1 Wilt thou hunt the pray for the lyon? or fill the appetite of the lyons whelpes,
1 “Você sabe o tempo em que as cabras-monteses têm os filhos ou cuidou das corças quando dão suas crias?
2 When they couch in their places, and remaine in the couert to lye in waite?
2 Pode contar os meses que cumprem? Ou sabe o tempo do seu parto?
3 Who prepareth for the rauen his meate, when his birdes crie vnto God, wandering for lacke of meate?
3 Elas se encurvam para terem seus filhos, e lançam de si as suas dores.
4 Knowest thou the time when the wilde goates bring foorth yong? or doest thou marke when the hindes doe calue?
4 Seus filhos se tornam robustos, crescem no campo aberto, saem e nunca mais voltam para elas.
5 Canst thou nomber the moneths that they fulfill? or knowest thou the time when they bring foorth?
5 Quem pôs em liberdade o jumento selvagem? Quem soltou as suas cordas?
6 They bow them selues: they bruise their yong and cast out their sorowes.
6 Eu lhe dei o deserto por casa e a terra salgada por morada.
7 Yet their yong waxe fatte, and growe vp with corne: they goe foorth and returne not vnto them.
7 Ele se ri do tumulto da cidade, não ouve os gritos do guia.
8 Who hath set the wilde asse at libertie? or who hath loosed the bondes of the wilde asse?
8 Os montes são o lugar do seu pasto, e anda à procura de tudo o que está verde.
9 It is I which haue made the wildernesse his house, and the salt places his dwellings.
9 Será que o boi selvagem aceitará trabalhar para você? Será que ele passará a noite junto da sua manjedoura?
10 He derideth the multitude of the citie: he heareth not the crie of the driuer.
10 Por acaso você consegue prendê-lo ao arado com cordas? Ou irá ele atrás de você para desfazer os torrões nos campos do vale?
11 He seeketh out the mountaine for his pasture, and searcheth after euery greene thing.
11 Você vai confiar nele, por causa da grande força que ele tem, ou deixará o seu trabalho por conta dele?
12 Will the vnicorne serue thee? or will he tary by thy cribbe?
12 Você acredita que ele trará para casa o que você semeou e o recolherá na sua eira?”
13 Canst thou binde the vnicorne with his band to labour in the furrowe? or will he plowe the valleyes after thee?
13 “A avestruz bate alegre as asas, como se tivesse asas e plumagem de cegonha.
14 Wilt thou trust in him, because his strength is great, and cast off thy labour vnto him?
14 Ela põe os seus ovos no chão e deixa que sejam chocados na areia,
15 Wilt thou beleeue him, that he will bring home thy seede, and gather it vnto thy barne?
15 e se esquece de que algum pé os pode esmagar ou de que os animais do campo podem pisá-los.
16 Hast thou giuen the pleasant wings vnto the peacockes? or winges and feathers vnto the ostriche?
16 Trata com dureza os seus filhos, como se não fossem seus. Embora seja em vão o seu trabalho, ela está tranquila,
17 Which leaueth his egges in the earth, and maketh them hote in the dust,
17 porque Deus lhe negou sabedoria e não lhe deu entendimento.
18 And forgetteth that the foote might scatter the, or that the wild beast might breake the.
18 Mas, quando de um salto se levanta para correr, ri do cavalo e do cavaleiro.”
19 He sheweth himselfe cruell vnto his yong ones, as they were not his, and is without feare, as if he trauailed in vaine.
19 “Por acaso foi você quem deu força ao cavalo ou revestiu o seu pescoço de crinas?
20 For God had depriued him of wisedom, and hath giuen him no part of vnderstanding.
20 É você quem o faz pular como gafanhoto? Terrível é o fogoso respirar das suas ventas.
21 When time is, he mounteth on hie: he mocketh the horse and his rider.
21 Escarva no vale, satisfeito com a sua força, e sai ao encontro dos inimigos.
22 Hast thou giuen the horse strength? or couered his necke with neying?
22 Zomba do medo e não se espanta; não recua por causa da espada.
23 Hast thou made him afraid as the grashopper? his strong neying is fearefull.
23 Sobre ele balança a aljava, cintila a lança e o dardo.
24 He diggeth in the valley, and reioyceth in his strength: he goeth foorth to meete the harnest man.
24 Com ímpeto e fúria vai engolindo as distâncias e não se contém ao som do clarim.
25 He mocketh at feare, and is not afraid, and turneth not backe from the sworde,
25 A cada toque do clarim ele diz: ‘Avante!’ Cheira de longe a batalha, o grito dos comandantes e o alarido de guerra.”
26 Though the quiuer rattle against him, the glittering speare and the shield.
26 “Será que é pela inteligência que você tem que o falcão voa, estendendo as suas asas para o Sul?
27 He swalloweth the ground for fearcenes and rage, and he beleeueth not that it is the noise of the trumpet.
27 Ou é por uma ordem sua que a águia sobe e faz o seu ninho lá no alto?
28 He sayth among the trumpets, Ha, ha: hee smellleth the battell afarre off, and the noyse of the captaines, and the shouting.
28 Ela mora no penhasco onde faz a sua morada, no alto do penhasco, em lugar seguro.
29 Shall the hauke flie by thy wisedome, stretching out his wings toward the South?
29 Dali, descobre a presa; seus olhos a avistam de longe.
30 Doeth the eagle mount vp at thy commandement, or make his nest on hie?
30 Seus filhotes chupam sangue; onde há mortos, ali ela está.”
31 Shee abideth and remaineth in the rocke, euen vpon the toppe of the rocke, and the tower.

32 From thence she spieth for meate, and her eyes beholde afarre off.

33 His young ones also sucke vp blood: and where the slaine are, there is she.

34 Moreouer ye Lord spake vnto Iob, and said,

35 Is this to learne to striue with the Almightie? he that reprooueth God, let him answere to it.

36 Then Iob answered the Lord, saying,

37 Beholde, I am vile: what shall I answere thee? I will lay mine hand vpon my mouth.

38 Once haue I spoken, but I will answere no more, yea twise, but I will proceede no further.
