1 Moreover, Elihu ⌞spoke up⌟ and said,
1 Eliú prosseguiu:
2 “Do you think this is justice when you say, ‘⌞I am right⌟ before God’?
2 "Você acha que isso é justo? Pois você diz: ‘Serei absolvido por Deus’.
3 If you ask what it profits you: ‘How do I benefit ⌞by refraining from my sin⌟?’
3 Contudo, você lhe pergunta: ‘Que vantagem tenho eu, e o que ganho, se não pecar? ’
4 I myself ⌞will give answer to you⌟ and to your friends with you.
4 "Desejo responder-lhe, a você e aos seus amigos que estão com você.
5 “Look at the heavens, and see; and observe the clouds that are higher than you.
5 Olhe para os céus e veja; mire as nuvens, tão elevadas.
6 If you have sinned, what do you accomplish against him? And if your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him?
6 Se você pecar, em que isso o afetará? Se os seus pecados forem muitos, que é que isso lhe fará?
7 If you are righteous, what do you give to him, or what does he receive from your hand?
7 Se você for justo, o que lhe dará? Ou o que ele receberá de sua mão?
8 Your wickedness affects a person like yourself, and your righteousness affects humans.
8 A sua impiedade só afeta aos homens, seus semelhantes, e a sua justiça, aos filhos dos homens.
9 “Because of the multitude of oppressions, they cry out; they cry for help because of the arm of the mighty.
9 "Os homens se lamentam sob fardos de opressão; imploram que os libertem do braço dos poderosos.
10 But no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night,
10 Mas não há quem pergunte: ‘Onde está Deus, o meu Criador, que de noite faz surgirem cânticos,
11 who teaches us more than the animals of the earth and makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens?’
11 que nos ensina mais que aos animais da terra e nos faz mais sábios que as aves dos céus? ’
12 There they cry out, but he does not answer ⌞because of the pride of evildoers⌟.
12 Quando clamam, ele não responde por causa da arrogância dos ímpios.
13 “Surely God does not hear an empty plea, and Shaddai does not regard it.
13 Aliás, Deus não escuta a vã súplica que fazem; o Todo-poderoso não lhe dá atenção.
14 ⌞How much less⌟ when you say that you do not see him, that the case is ⌞before him⌟, and you are waiting for him!
14 Pois muito menos escutará quando você disser que não o vê, que a sua causa está diante dele e que você tem que esperar por ele.
15 But now, because his anger does not punish, and he does not acknowledge the transgression at all,
15 Mais que isso, que a sua ira jamais castiga e que ele não dá a mínima atenção à iniqüidade.
16 ⌞therefore⌟ Job opens his mouth in empty talk— without knowledge he multiplies words.”
16 Assim é que Jó abre a sua boca para dizer palavras vãs; em sua ignorância ele multiplica palavras".
