1 Then Job answered and said,
1 Então Jó respondeu:
2 How long will you{+} vex my soul, And break me in pieces with words?
2 “Até quando vocês vão me atormentar e me esmagar com as suas palavras?
3 These ten times you{+} have reproached me: You{+} are not ashamed that you{+} deal harshly with me.
3 Já dez vezes vocês me insultaram e não se envergonham de me injuriar.
4 And if indeed I have erred, My error remains with myself.
4 Se eu tivesse realmente cometido algum erro, isso interessaria somente a mim.
5 If indeed you{+} will magnify yourselves against me, And plead against me my reproach;
5 Se vocês querem se engrandecer contra mim e usam a minha vergonha como argumento contra mim,
6 Know now that God has subverted me [in my cause], And has surrounded me with his net.
6 então saibam que Deus foi injusto comigo e me cercou com a sua rede.”
7 Look, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry for help, but there is no justice.
7 “Eis que clamo: ‘Violência!’, mas não sou ouvido; grito: ‘Socorro!’, porém não há justiça.
8 He has walled up my way that I can't pass, And has set darkness in my paths.
8 Deus fechou o meu caminho, e não consigo passar; e nas minhas veredas pôs trevas.
9 He has stripped me of my glory, And taken the crown from my head.
9 Despojou-me da minha honra e tirou a coroa da minha cabeça.
10 He has broken me down on every side, and I am gone; And my hope he has plucked up like a tree.
10 Arruinou-me de todos os lados, e eu me vou; tirou-me a esperança, como se arranca uma árvore.
11 He has also kindled his wrath against me, And he counts me to him as [one of] his adversaries.
11 Acendeu contra mim a sua ira e me trata como um dos seus adversários.
12 His troops come on together, And cast up their way against me, And encamp round about my tent.
12 Juntas vieram as suas tropas; prepararam contra mim o seu caminho e acamparam ao redor da minha tenda.”
13 He has put my brothers far from me, And my acquaintances are wholly estranged from me.
13 “Deus levou os meus irmãos para longe de mim, e os que me conhecem, como estranhos, se afastaram de mim.
14 My kinsfolk have failed, And my familiar friends have forgotten me.
14 Os meus parentes me abandonaram, e os meus conhecidos se esqueceram de mim.
15 Those who dwell in my house, and my female slaves, count me for a stranger; I am an alien in their sight.
15 Os que se abrigam na minha casa e as minhas servas me consideram como um estranho; vim a ser um estrangeiro aos olhos deles.
16 I call to my slave, and he gives me no answer, [Though] I plead to him with my mouth.
16 Chamo o meu servo, e ele não me responde; tenho de suplicar-lhe, eu mesmo.
17 My breath is strange to my wife, And my supplication to the sons of my own mother.
17 O meu hálito é intolerável à minha mulher, e pelo mau cheiro sou repugnante aos meus irmãos.
18 Even young children despise me; If I arise, they speak against me.
18 Até as crianças me desprezam, e, quando tento me levantar, zombam de mim.
19 All my familiar friends are disgusted by me, And they whom I loved are turned against me.
19 Todos os meus amigos íntimos me detestam, e até os que eu amava se voltaram contra mim.
20 My bone sticks to my skin and to my flesh, And I have escaped with the skin of my teeth.
20 Os meus ossos se apegam à minha pele e à minha carne; escapei só com a pele dos meus dentes.
21 Have pity on me, have pity on me, O you{+} my companions; For the hand of God has touched me.
21 Tenham pena de mim, meus amigos, tenham pena de mim, porque a mão de Deus me atingiu.
22 Why do you{+} persecute me as God, And are not satisfied with my flesh?
22 Por que vocês me perseguem como Deus me persegue e não cessam de devorar a minha carne?”
23 Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!
23 “Quem dera fossem agora escritas as minhas palavras! Quem dera fossem gravadas em livro!
24 That with an iron pen and lead They were engraved in the rock forever!
24 Que, com pena de ferro e com chumbo, para sempre fossem esculpidas na rocha!
25 But as for me I know that my Redeemer lives, And at last he will stand up on the earth:
25 Porque eu sei que o meu Redentor vive e por fim se levantará sobre a terra.
26 And after my skin, [even] this [body], is destroyed, Then without my flesh will I see God;
26 Depois, revestido este meu corpo da minha pele, em minha carne verei a Deus.
27 Whom I, even I, will see, on my side, And my eyes will behold, and not as a stranger. My heart is consumed inside me.
27 Eu o verei por mim mesmo, os meus olhos o verão, e não outros; de saudade o meu coração desfalece dentro de mim.”
28 If you{+} say, How we will persecute him! And that the root of the matter is found in me;
28 “Se vocês disserem: ‘Como o perseguiremos?’ E: ‘A causa deste mal se acha nele mesmo’,
29 Be{+} afraid of the sword: For wrath [brings] the punishments of the sword, That you{+} may know there is a judgment.
29 então tenham medo da espada, porque tais acusações merecem o seu furor, para que vocês saibam que há um juízo.”
