1 “Now this is the commandment, the rules and the regulations, that Yahweh your God charged to teach to you for you ⌞to observe⌟ in the land that you are about to cross over into to take possession of it,
1 Eis as ordenações, as leis e os preceitos que o Senhor, vosso Deus, me ordenou ensinar-vos, a fim de que os pratiqueis na terra aonde ides entrar para tomar posse dela.
2 so that you may revere Yahweh your God by keeping all his statutes and his commandments that I am commanding you, you and your children and ⌞grandchildren⌟, all the days of your life and so you may live long lives.
2 Assim, temerás o Senhor, teu Deus, observando todos os dias de tua vida, tu, teu filho e o filho de teu filho, todas as leis e os mandamentos que te prescrevo, e teus dias serão prolongados.
3 And you shall hear, Israel, and be careful to observe these instructions, so that ⌞it may go well for you⌟ and that you may multiply greatly, just as Yahweh, the God of your ancestors, ⌞promised⌟ you, in a land with milk and honey.
3 Tu os ouvirás, pois, ó Israel, e cuidarás de cumpri-los, para que sejas feliz e te multipliques copiosamente na terra que mana leite e mel, como te prometeu o Senhor, o Deus de teus pais.
4 “Hear, Israel, Yahweh our God, Yahweh is unique.
4 Ouve, ó Israel! O Senhor, nosso Deus, é o único Senhor.
5 And you shall love Yahweh your God with all of your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your might.
5 Amarás o Senhor, teu Deus, de todo o teu coração, de toda a tua alma e de todas as tuas forças.
6 And these words that I am commanding you ⌞today⌟ shall be on your heart.
6 Os mandamentos que hoje te dou serão gravados no teu coração.
7 And you shall recite them to your children, and you shall talk about them at the time of your living in your house and at the time of your going on the road and at the time of your lying down and at the time of your rising up.
7 Tu os inculcarás a teus filhos, e deles falarás, seja sentado em tua casa, seja andando pelo caminho, ao te deitares e ao te levantares.
8 And you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as an emblem between your eyes.
8 Atá-los-ás à tua mão como sinal, e os levarás como uma faixa frontal diante dos teus olhos.
9 And you shall write them on the doorframe of your house and on your gates.
9 Tu os escreverás nos umbrais e nas portas de tua casa.
10 “And then it will happen that when Yahweh your God will bring you to the land that he swore to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to you large and fine cities that you did not build,
10 Quando o Senhor, teu Deus, te tiver introduzido na terra que a teus pais Abraão, Isaac e Jacó, jurou te dar; grandes e excelentes cidades que não construíste,
11 and houses full of all sorts of good things that you did not fill, and hewn cisterns that you did not hew, vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant, and ⌞you have eaten your fill⌟,
11 casas mobiliadas e cheias de toda a sorte de coisas, que não ajuntaste, poços que não cavaste, vinhas e olivais que não plantaste, e quando comeres à saciedade,
12 then take care for yourself, so that you do not forget Yahweh, who brought you out from the land of Egypt from the house of slavery.
12 então, guarda-te de esquecer o Senhor que te tirou do Egito, da casa da servidão.
13 “You shall fear Yahweh your God, and you shall serve him, and by his name you shall swear.
13 Temerás o Senhor, teu Deus, prestar-lhe-ás o teu culto e só jurarás pelo seu nome.
14 You shall not go after other gods from the gods of the peoples who are all around you,
14 Não seguireis outros deuses entre os das nações que vos cercam,
15 for Yahweh your God is a jealous god in your midst, ⌞so that the anger of Yahweh your God would be kindled⌟, and he would destroy you from the face of the earth.
15 porque o Senhor, teu Deus, que mora no meio de ti, é um Deus zeloso; sua cólera se inflamaria contra ti e te apagaria de sobre a terra.
16 You shall not put Yahweh your God to the test, as you tested him at Massah.
16 Não provocareis o Senhor, vosso Deus, como o tentastes em Massa.
17 You shall diligently keep the commandments of Yahweh your God and his legal provisions and his rules that he has commanded you.
17 Observareis suas ordenações, seus preceitos e suas leis.
18 And you shall do what is right and good in the eyes of Yahweh, so that ⌞it shall go well⌟ for you and so that you may go and you may take possession of the good land that Yahweh swore for your ancestors,
18 Farás o que é bom e reto diante dos seus olhos, para que sejas feliz e possuas a terra que o Senhor jurou a teus pais dar-te,
19 by driving out all of your enemies ⌞before you⌟, just as Yahweh ⌞has promised⌟.
19 quando expulsasse de diante de ti todos os teus inimigos como o disse o Senhor.
20 “When your child asks you in the future, ⌞saying⌟, ‘What is the meaning of the legal provisions and the rules and the regulations that Yahweh our God commanded for you?’
20 quando teu filho te perguntar mais tarde: Que são estes mandamentos, estas leis e estes preceitos que o Senhor, nosso Deus, nos prescreveu? Tu lhe responderás:
21 Then you shall say to your child, ‘We were slaves of Pharaoh in Egypt, and Yahweh brought us out from Egypt with a strong hand.
21 éramos escravos do faraó, no Egito, e a mão poderosa do Senhor libertou-nos.
22 And Yahweh gave great and awesome signs and wonders in Egypt against Pharaoh and against his entire household ⌞in our presence⌟.
22 À nossa vista operou o Senhor prodígios, e grandes e espantosos sinais contra o Egito, contra o faraó e toda a sua família.
23 But he brought us out from there in order to bring us here to give us the land that he swore to our ancestors.
23 Tirou-nos de lá para conduzir-nos à terra que, com juramento, havia prometido a nossos pais dar-nos.
24 And so Yahweh commanded us to observe all of these rules and to revere Yahweh our God ⌞for our benefit⌟ ⌞all the days that we live⌟, ⌞as it is today⌟.
24 O Senhor ordenou-nos que observássemos todas essas leis e temêssemos o Senhor, nosso Deus, para sermos sempre felizes e para que nos conservasse a vida, como o fez até o presente.
25 And it shall be righteousness for us if we diligently observe and do all of this commandment ⌞before⌟ Yahweh our God, as he has commanded us.’
25 Seremos, pois, tidos por justos, se tivermos o cuidado de nos conformar a toda essa lei diante do Senhor, nosso Deus, como ele nos mandou.
