1 A soft answere putteth away wrath: but grieuous wordes stirre vp anger.
1 Uma resposta branda aplaca o furor, uma palavra dura excita a cólera.
2 The tongue of the wise vseth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fooles babbleth out foolishnesse.
2 A língua dos sábios ornamenta a ciência, a boca dos imbecis transborda loucura.
3 The eyes of the Lord in euery place beholde the euill and the good.
3 Em todo o lugar estão os olhos do Senhor, observando os maus e os bons.
4 A wholesome tongue is as a tree of life: but the frowardnes therof is the breaking of ye minde.
4 A língua sã é uma árvore de vida; a língua perversa corta o coração.
5 A foole despiseth his fathers instruction: but he that regardeth correction, is prudent.
5 O néscio desdenha a instrução de seu pai, mas o que atende à repreensão torna-se sábio.
6 The house of the righteous hath much treasure: but in the reuenues of the wicked is trouble.
6 Na casa do justo há riqueza abundante, mas perturbação nos frutos dos maus.
7 The lippes of the wise doe spread abroade knowledge: but ye heart of the foolish doth not so.
7 Os lábios do sábio destilam saber, e não assim é o coração dos insensatos.
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the righteous is acceptable vnto him.
8 Os sacrifícios dos pérfidos são abominação para o Senhor, a oração dos homens retos lhe é agradável.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination vnto the Lord: but he loueth him that followeth righteousnes.
9 O Senhor abomina o caminho do mau, mas ama o que se prende à justiça.
10 Instruction is euill to him that forsaketh the way, and he that hateth correction, shall die.
10 Severa é a correção para o que se afasta do caminho, e o que aborrece a repreensão perecerá.
11 Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more the hearts of the sonnes of men?
11 A habitação dos mortos e o abismo estão abertos diante do Senhor; quanto mais os corações dos filhos dos homens!
12 A scorner loueth not him that rebuketh him, neither will he goe vnto the wise.
12 O zombador não gosta de quem o repreende, nem vai em busca dos sábios.
13 A ioyfull heart maketh a chearefull countenance: but by the sorow of the heart the minde is heauie.
13 O coração contente alegra o semblante, o coração triste deprime o espírito.
14 The heart of him that hath vnderstanding, seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of the foole is fedde with foolishnes.
14 O coração do inteligente procura a ciência; a boca dos tolos sacia-se de loucuras.
15 All the dayes of the afflicted are euill: but a good conscience is a continuall feast.
15 Para o aflito todos os dias são maus; para um coração contente, são um perpétuo festim.
16 Better is a litle with the feare of the Lord, then great treasure, and trouble therewith.
16 Vale mais o pouco com o temor do Senhor que um grande tesouro com a inquietação.
17 Better is a dinner of greene herbes where loue is, then a stalled oxe and hatred therewith.
17 Mais vale um prato de legume com amizade que um boi cevado com ódio.
18 An angrie man stirreth vp strife: but hee that is slowe to wrath, appeaseth strife.
18 O homem iracundo excita questões, mas o paciente apazigua as disputas.
19 The way of a slouthfull man is as an hedge of thornes: but the way of the righteous is plaine.
19 O caminho do preguiçoso é como uma sebe de espinhos, o caminho dos corretos é sem tropeço.
20 A wise sonne reioyceth the father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
20 O filho sábio alegra seu pai; o insensato despreza sua mãe.
21 Foolishnes is ioy to him that is destitute of vnderstanding: but a man of vnderstanding walketh vprightly.
21 A loucura diverte o insensato, mas o homem inteligente segue o caminho reto.
22 Without cousel thoughts come to nought: but in the multitude of counsellers there is stedfastnesse.
22 Os projetos malogram por falta de deliberação; conseguem bom êxito com muitos conselheiros.
23 A ioy commeth to a man by the answere of his mouth: and how good is a word in due season?
23 Saber dar uma resposta é fonte de alegria; como é agradável uma palavra oportuna!
24 The way of life is on high to the prudent, to auoyde from hell beneath.
24 O sábio escala o caminho da vida, para evitar a descida à morada dos mortos.
25 The Lord will destroye the house of the proude men: but hee will stablish the borders of the widowe.
25 O Senhor destrói a casa dos soberbos, mas firma os limites da viúva.
26 The thoughts of ye wicked are abomination to the Lord: but the pure haue pleasant wordes.
26 Os projetos dos pérfidos são abomináveis ao Senhor, mas as palavras benevolentes são puras.
27 He that is greedie of gaine, troubleth his owne house: but he that hateth giftes, shall liue.
27 O homem cobiçoso perturba a sua casa, aquele que odeia os subornos viverá.
28 The heart of the righteous studieth to answere: but the wicked mans mouth babbleth euil thinges.
28 O coração do justo estuda a sua resposta; a boca dos maus, porém, vomita o mal.
29 The Lord is farre off from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
29 O Senhor está longe dos maus, mas atende à oração dos justos.
30 The light of the eyes reioyceth the heart, and a good name maketh the bones fat.
30 O brilho dos olhos alegra o coração; uma boa notícia fortifica os ossos.
31 The eare that hearkeneth to the correction of life, shall lodge among the wise.
31 Quem der atenção às repreensões salutares habitará entre os sábios.
32 Hee that refuseth instruction, despiseth his owne soule: but he that obeyeth correction, getteth vnderstanding.
32 O que rejeita a correção faz pouco caso de sua vida; quem ouve a repreensão adquire sabedoria.
33 The feare of the Lord is the instruction of wisdome: and before honour, goeth humilitie.
33 O temor do Senhor é uma escola de sabedoria. A humildade precede a glória.
