1 Moreouer Elihu answered, and saide,
1 Respondeu mais Eliú e disse:
2 Heare my wordes, ye wise men, and hearken vnto me, ye that haue knowledge.
2 Ouvi vós, sábios, as minhas razões; e vós, instruídos, inclinai os ouvidos para mim.
3 For the eare tryeth the words, as the mouth tasteth meate.
3 Porque o ouvido prova as palavras como o paladar prova a comida.
4 Let vs seeke iudgement among vs, and let vs knowe among our selues what is good.
4 O que é direito escolhamos para nós; e conheçamos entre nós o que é bom.
5 For Iob hath saide, I am righteous, and God hath taken away my iudgement.
5 Porque Jó disse: Sou justo, e Deus tirou o meu direito.
6 Should I lye in my right? my wound of the arrowe is grieuous without my sinne.
6 Apesar do meu direito, sou considerado mentiroso; a minha ferida é incurável, embora eu esteja sem transgressão.
7 What man is like Iob, that drinketh scornfulnesse like water?
7 Que homem há como Jó, que bebe a zombaria como água?
8 Which goeth in the companie of them that worke iniquitie, and walketh with wicked men?
8 E caminha em companhia dos que praticam a iniquidade, e anda com homens ímpios?
9 For he hath saide, It profiteth a man nothing that he should walke with God.
9 Porque disse: De nada aproveita ao homem o comprazer-se em Deus.
10 Therefore hearken vnto me, ye men of wisedome, God forbid that wickednesse should be in God, and iniquitie in the Almightie.
10 Pelo que vós, homens de entendimento, escutai-me: longe de Deus a impiedade, e do Todo-Poderoso, a perversidade!
11 For he will render vnto man according to his worke, and cause euery one to finde according to his way.
11 Porque, segundo a obra do homem, ele lhe paga; e faz que cada um ache segundo o seu caminho.
12 And certainely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almightie peruert iudgement.
12 Também, na verdade, Deus não procede impiamente; nem o Todo-Poderoso perverte o juízo.
13 Whome hath he appointed ouer the earth beside him selfe? or who hath placed the whole worlde?
13 Quem lhe entregou o governo da terra? E quem dispôs a todo o mundo?
14 If he set his heart vpon man, and gather vnto him selfe his spirit and his breath,
14 Se ele pusesse o seu coração contra o homem, e recolhesse para si o seu espírito e o seu fôlego,
15 All flesh shall perish together, and man shall returne vnto dust.
15 toda a carne juntamente expiraria, e o homem voltaria para o pó.
16 And if thou hast vnderstanding, heare this and hearken to the voyce of my wordes.
16 Se, pois, há em ti entendimento, ouve isto; inclina os ouvidos à voz do meu discurso.
17 Shal he that hateth iudgement, gouerne? and wilt thou iudge him wicked that is most iust?
17 Porventura, o que aborrecesse o direito governaria? E quererás tu condenar aquele que é justo e poderoso?
18 Wilt thou say vnto a King, Thou art wicked? or to princes, Ye are vngodly?
18 Ou dir-se-á a um rei: Oh! Belial? Ou, aos príncipes: Oh! Ímpios?
19 How much lesse to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, and regardeth not the rich, more then the poore? for they be all the worke of his handes.
19 Quanto menos àquele que não faz acepção da pessoa de príncipes, nem estima o rico mais do que o pobre; porque todos são obra de suas mãos.
20 They shall die suddenly, and the people shalbe troubled at midnight, and they shall passe foorth and take away the mightie without hand.
20 Eles, num momento, morrem; e, até à meia-noite, os povos são perturbados e passam, e os poderosos são tomados sem mão.
21 For his eyes are vpon the wayes of man, and he seeth all his goings.
21 Porque os olhos de Deus estão sobre os caminhos de cada um, e ele vê todos os seus passos.
22 There is no darkenesse nor shadowe of death, that the workers of iniquitie might be hid therein.
22 Não há trevas nem sombra de morte onde se escondam os que praticam a iniquidade.
23 For he will not lay on man so much, that he should enter into iudgement with God.
23 Porque não precisa considerar muito no homem para o fazer ir a juízo diante de Deus.
24 He shall breake the mightie without seeking, and shall set vp other in their stead.
24 Ele quebranta os fortes, sem que se possa inquirir, e põe outros em seu lugar.
25 Therefore shall he declare their works: he shall turne the night, and they shalbe destroyed.
25 Ele conhece, pois, as suas obras; de noite, os transtorna, e ficam moídos.
26 He striketh them as wicked men in the places of the seers,
26 Ele bate-lhes como ímpios que são à vista de quem os contempla;
27 Because they haue turned backe from him, and would not consider all his wayes:
27 porquanto se desviaram dele, e não compreenderam nenhum de seus caminhos,
28 So that they haue caused the voyce of the poore to come vnto him, and he hath heard the cry of the afflicted.
28 para fazer que o clamor do pobre subisse até ele, e que ouvisse o clamor dos aflitos.
29 And when he giueth quietnesse, who can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who can beholde him, whether it be vpon nations, or vpon a man onely?
29 Se ele aquietar, quem, então, inquietará? Se encobrir o rosto, quem, então, o poderá contemplar, seja para com um povo, seja para com um homem só?
30 Because the hypocrite doeth reigne, and because the people are snared.
30 Para que o homem hipócrita nunca mais reine, e não haja laços no povo.
31 Surely it appertaineth vnto God to say, I haue pardoned, I will not destroy.
31 Na verdade, quem disse a Deus: Sofri, não pecarei mais;
32 But if I see not, teach thou me: if I haue done wickedly, I will doe no more.
32 o que não vejo, ensina-mo tu; se fiz alguma maldade, nunca mais a hei de fazer?
33 Wil he performe the thing through thee? for thou hast reproued it, because that thou hast chosen, and not I. now speake what thou knowest.
33 Virá de ti como há de ser a recompensa, para que tu a desprezes? Faze tu, pois, e não eu, a escolha; que é, logo, o que sabes? Fala!
34 Let men of vnderstanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken vnto me.
34 Os homens de entendimento dirão comigo, e o varão sábio, que me ouvir:
35 Iob hath not spoken of knowledge, neyther were his wordes according to wisedome.
35 Jó falou sem ciência; e às suas palavras falta prudência.
36 I desire that Iob may be tryed, vnto the ende touching the answeres for wicked men.
36 Pai meu! Provado seja Jó até ao fim, pelas suas respostas próprias de homens malignos.
37 For he addeth rebellion vnto his sinne: he clappeth his handes among vs, and multiplieth his wordes against God.
37 Porque ao seu pecado acrescenta a transgressão; entre nós bate as palmas e multiplica contra Deus as suas razões.
