1 From Paul, now a prisoner for Christ Jesus, and from Timothy, a fellow follower of the Lord.
1 Paulo, prisioneiro de Jesus Cristo, e o irmão Timóteo, ao amado Filemom, nosso cooperador,
2 To our dear friend and fellow worker Philemon, to our sister Apphia, to our fellow soldier Archippus; and to the church that meets at Philemon’s house;
2 E à nossa amada Áfia, e a Arquipo, nosso camarada, e à igreja que está em tua casa:
3 may God, our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ bless you and give you peace.
3 Graça a vós e paz da parte de Deus nosso Pai, e do Senhor Jesus Cristo.
4 I always mention you in my prayers and thank God for you,
4 Graças dou ao meu Deus, lembrando-me sempre de ti nas minhas orações;
5 because I hear of the love and the faith which you show, not only to the Lord Jesus, but also to all his people;
5 Ouvindo do teu amor e da fé que tens para com o Senhor Jesus Cristo, e para com todos os santos;
6 and I pray that your participation in the faith may result in action, as you come to a fuller realization of everything that is good and Christlike in us.
6 Para que a comunicação da tua fé seja eficaz no conhecimento de todo o bem que em vós há por Cristo Jesus.
7 I have indeed found great joy and encouragement in your love, knowing, as I do, how the hearts of Christ’s People have been cheered, friend, by you.
7 Porque temos grande gozo e consolação do teu amor, porque por ti, ó irmão, as entranhas dos santos foram recreadas.
8 And so, though my union with Christ enables me, with all confidence, to dictate the course that you should adopt,
8 Por isso, ainda que tenha em Cristo grande confiança para te mandar o que te convém,
9 yet the claims of love make me prefer to plead with you — yes, even me, Paul, though I am an ambassador for Christ Jesus and, now a prisoner for him as well.
9 Todavia peço-te antes por amor, sendo eu tal como sou, Paulo o velho, e também agora prisioneiro de Jesus Cristo.
10 I plead with you for this child of mine, Onesimus, to whom, in my prison, I have become a father.
10 Peço-te por meu filho Onésimo, que gerei nas minhas prisões;
11 Once he was of little service to you, but now he has become of great service, not only to you, but to me as well;
11 O qual noutro tempo te foi inútil, mas agora a ti e a mim muito útil; eu to tornei a enviar.
12 and I am sending him back to you with this letter — though it is like tearing out of my heart.
12 E tu torna a recebê-lo como às minhas entranhas.
13 For my own sake I should like to keep him with me, so that, while I am in prison for the good news, he might attend to my wants on your behalf.
13 Eu bem o quisera conservar comigo, para que por ti me servisse nas prisões do evangelho;
14 But I do not wish to do anything without your consent, because I want your generosity to be voluntary and not, as it were, compulsory.
14 Mas nada quis fazer sem o teu parecer, para que o teu benefício não fosse como por força, mas, voluntário.
15 It may be that he was separated from you for an hour, for this reason, so that you might have him back for ever,
15 Porque bem pode ser que ele se tenha separado de ti por algum tempo, para que o retivesses para sempre,
16 no longer as a slave, but as something better — a dearly loved friend and follower of the Lord, especially dear to me, and how much more so to you, not only as a person, but as your fellow Christian!
16 Não já como servo, antes, mais do que servo, como irmão amado, particularmente de mim, e quanto mais de ti, assim na carne como no Senhor?
17 If, then, you count me your friend, receive him as you would me.
17 Assim, pois, se me tens por companheiro, recebe-o como a mim mesmo.
18 If he has caused you any loss, or owes you anything, charge it to me.
18 E, se te fez algum dano, ou te deve alguma coisa, põe isso à minha conta.
19 I, Paul, put my own hand to it — I will repay you myself. I say nothing about your owing me your self.
19 Eu, Paulo, de minha própria mão o escrevi; eu o pagarei, para te não dizer que ainda mesmo a ti próprio a mim te deves.
20 Yes, friend, let me gain something from you because of your union with the Lord. Cheer my heart by your Christlike spirit.
20 Sim, irmão, eu me regozijarei de ti no Senhor; recreia as minhas entranhas no Senhor.
21 Even as I write, I have such confidence in your compliance with my wishes, that I am sure that you will do even more than I am asking.
21 Escrevi-te confiado na tua obediência, sabendo que ainda farás mais do que digo.
22 Please also get a lodging ready for me, for I hope that I will be given back to you all in answer to your prayers.
22 E juntamente prepara-me também pousada, porque espero que pelas vossas orações vos hei de ser concedido.
23 Epaphras, who is my fellow prisoner for Christ Jesus, sends you his greeting;
23 Saúdam-te Epafras, meu companheiro de prisão por Cristo Jesus,
24 and Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my fellow workers, send theirs.
24 Marcos, Aristarco, Demas e Lucas, meus cooperadores.
25 May the blessing of the Lord Jesus Christ rest on your souls.
25 A graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo seja com o vosso espírito. Amém.
