1 Now it came to pass in the seventh|strong="H7637" month|strong="H2320", that Ishmael|strong="H3458" the son|strong="H1121" of Nethaniah|strong="H5418" the son|strong="H1121" of Elishama|strong="H0476", of the seed|strong="H2233" royal|strong="H4410", and the princes|strong="H7227" of the king|strong="H4428", even ten|strong="H6235" men|strong="H0582" with him, came|strong="H0935" unto Gedaliah|strong="H1436" the son|strong="H1121" of Ahikam|strong="H0296" to Mizpah|strong="H4709"; and there they did eat|strong="H0398" bread|strong="H3899" together|strong="H3162" in Mizpah|strong="H4708".
1 Em outubro daquele ano, Ismael, filho de Netanias e neto de Elisama, que era da família real e que havia sido um alto oficial do rei, foi a Mispá com dez homens para se encontrar com Gedalias, filho de Aicam e neto de Safã. Enquanto faziam uma refeição juntos,

2 Ismael e os dez homens se levantaram de um salto, puxaram suas espadas e mataram Gedalias, que o rei da Babilônia havia nomeado governador.
3 Ishmael|strong="H3458" also slew|strong="H5221" all the Jews|strong="H3064" that were with him, even with Gedaliah|strong="H1436", at Mizpah|strong="H4709", and the Chaldeans|strong="H3778" that were found|strong="H4672" there, and the men|strong="H0582" of war|strong="H4421".

7 Assim que todos entraram na cidade, Ismael e os homens que o acompanhavam mataram setenta deles e jogaram os corpos numa cisterna.
8 But ten|strong="H6235" men|strong="H0582" were found|strong="H4672" among them that said|strong="H0559" unto Ishmael|strong="H3458", Slay|strong="H4191" us not: for we have|strong="H3426" treasures|strong="H4301" in the field|strong="H7704", of wheat|strong="H2406", and of barley|strong="H8184", and of oil|strong="H8081", and of honey|strong="H1706". So he forbare|strong="H2308", and slew|strong="H4191" them not among|strong="H8432" their brethren|strong="H0251".
8 Os outros dez sobreviveram, pois haviam convencido Ismael a soltá-los ao prometer lhes trazer os suprimentos de trigo, cevada, azeite e mel que haviam escondido.

10 Então Ismael prendeu as filhas do rei e outras pessoas que Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, havia deixado em Mispá aos cuidados de Gedalias. Ismael partiu para a terra de Amom levando os prisioneiros.
11 But when Johanan|strong="H3110" the son|strong="H1121" of Kareah|strong="H7143", and all the captains|strong="H8269" of the forces|strong="H2428" that were with him, heard|strong="H8085" of all the evil|strong="H7451" that Ishmael|strong="H3458" the son|strong="H1121" of Nethaniah|strong="H5418" had done|strong="H6213",
11 Quando Joanã, filho de Careá, e os outros comandantes que o acompanhavam souberam dos crimes de Ismael,
12 Then they took|strong="H3947" all the men|strong="H0582", and went|strong="H3212" to fight|strong="H3898" with Ishmael|strong="H3458" the son|strong="H1121" of Nethaniah|strong="H5418", and found|strong="H4672" him by the great|strong="H7227" waters|strong="H4325" that are in Gibeon|strong="H1391".

14 Todos os prisioneiros de Mispá escaparam e começaram a ajudar Joanã.
15 But Ishmael|strong="H3458" the son|strong="H1121" of Nethaniah|strong="H5418" escaped|strong="H4422" from|strong="H6440" Johanan|strong="H3110" with eight|strong="H8083" men|strong="H0582", and went|strong="H3212" to the Ammonites|strong="H1121".
15 Enquanto isso, Ismael e oito dos homens que estavam com ele escaparam de Joanã e foram para a terra de Amom.
16 Then took|strong="H3947" Johanan|strong="H3110" the son|strong="H1121" of Kareah|strong="H7143", and all the captains|strong="H8269" of the forces|strong="H2428" that were with him, all the remnant|strong="H7611" of the people|strong="H5971" whom he had recovered|strong="H7725" from Ishmael|strong="H3458" the son|strong="H1121" of Nethaniah|strong="H5418", from Mizpah|strong="H4709", after|strong="H0310" that he had slain|strong="H5221" Gedaliah|strong="H1436" the son|strong="H1121" of Ahikam|strong="H0296", even mighty|strong="H1397" men|strong="H0582" of war|strong="H4421", and the women|strong="H0802", and the children|strong="H2945", and the eunuchs|strong="H5631", whom he had brought again|strong="H7725" from Gibeon|strong="H1391":
16 Então Joanã, filho de Careá, e os outros comandantes levaram todo o povo que tinham resgatado em Gibeom: os soldados, as mulheres, as crianças e os oficiais do palácio que Ismael havia capturado em Mispá depois de matar Gedalias.
17 And they departed|strong="H3212", and dwelt in|strong="H3427" the habitation|strong="H1628" of Chimham|strong="H3643", which is by|strong="H0681" Beth-lehem|strong="H1035", to go|strong="H3212" to enter|strong="H0935" into Egypt|strong="H4714",
17 Foram todos para o povoado de Gerute-Quimã, perto de Belém, de onde planejavam fugir para o Egito.
18 Because|strong="H6440" of the Chaldeans|strong="H3778": for they were afraid|strong="H3372" of them, because Ishmael|strong="H3458" the son|strong="H1121" of Nethaniah|strong="H5418" had slain|strong="H5221" Gedaliah|strong="H1436" the son|strong="H1121" of Ahikam|strong="H0296", whom the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" made governor|strong="H6485" in the land|strong="H0776".
18 Tinham medo daquilo que os babilônios fariam quando soubessem que Ismael havia assassinado Gedalias, o governador nomeado pelo rei da Babilônia.
