1 To the Overseer. -- `On the Lilies,` by David. Save me, O God, for come have waters unto the soul.
1 Salva-me, ó Deus, porque as águas me sobem até a alma.
2 I have sunk in deep mire, And there is no standing, I have come into the depths of the waters, And a flood hath overflown me.
2 Estou atolado num profundo lamaçal, que não dá pé. Entrei em águas profundas, e estou sendo arrastado pela correnteza.
3 I have been wearied with my calling, Burnt hath been my throat, Consumed have been mine eyes, waiting for my God.
3 Estou cansado de clamar, e a minha garganta secou; os meus olhos esmorecem de tanto esperar por meu Deus.
4 Those hating me without cause Have been more than the hairs of my head, Mighty have been my destroyers, My lying enemies, That which I took not away -- I bring back.
4 Os que, sem razão, me odeiam são mais numerosos do que os cabelos da minha cabeça; são poderosos os que querem me destruir, os que com falsos motivos são meus inimigos; por isso, tenho de restituir o que não roubei.
5 O God, Thou -- Thou hast known Concerning my overturn, And my desolations from Thee have not been hid.
5 Tu, ó Deus, bem conheces a minha insensatez, e as minhas culpas não te são ocultas.
6 Let not those waiting on Thee be ashamed because of me, O Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, Let not those seeking Thee Blush because of me, O God of Israel.
6 Não sejam envergonhados por minha causa os que esperam em ti, ó nem por minha causa sofram vexame os que te buscam, ó Deus de Israel.
7 For because of Thee I have borne reproach, Shame hath covered my face.
7 Pois tenho suportado afrontas por amor de ti, e o meu rosto se cobre de vergonha.
8 A stranger I have been to my brother, And a foreigner to sons of my mother.
8 Tornei-me um estranho para os meus irmãos e um desconhecido para os filhos da minha mãe.
9 For zeal for Thy house hath consumed me, And the reproaches of Thy reproachers Have fallen upon me.
9 Pois o zelo da tua casa me consumiu, e as ofensas dos que te insultam caem sobre mim.
10 And I weep in the fasting of my soul, And it is for a reproach to me.
10 Chorei, jejuei, mas até isto se tornou motivo de deboche para mim.
11 And I make my clothing sackcloth, And I am to them for a simile.
11 Pus um pano de saco por roupa e me tornei motivo de provérbio para eles.
12 Those sitting at the gate meditate concerning me, And those drinking strong drink, Play on instruments.
12 Os que se assentam junto ao portão da cidade falam de mim, e sou motivo para cantigas de bêbados.
13 And I -- my prayer [is] to Thee, O Jehovah, A time of good pleasure, O God, In the abundance of Thy kindness, Answer me in the truth of Thy salvation.
13 Quanto a mim, porém, Senhor , faço a ti, em tempo favorável, a minha oração. Responde-me, ó Deus, pela riqueza da tua graça. Pela tua fidelidade em socorrer,
14 Deliver me from the mire, and let me not sink, Let me be delivered from those hating me, And from deep places of waters.
14 livra-me do lamaçal, para que eu não me afunde; que eu seja salvo dos que me odeiam e das profundezas das águas.
15 Let not a flood of waters overflow me, Nor let the deep swallow me up, Nor let the pit shut her mouth upon me.
15 Não deixes que a corrente das águas me arraste, nem que as profundezas do abismo me engulam, nem que se feche sobre mim a boca do poço.
16 Answer me, O Jehovah, for good [is] Thy kindness, According to the abundance Of Thy mercies turn Thou unto me,
16 Responde-me, Senhor , pois compassiva é a tua graça; volta-te para mim segundo a riqueza das tuas misericórdias.
17 And hide not Thy face from Thy servant, For I am in distress -- haste, answer me.
17 Não escondas o rosto ao teu servo, pois estou angustiado; responde-me depressa.
18 Be near unto my soul -- redeem it, Because of mine enemies ransom me.
18 Aproxima-te de minha alma e redime-a; resgata-me por causa dos meus inimigos.
19 Thou -- Thou hast known my reproach, And my shame, and my blushing, Before Thee [are] all mine adversaries.
19 Tu conheces a minha afronta, a minha vergonha e o meu vexame; todos os meus adversários estão à tua vista.
20 Reproach hath broken my heart, and I am sick, And I look for a bemoaner, and there is none, And for comforters, and I have found none.
20 As afrontas partiram o meu coração, e desfaleci. Esperei por piedade, mas foi em vão. Esperei por consoladores, mas não apareceu ninguém.
21 And they give for my food gall, And for my thirst cause me to drink vinegar.
21 Por alimento me deram fel e na minha sede me deram a beber vinagre.
22 Their table before them is for a snare, And for a recompence -- for a trap.
22 Que a mesa deles se torne em laço diante deles, e a prosperidade, em armadilha.
23 Darkened are their eyes from seeing, And their loins continually shake Thou.
23 Que os olhos deles se escureçam, para que não vejam; e faze com que as suas costas não parem de tremer.
24 Pour upon them Thine indignation, And the fierceness of Thine anger doth seize them.
24 Derrama sobre eles a tua indignação, e que o furor da tua ira os alcance.
25 Their tower is desolated, In their tents there is no dweller.
25 Fique deserta a sua morada, e não haja quem habite nas suas tendas.
26 For they have pursued him Thou hast smitten, And recount of the pain of Thy pierced ones.
26 Pois perseguem a quem tu feriste e ficam falando sobre as dores daqueles a quem golpeaste.
27 Give punishment for their iniquity, And they enter not into Thy righteousness.
27 Soma-lhes iniquidade à iniquidade, e que não tenham acesso à tua justiça.
28 They are blotted out of the book of life, And with the righteous are not written.
28 Sejam riscados do Livro dos Vivos e não sejam incluídos na lista dos justos.
29 And I [am] afflicted and pained, Thy salvation, O God, doth set me on high.
29 Quanto a mim, porém, estou sofrendo e aflito; que a tua salvação, ó Deus, me ponha num alto refúgio.
30 I praise the name of God with a song, And I magnify Him with thanksgiving,
30 Louvarei com cânticos o nome de Deus; quero exaltá-lo com ações de graças.
31 And it is better to Jehovah than an ox, A bullock -- horned -- hoofed.
31 Isso será muito mais agradável ao do que um boi ou um novilho com chifres e cascos.
32 The humble have seen -- they rejoice, Ye who seek God -- and your heart liveth.
32 Que os aflitos vejam isso e se alegrem; quanto a vocês que buscam a Deus, que o seu coração se reanime.
33 For Jehovah hearkeneth unto the needy, And His bound ones He hath not despised.
33 Porque o Senhor ouve os necessitados e não despreza os seus prisioneiros.
34 The heavens and earth do praise Him, Seas, and every moving thing in them.
34 Louvem-no os céus e a terra, os mares e tudo o que neles se move.
35 For God doth save Zion, And doth build the cities of Judah, And they have dwelt there, and possess it.
35 Porque Deus salvará Sião e edificará as cidades de Judá; habitarão ali e tomarão posse de Sião.
36 And the seed of His servants inherit it, And those loving His name dwell in it!
36 Também a descendência dos seus servos a herdará, e nela habitarão os que amam o nome de Deus.
