1 Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge; but he who hates correction is brutish.
1 Quem ama a disciplina ama o conhecimento, mas o que aborrece a repreensão é estúpido.
2 The good man obtains favor from Jehovah, but He will condemn a man of wicked devices.
2 O homem de bem alcança o favor do Senhor , mas ao homem de perversos desígnios, ele o condena.
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness, but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
3 O homem não se estabelece pela perversidade, mas a raiz dos justos não será removida.
4 A woman of strength is a crown to her husband, but she who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones.
4 A mulher virtuosa é a coroa do seu marido, mas a que procede vergonhosamente é como podridão nos seus ossos.
5 The thoughts of the righteous are right; the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
5 Os pensamentos do justo são retos, mas os conselhos do perverso, engano.
6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
6 As palavras dos perversos são emboscadas para derramar sangue, mas a boca dos retos livra homens.
7 The wicked are overthrown, and are gone; but the house of the righteous shall stand.
7 Os perversos serão derribados e já não são, mas a casa dos justos permanecerá.
8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom, but he who is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
8 Segundo o seu entendimento, será louvado o homem, mas o perverso de coração será desprezado.
9 Better is one who is despised and has a servant, than he who honors himself but lacks bread.
9 Melhor é o que se estima em pouco e faz o seu trabalho do que o vanglorioso que tem falta de pão.
10 A righteous man understands the soul of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
10 O justo atenta para a vida dos seus animais, mas o coração dos perversos é cruel.
11 He who tills his land shall be satisfied with bread, but he who follows vanities lacks heart.
11 O que lavra a sua terra será farto de pão, mas o que corre atrás de coisas vãs é falto de senso.
12 The wicked desires the net full of evils, but the root of the righteous yields fruit.
12 O perverso quer viver do que caçam os maus, mas a raiz dos justos produz o seu fruto.
13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips, but the just shall come out of trouble.
13 Pela transgressão dos lábios o mau se enlaça, mas o justo sairá da angústia.
14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, and the recompense of a mans hands shall be returned to him.
14 Cada um se farta de bem pelo fruto da sua boca, e o que as mãos do homem fizerem ser-lhe-á retribuído.
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who gives heed to counsel is wise.
15 O caminho do insensato aos seus próprios olhos parece reto, mas o sábio dá ouvidos aos conselhos.
16 A fools anger is known in a day, but the prudent one covers shame.
16 A ira do insensato num instante se conhece, mas o prudente oculta a afronta.
17 He who utters truth declares righteousness, but a false witness, deceit.
17 O que diz a verdade manifesta a justiça, mas a testemunha falsa, a fraude.
18 There are those who speak like the thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise heals.
18 Alguém há cuja tagarelice é como pontas de espada, mas a língua dos sábios é medicina.
19 The lips of truth shall be established forever, but a lying tongue is but for a twinkling moment.
19 O lábio veraz permanece para sempre, mas a língua mentirosa, apenas um momento.
20 Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, but to counselors of peace there is joy.
20 Há fraude no coração dos que maquinam mal, mas alegria têm os que aconselham a paz.
21 No evil shall happen to the just, but the wicked shall be filled with evil.
21 Nenhum agravo sobrevirá ao justo, mas os perversos, o mal os apanhará em cheio.
22 Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah, but those who deal in faithfulness are His delight.
22 Os lábios mentirosos são abomináveis ao Senhor , mas os que agem fielmente são o seu prazer.
23 A prudent man conceals knowledge, but the heart of fools proclaims foolishness.
23 O homem prudente oculta o conhecimento, mas o coração dos insensatos proclama a estultícia.
24 The hand of the diligent shall rule, but the slothful shall be under servitude.
24 A mão diligente dominará, mas a remissa será sujeita a trabalhos forçados.
25 Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.
25 A ansiedade no coração do homem o abate, mas a boa palavra o alegra.
26 The righteous searches out his friends, but the way of the wicked makes him wander.
26 O justo serve de guia para o seu companheiro, mas o caminho dos perversos os faz errar.
27 The slothful does not roast his game taken in hunting, but the substance of a diligent man is precious.
27 O preguiçoso não assará a sua caça, mas o bem precioso do homem é ser ele diligente.
28 In the way of righteousness is life, and in that pathway there is no death.
28 Na vereda da justiça, está a vida, e no caminho da sua carreira não há morte.
