quando o mal é praticado;
15 Whose wayes are crooked and they are lewde in their paths.
15 pessoas desonestas, em quem não se pode confiar.
16 And it shall deliuer thee from the strange woman, euen from the stranger, which flattereth with her wordes.
16 Então você será capaz de evitar a mulher imoral que tentar conquistá-lo com palavras sedutoras —
17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the couenant of her God.
17 a mulher que esquece os votos sagrados do casamento e é infiel ao seu marido.
18 Surely her house tendeth to death, and her paths vnto the dead.
18 Se você for à casa dela, estará seguindo o caminho da morte; quem vai lá está perto do mundo dos mortos .
19 All they that goe vnto her, returne not againe, neither take they holde of the wayes of life.
19 O homem que visita essa mulher não consegue voltar para a estrada da vida.
20 Therefore walke thou in the way of good men, and keepe the wayes of the righteous.
20 Portanto, siga o exemplo dos bons e viva uma vida correta.
21 For the iust shall dwell in the land, and the vpright men shall remaine in it.
21 Os homens direitos, de caráter, viverão nesta nossa terra.
22 But the wicked shalbe cut off from ye earth, and the transgressours shalbe rooted out of it.
22 Mas Deus varrerá dela os maus e arrancará os pecadores como se arrancam plantas do chão.
