1 Then Job again took up his discourse and said,
1 Jó continuou seu discurso nestes termos:
2 “⌞As God lives⌟, he has removed my justice, and Shaddai has made my inner self bitter.
2 Pela vida de Deus que me recusa justiça, pela vida do Todo-poderoso que enche minha alma de amargura,
3 For ⌞as long as⌟ my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nose,
3 enquanto em mim houver alento, e o sopro de Deus passar por minhas narinas,
4 my lips surely will not speak falseness, and my tongue surely will not utter deceit.
4 meus lábios nada pronunciarão de perverso e minha língua não proferirá mentira.
5 Far be it from me that ⌞I would say that you are right⌟; until I pass away, I will not put away from me my blamelessness.
5 Longe de mim vos dar razão! Até o último suspiro defenderei minha inocência,
6 I hold fast to my righteousness, and I will not let it go; my heart will not blame any of my days.
6 mantenho minha justiça, não a abandonarei; minha consciência não acusa nenhum de meus dias.
7 “Let my enemy be like the wicked and my opponent like the unrighteous,
7 Que meu inimigo seja tratado como culpado, e meu adversário como um mentiroso!
8 for what is the hope of the godless when he cuts them off, when God takes away his life?
8 Que pode esperar o ímpio de sua oração, quando eleva para Deus a sua alma?
9 Will God hear his cry of distress when distress comes upon him?
9 Deus escutará seu clamor quando a angústia cair sobre ele?
10 Or, in Shaddai will he find delight? Will he call upon God at all times?
10 Encontra ele suas delícias no Todo-poderoso, invoca ele Deus em todo o tempo?
11 “I will teach you about God’s hand; I will not conceal that which is with Shaddai.
11 Eu vos ensinarei o proceder de Deus, não vos ocultarei os desígnios do Todo-poderoso.
12 Look, you all have seen, and ⌞why in the world⌟ ⌞have you become altogether vain⌟?
12 Mas todos vós já o sabeis; e por que proferis palavras vãs?
13 “This is the portion of the wicked human being with God, and they receive from Shaddai the inheritance of the ruthless.
13 Eis a sorte que Deus reserva aos maus, e a parte reservada ao violento pelo Todo-poderoso.
14 If their children multiply, it is for the sword, and his offspring ⌞do not have enough to eat⌟.
14 Se seus filhos se multiplicam, é para a espada, e seus descendentes não terão o que comer.
15 Their survivors are buried through the plague, and their widows do not weep.
15 Seus sobreviventes serão sepultados na morte, e suas viúvas não os chorarão.
16 If he heaps up silver like the dust and fashions clothing like the clay,
16 Se amontoa prata como poeira, se ajunta vestimentas como argila,
17 he makes it ready, and the righteous will wear it, and the innocent will divide the silver.
17 ele amontoa, mas é o justo quem os veste, é um homem honesto quem herda a prata.
18 “He builds his house like the moth, and like a booth that a watchman has made.
18 Constrói sua casa como a casa da aranha, como a choupana que o vigia constrói.
19 He goes to bed with wealth, but ⌞he will do so no more⌟; he opens his eyes, and ⌞it is gone⌟.
19 Deita-se rico: é pela última vez. Quando abre os olhos, já deixou de sê-lo.
20 Terrors overtake him like the water; a storm wind carries him off in the night.
20 O terror o invade como um dilúvio, um redemoinho o arrebata durante a noite.
21 The east wind lifts him up, and he is gone, and it sweeps him away from his place.
21 O vento de leste o levanta e o faz desaparecer: varre-o violentamente de seu lugar.
22 And it hurls at him, and it has no compassion; he will quickly flee from its power.
22 Precipitam-se sobre ele sem poupá-lo, é arrastado numa fuga desvairada.
23 It claps its hands over him, and it hisses at him from its place.
23 Sua ruína é aplaudida; de sua própria casa assobiarão sobre ele.
