1 “For the leader of the music. A psalm of David.” O LORD! thou hast searched me and known me!
1 Senhor , tu me sondas e me conheces.
2 Thou knowest my sitting-down and my rising-up; Thou understandest my thoughts from afar!
2 Sabes quando me assento e quando me levanto; de longe penetras os meus pensamentos.
3 Thou seest my path and my lying-down, And art acquainted with all my ways!
3 Esquadrinhas o meu andar e o meu deitar e conheces todos os meus caminhos.
4 For before the word is upon my tongue, Behold, O LORD! thou knowest it altogether!
4 Ainda a palavra me não chegou à língua, e tu,
5 Thou besettest me behind and before, And layest thine hand upon me!
5 Tu me cercas por trás e por diante e sobre mim pões a mão.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain to it!
6 Tal conhecimento é maravilhoso demais para mim: é sobremodo elevado, não o posso atingir.
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit, And whither shall I flee from thy presence?
7 Para onde me ausentarei do teu Espírito? Para onde fugirei da tua face?
8 If I ascend into heaven, thou art there! If I make my bed in the underworld, behold, thou art there!
8 Se subo aos céus, lá estás; se faço a minha cama no mais profundo abismo, lá estás também;
9 If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the remotest parts of the sea,
9 se tomo as asas da alvorada e me detenho nos confins dos mares,
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, And thy right hand shall hold me!
10 ainda lá me haverá de guiar a tua mão, e a tua destra me susterá.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me;” Even the night shall be light about me.
11 Se eu digo: as trevas, com efeito, me encobrirão, e a luz ao redor de mim se fará noite,
12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee, But the night shineth as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to thee!
12 até as próprias trevas não te serão escuras: as trevas e a luz são a mesma coisa.
13 For thou didst form my reins; Thou didst weave me in my mother's womb.
13 Pois tu formaste o meu interior, tu me teceste no seio de minha mãe.
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvellous are thy works, And this my soul knoweth full well!
14 Graças te dou, visto que por modo assombrosamente maravilhoso me formaste; as tuas obras são admiráveis, e a minha alma o sabe muito bem;
15 My frame was not hidden from thee, When I was made in secret. When I was curiously wrought in the lower parts of the earth.
15 os meus ossos não te foram encobertos, quando no oculto fui formado e entretecido como nas profundezas da terra.
16 Thine eyes did see my substance, while yet unformed, And in thy book was every thing written; My days were appointed before one of them existed.
16 Os teus olhos me viram a substância ainda informe, e no teu livro foram escritos todos os meus dias, cada um deles escrito e determinado, quando nem um deles havia ainda.
17 How precious to me are thy thoughts, O God! How great is the sum of them!
17 Que preciosos para mim, ó Deus, são os teus pensamentos! E como é grande a soma deles!
18 If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand: When I awake, I am still with thee!
18 Se os contasse, excedem os grãos de areia; contaria, contaria, sem jamais chegar ao fim.
19 O that thou wouldst slay the wicked, O God! Ye men of blood, depart from me!
19 Tomara, ó Deus, desses cabo do perverso; apartai-vos, pois, de mim, homens de sangue.
20 For they speak against thee wickedly; Thine enemies utter thy name for falsehood.
20 Eles se rebelam insidiosamente contra ti e como teus inimigos falam malícia.
21 Do I not hate them that hate thee, O LORD? Do I not abhor them that rise up against thee?
21 Não aborreço eu, Senhor , os que te aborrecem? E não abomino os que contra ti se levantam?
22 Yea, I hate them with perfect hatred; I count them mine enemies.
22 Aborreço-os com ódio consumado; para mim são inimigos de fato.
23 Search me, O God! and know my heart; Try me, and know my thoughts;
23 Sonda-me, ó Deus, e conhece o meu coração, prova-me e conhece os meus pensamentos;
24 And see if the way of trouble be within me, And lead me in the way everlasting!
24 vê se há em mim algum caminho mau e guia-me pelo caminho eterno.
