1 Then these three men ceased from answering Job because he was righteous in his own eyes.
1 Jó estava convencido da sua inocência, e por isso os três amigos desistiram de continuar a discutir com ele.
2 So Elihu the son of Barakel the Buzite, from the clan of Ram, ⌞became angry⌟. ⌞He became angry⌟ at Job because he justified himself rather than God,
2 Acontece que ali estava um homem chamado Eliú, filho de Baraquel e descendente de Buz, do grupo de famílias de Rão. Eliú ficou muito zangado com Jó porque este dizia que era inocente e que Deus era culpado.
3 and ⌞he became angry⌟ at his three friends because they had not found an answer, and they had declared Job guilty.
3 E também ficou zangado com os três amigos porque eles não puderam responder a Jó, dando assim a ideia de que Deus estava errado.
4 Thus Elihu had waited for Job ⌞to speak⌟ because ⌞they were older than he⌟.
4 Eliú esperou para falar no fim, pois os outros eram mais velhos do que ele.
5 When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of the three men, ⌞he became angry⌟.
5 Quando viu que eles não souberam como responder a Jó, Eliú ficou zangado.
6 Then Elihu the son of Barakel the Buzite ⌞spoke up⌟ and said, “⌞I am young⌟, but you are old; therefore I feared and became afraid of explaining my knowledge to you.
6 Então Eliú, filho de Baraquel e descendente de Buz, disse: “Eu sou moço, e vocês são idosos. Foi por isso que não me atrevi a dar a minha opinião.
7 I thought, ‘Let days speak, and let many years teach wisdom.’
7 Pensei assim: ‘Que fale a voz da experiência, que os muitos anos mostrem a sua sabedoria!’
8 “Truly, it is a spirit in a human being, and the breath of Shaddai teaches them.
8 Mas acontece que dentro das pessoas há um espírito, há um sopro do Todo-Poderoso que dá sabedoria.
9 It is not ⌞the aged⌟ who are wise, or it is not the elders who understand justice.
9 Nós não ficamos mais sábios com a idade, nem sempre os velhos sabem o que é certo.
10 Therefore I say, ‘Listen to me; let me also declare my knowledge myself.’
10 Portanto, escutem o que digo, pois eu também vou dar a minha opinião.
11 “Look, I waited for your words; I listened for your insight, until you searched out ⌞what to say⌟.
11 “Esperei que vocês falassem e escutei as suas razões. Enquanto vocês escolhiam as melhores palavras,
12 And I directed my attention to you; and, look, there is no one for Job who refuted, answering his words among you.
12 eu prestava toda a atenção. Mas nenhum de vocês convenceu Jó, nem deu resposta às suas palavras.
13 So do not say, ‘We have found wisdom; let God refute him, not a man.’
13 Como é que vocês podem dizer que descobriram a sabedoria? É Deus, e não um ser humano, quem terá de dar resposta a Jó.
14 But he did not direct his words to me, and I will not answer him with your words.
14 Eu nunca teria respondido como vocês; mas Jó estava falando com vocês e não comigo.
15 “They are dismayed; they no longer answer; ⌞they have nothing to say⌟.
15 “Jó, estes três estão derrotados e não têm mais palavras para continuar a discutir.
16 And I have waited because they do not speak, because they stand there and no longer answer.
16 Eles já pararam; não falam mais. Será que devo continuar esperando enquanto estão calados?
17 I myself will answer my share also; I myself will declare my knowledge also,
17 Não! Eu darei a minha resposta agora e direi o que penso sobre o assunto.
18 for I am full of words; ⌞the spirit within me⌟ urges me.
18 Tenho muito o que falar e já não consigo mais ficar calado.
19 “Look, my internal organs are like unopened wine, like new wineskins it is ready to burst open.
19 Se eu não falar, sou capaz de estourar como um
20 Let me speak ⌞that I may find relief⌟; let me open my lips, and let me answer.
20 Não aguento mais; preciso desabafar, quero dar a minha opinião.
21 ⌞Please let me not show partiality to anyone⌟, and let me not show flattery to human beings,
21 Não vou tomar partido nesta discussão e não vou adular ninguém.
22 for I do not know how ⌞to flatter⌟, else my Maker would ⌞soon⌟ put an end to me.
22 Eu não costumo bajular; e, se bajulasse, o Criador logo me castigaria.
