1 From Paul, now a prisoner for Christ Jesus, and from Timothy, a fellow follower of the Lord.
1 Eu, Paulo, prisioneiro de Cristo Jesus, escrevo esta carta, junto com nosso irmão Timóteo, a Filemom, nosso amado colaborador,
2 To our dear friend and fellow worker Philemon, to our sister Apphia, to our fellow soldier Archippus; and to the church that meets at Philemon’s house;
2 à irmã Áfia, a Arquipo, nosso companheiro na luta, e à igreja que se reúne em sua casa.
3 may God, our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ bless you and give you peace.
3 Que Deus, nosso Pai, e o Senhor Jesus Cristo lhes deem graça e paz.
4 I always mention you in my prayers and thank God for you,
4 Sempre dou graças a meu Deus por você em minhas orações,
5 because I hear of the love and the faith which you show, not only to the Lord Jesus, but also to all his people;
5 pois ouço com frequência de sua fé no Senhor Jesus e de seu amor por todo o povo santo.
6 and I pray that your participation in the faith may result in action, as you come to a fuller realization of everything that is good and Christlike in us.
6 Oro para que você ponha em prática a comunhão que vem da fé, à medida que entender e experimentar todas as coisas boas que temos em Cristo.
7 I have indeed found great joy and encouragement in your love, knowing, as I do, how the hearts of Christ’s People have been cheered, friend, by you.
7 Seu amor, meu irmão, tem me dado muita alegria e conforto, pois sua bondade tem revigorado o coração do povo santo.
8 And so, though my union with Christ enables me, with all confidence, to dictate the course that you should adopt,
8 Por isso, ainda que pudesse exigir em Cristo que você faça o que é certo,
9 yet the claims of love make me prefer to plead with you — yes, even me, Paul, though I am an ambassador for Christ Jesus and, now a prisoner for him as well.
9 prefiro pedir com base no amor — eu, Paulo, já velho e agora prisioneiro de Cristo Jesus.
10 I plead with you for this child of mine, Onesimus, to whom, in my prison, I have become a father.
10 Suplico que demonstre bondade a meu filho Onésimo. Tornei-me pai dele na fé quando estava aqui na prisão.
11 Once he was of little service to you, but now he has become of great service, not only to you, but to me as well;
11 Onésimo não lhe foi de muita utilidade no passado, mas agora é muito útil para nós dois.
12 and I am sending him back to you with this letter — though it is like tearing out of my heart.
12 Eu o envio de volta a você, e com ele vai meu próprio coração.
13 For my own sake I should like to keep him with me, so that, while I am in prison for the good news, he might attend to my wants on your behalf.
13 Gostaria de mantê-lo aqui comigo enquanto estou preso por anunciar as boas-novas; assim ele me ajudaria em seu lugar.
14 But I do not wish to do anything without your consent, because I want your generosity to be voluntary and not, as it were, compulsory.
14 Mas eu nada quis fazer sem seu consentimento. Meu desejo era que você ajudasse de boa vontade, e não por obrigação.
15 It may be that he was separated from you for an hour, for this reason, so that you might have him back for ever,
15 Ao que parece, você perdeu Onésimo por algum tempo para ganhá-lo de volta para sempre.
16 no longer as a slave, but as something better — a dearly loved friend and follower of the Lord, especially dear to me, and how much more so to you, not only as a person, but as your fellow Christian!
16 Ele já não é um escravo para você. É mais que um escravo: é um irmão amado, especialmente para mim. Agora ele será muito mais importante para você, como pessoa e como irmão no Senhor.
17 If, then, you count me your friend, receive him as you would me.
17 Portanto, se me considera seu companheiro na fé, receba-o como receberia a mim.
18 If he has caused you any loss, or owes you anything, charge it to me.
18 Se ele o prejudicou de alguma forma ou se lhe deve algo, cobre de mim.
19 I, Paul, put my own hand to it — I will repay you myself. I say nothing about your owing me your self.
19 Eu, Paulo, escrevo de próprio punho: Eu pagarei. E não mencionarei que você me deve sua própria vida.
20 Yes, friend, let me gain something from you because of your union with the Lord. Cheer my heart by your Christlike spirit.
20 Sim, meu irmão, faça-me essa gentileza no Senhor. Reanime meu coração em Cristo!
21 Even as I write, I have such confidence in your compliance with my wishes, that I am sure that you will do even more than I am asking.
21 Escrevo esta carta certo de que você fará o que lhe peço, e até mais.
22 Please also get a lodging ready for me, for I hope that I will be given back to you all in answer to your prayers.
22 Por favor, prepare um quarto para mim, pois espero que minhas orações sejam respondidas e eu possa voltar a visitá-lo em breve.
23 Epaphras, who is my fellow prisoner for Christ Jesus, sends you his greeting;
23 Epafras, meu companheiro de prisão em Cristo Jesus, manda lembranças.
24 and Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my fellow workers, send theirs.
24 Marcos, Aristarco, Demas e Lucas, meus colaboradores, também enviam saudações.
25 May the blessing of the Lord Jesus Christ rest on your souls.
