1 Two days later there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there,
1 E no dia terceiro, houve um casamento em Caná da Galileia, e a mãe de Jesus estava lá;
2 and Jesus also was invited and His disciples.
2 e também foram convidados Jesus e seus discípulos para o casamento.
3 Now the wine ran short; whereupon the mother of Jesus said to Him, »They have no wine.«
3 E, tendo acabado o vinho, a mãe de Jesus lhe disse: Eles não têm vinho.
4 »Leave the matter in my hands,« He replied; »the time for me to act has not yet come.«
4 Jesus lhe disse: Mulher, que tenho eu contigo? Ainda não é chegada a minha hora.
5 His mother said to the attendants, »Whatever he tells you to do, do it.«
5 Sua mãe disse aos serviçais: Tudo quanto ele vos disser, fazei-o.
6 Now there were six stone jars standing there (in accordance with the Jewish regulations for purification), each large enough to hold twenty gallons or more.
6 E estavam ali postas seis talhas de pedra, do tipo usado pelos judeus para as purificações, e em cada uma cabiam duas ou três metretas.
7 Jesus said to the attendants, »Fill the jars with water.« And they filled them to the brim.
7 Jesus lhes disse: Enchei de água as talhas. E eles as encheram até a borda.
8 Then He said, »Now, take some out, and carry it to the President of the feast.«
8 E, ele lhes disse: Tirai agora, e levai ao mestre-sala. E eles o levaram.
9 So they carried some to him. And no sooner had the President tasted the water now turned into wine, than –not knowing where it came from, though the attendants who had drawn the water knew– he called to the bridegroom
9 Quando o mestre-sala provou a água tornada em vinho, não sabendo de onde viera, (mas os serviçais que haviam tirado a água o sabiam), o mestre-sala chamou o noivo,
10 and said to him, »It is usual to put on the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then that which is inferior. But you have kept the good wine till now.«
10 e lhe disse: Todo homem , no princípio, apresenta bom vinho, e quando os homens já têm bebido bem, então o que é pior; mas tu guardaste o bom vinho até agora.
11 This, the first of His miracles, Jesus performed at Cana in Galilee, and thus displayed His glorious power; and His disciples believed in Him.
11 Esse começo de milagres fez Jesus em Caná da Galileia, e manifestou a sua glória; e os seus discípulos creram nele.
12 Afterwards He went down to Capernaum–He, and His mother, and His brothers, and His disciples; and they made a short stay there.
12 Depois disto, ele desceu para Cafarnaum, ele, e sua mãe, e seus irmãos, e seus discípulos; e eles não ficaram ali por muitos dias.
13 But the Jewish Passover was approaching, and for this Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
13 E, estando próxima a páscoa dos judeus, Jesus subiu para Jerusalém.
14 And He found in the Temple the dealers in cattle and sheep and in pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there.
14 E encontrou no templo aqueles que vendem bois, ovelhas e pombas, e os cambistas assentados;
15 So He plaited a whip of rushes, and drove all –both sheep and bullocks– out of the Temple. The small coin of the brokers He upset on the ground and overturned their tables.
15 e, tendo feito ele um chicote de pequenas cordas, expulsou todos do templo, e as ovelhas e os bois; e derramou o dinheiro dos cambistas, e derrubou as mesas,
16 And to the pigeon-dealers He said, »Take these things away. Do not turn my Father's house into a market.«
16 e disse aos que vendiam as pombas: Tirai daqui estas coisas; não façais da casa de meu Pai casa de comércio.
17 This recalled to His disciples the words of Scripture, »My zeal for Thy House will consume me.«
17 E lembraram-se os seus discípulos de que está escrito: O zelo da tua casa me devorará.
18 So the Jews asked Him, »What proof of your authority do you exhibit to us, seeing that you do these things?«
18 Então, responderam os judeus, dizendo-lhe: Qual sinal tu nos mostras, vendo que tu fazes estas coisas?
19 »Demolish this Sanctuary,« said Jesus, »and in three days I will rebuild it.«
19 Jesus lhes respondeu, dizendo: Destrua este templo, e em três dias eu o levantarei.
20 »It has taken forty-six years,« replied the Jews, »to build this Sanctuary, and will you rebuild it in three days?«
20 Então, disseram os judeus: Em quarenta e seis anos foi edificado este templo, e tu, em três dias, o levantarás?
21 But He was speaking of the Sanctuary of His body.
21 Mas ele falava do templo de seu corpo.
22 When however He had risen from among the dead, His disciples recollected that He had said this; and they believed the Scripture and the teaching which Jesus had given them.
22 Quando, pois, ele foi ressuscitado dentre os mortos, lembraram-se os seus discípulos de que ele dissera isto; e creram na escritura, e na palavra que Jesus disse.
23 Now when He was in Jerusalem, at the Festival of the Passover, many became believers in Him through watching the miracles He performed.
23 Ora, estando ele em Jerusalém durante a festa da páscoa, muitos creram no seu nome ao ver os milagres que ele fazia.
24 But for His part, Jesus did not trust Himself to them, because He knew them all,
24 Mas o próprio Jesus não se confiava a eles, porque conhecia a todos os homens.
25 and did not need any one's testimony concerning a man, for He of Himself knew what was in the man.
25 E não necessitava de que alguém desse testemunho de homem, porque ele conhecia o que havia no homem.
